  1. I'm glad that someone else thought this was an awesome show. We saw it on Friday and I thought it was really good. My kids (11 &12) thought it was okay until they played Michael Jackson, then they were a little turned off. I think the dancers did a great job.
  2. We did Headless Hallow on Saturday and had a good time. I like it because it is outside in the woods. I think it is worth the wait.
  3. We took our kids through Cowboy Carnage as their first haunted house ever this weekend. They had a great time and really liked it a lot. We went through and were out by 7:30 on Saturday night. We also did Headless Hollow and thought it was pretty good too. My favorite part is when the train breaks down and the people on the train keep saying "Are they kidding? We have to get off?" Or the people that bring little kids through because they think it is only a train ride. I was disappointed with the scare zones. There was nobody at all in Corn Stockers, just fog machines. The Work Zone had people in it but they didn't do much at all so we were not impressed at all with those. After our 2 haunted houses we went to go ride some rides since everyone was in line for the houses. It was great because we pretty much walked on to every ride. We had a really great night.
  4. I wouldn't be surprised if they got rid of it. The last time that we were there, there wasn't anyone checking passes so everyone was parking in the lot.
  5. Okay.. What am I missing? When I click on the link, it says that the Maxx pass is $125.00. Isn't that the same as PKI?
  6. I agree. I am concerned about that too.
  7. What do the temporary passes look like? Are they paper or plastic? I am concerned about giving up my regular pass