I think limiting it to 18 and up would be a very bad idea. Heck, some of their own workers are only 16. They would be cutting off the majority of their customers. You would be surprised how many younger kids have ID's. My kids are 12 and both of them have a state ID. They have had one since they were 7. Granted the majority will not have them, but some will.

Official Poll:What was your favorite part of Halloween Haunt 2007?
coastergirl replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KI Polls
They can warn parents all they want, but there will still be some people who think that their child is mature enough to handle monsters coming after them without having nightmares later that night. I would have liked to be a fly on the wall at some of the people’s houses after they watched Dead Awakening. I think there were a few parents that were going to have to have “the talk” sooner then they expected! On the other hand, it is not much worse then what you would see on MTV or even prime time T.V. I’m not sure that it is realistic if you take a family friendly theme park and promote it that way for years and then all of a sudden take an event like Halloween Haunt and make it for mature audiences only. I’m not saying that it is right or wrong; I’m just throwing it out there. I would almost expect something like Halloween Haunt to be at Cedar Point and Halloweekends to be at Kings Island. Cedar Point seems to be geared more for teens and adults and Kings Island has an outstanding child’s area and lots of rides for the “tween” group, you know family frendly. It’s almost like they got the parks mixed up. -
We went tonight and had a good time. We didn't see as many monsters around as we would have liked to. There were times that the kids were looking for them and there were NONE to be found. We actually walked through International Street twice and no monsters. We were able to do The Worksite, Club Blood, Death Row, CarnEvil, Redbeard and the Cemetery. They were all okay. I think that I liked CarnEvil the the best. It wasn't really scary but it was very cool to walk through. I do have to say that if they are going to have an up charge of more then $10.00 for 2008 they will need to step it up some. I really didn't see much of a difference then last year. Actually, last year we couldn't get out of the park without being chased by some sort of spook. Very different this year since there was not one to be found. I give Halloween Haunt a 3.

Which type of season pass are you going to get?
coastergirl replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KI Polls
I miss those days too. 2 years ago we paid $269 for the family of 4 for the KI Gold pass and the parking was included. Then we went to Cedar Point 1 time, so our family paid $407 for the season. This year we paid $500 for our Maxx Passes (free parking for renewing) 3 trips to other parks at $10.00 for parking brings our total to $530. For our passes next year we will be paying $560. While it is nice that parking is included in the Plat. Pass next year, there really isn't a reason that both of my kids need it included on theirs. I guess it makes up for it if we get the free jackets. The kids will like them and probably get a lot of use out of them. -
Do you know if these will be the permanent passes or will they be the temp passes and we will have to stand in line twice like we did this year? Also, did they say anything about if the passes will be honored for Halloween Haunt for 2008?

I think that it depends on your child’s emotional maturity. My kids were 11 when they did their first haunted house and they were fine. We took them through corn stalkers when they were 10 and it scared them so we didn't go through the houses. If your kids spook easily I would suggest not bringing them, but on the flip side, I have seen plenty of younger kids going through the houses and are just fine. Keep in mind that the scareactors like to go after the teens and pre-teens since they can get a good scare out of them, so they may be a target especially if they look scared.

I know that is not in stone, but when we called today, the guest relations person at KI said that season passes will get you into Halloween Haunt for free as in every other year. I guess that they could change it at any time, but right now they are still saying it is free for pass holders. My major problem with this is, last year there were a few haunts that when we went through the maze or house, there were no scareactors to be seen at all. We actually walked through the entire house and nobody was to be seen at all. That's not very scary. If I have to pay extra for "Halloween Haunt", I hope that someone will at least attempt to scare me. Isn't Halloweekends at CP is free with park admission? I guess if we end up having to pay extra at KI we could always go up to CP instead.

We were at Geauga Lake yesterday and it was raining most of the day, at times there was even some thunder. They never shut 1 coaster down even for a few minutes. Has something changed with the weather policy at Cedar Fair parks? We were expecting to do some standing around and waiting but it never happened. I have to say that I was a bit surprised.

Season Pass Complexity and Unfairness
coastergirl replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
I like the early ride times much better and I agree to a point about the speed pass. I feel uncomfortable using them, but I have also heard people in line say "that's cool, maybe I'll buy a season pass next year so I can do it too". Friends of mine bought season passes this year for the first time (7 total maxx passes) after I told them about the perks that came with them. So it could bring in more people after they see that you can jump to the front of the line. The speed lanes I always feel bad using are the kid rides (Scooby Doo and Log ride). Kids have such ahead time waiting anyway and then when you keep getting people jumping in front of you, it takes twice as long. We only used the speed passes once this year and that was enough for me. I think I rather just wait my turn. -
Wow... I just asked a question. I was not being disrespectful or picking on the community. I have friends that are gay and I have no problems with that lifestyle. I didn't know what the wearing of red had to do with being gay. I didn't mean any harm in the question, I was just curious. SOB_TOM, Thanks for answering my question.
-
Don't flatter yourself man. This may be a stupid question... but why wear red?

I never bring my purse into the park. I carry my cell phone in my pocket and load my husband up with everything else since he usually wears cargo shorts. Trying to keep track of a purse in the park is just way to much for me to worry about.

Man had a heart attack while in line for Firehawk.

This is just an amazing end to the story. I am glad that there are still people in this world who are willing to step in and help. -
I did that to my sister in law last year while waiting in line. I thought she was going to pass out!

I really like the blue on the train. It's a whole new start for SOB this year so why not have new train colors too.

Unfortunately they do not make waterproof casts anymore. That was my first question to the doctor and I guess that the waterproof casts were causing so many skin problems, that they discontinued making them. My son broke his arm a few years ago and he had a waterproof one and we were trying to remember which rides he was able to ride and which ones he was not. The only ones that we could remember was Drop Zone because it was one of his favorite rides. He was heartbroken when he couldn't ride. The other ride was SOB because it was his first time riding it and he was worried that he was going to knock himself out going down the first hill. This year my other son broke his arm and he wont be so lucky. We are leaving for the beach next weekend and should have been stopping at Carowinds on the way down. Carowinds is now out of the picture and we are trying to come up with something for the beach so he can at least enjoy part of our vacation.

So what I am getting out of this is: A. I shouldn't ride TR:TR because I am a girl B. I can't ride King Cobra because 1. I am in a cast and 2. because it is not there any longer and C. Cedar Fair may or may not be responsible if I injure myself because I have a broken bone. I think I will chance it and read the signs before I get into line!

I am aware of that.

SFKK: Girl Injured in Accident
coastergirl replied to joecoaster's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It also said: "The family's statement said no one from the theme park had contacted them since the accident, as park representatives had told reporters. "At no time has any representative of the theme park been in touch with members of the family," the statement said." I'm just surprised that the park has not been in contact with them since the accident. You would think after an accident of this severity they would be calling daily to check on her and to see what they can do, not just accompany them to the hospital and then call it a day. I'm sure that the lawyers for both parties are all over this and maybe Six Flags was advised not to be in contact. I don't know.. Once the initial contact is made it's best to have the professionals handle the rest of the matters. When I handle a claim, I can not think of one situation that I'd tell my insured "you should contact the plaintiff." It's kind of a catch 22. If it was my child, I would like to have someone from the park show that they really care about my family, and not being in contact would really make me angry, but on the other side it could get them into more trouble legally if they do contact them. I don't know.. it is such a horrible situation all the way around. I'm glad that she is doing better and they could reattach one foot. -
Yeah, I know Drop Zone is closed now, but it might not be in 3 weeks when we are planning on going!
-
Does anyone know which rides will not allow someone to ride with a cast on their arm? I checked the Kings Island website but it only says some of the rides and most of the BB water slides. It does not list them, it only says to check the signs posted at the ride. I know Drop Zone says you can't ride but that is the only one that I can think of off the top of my head.

Here is an update on the little girl. I find it hard to believe that Six Flags has not followed up with the family yet. CNN Update
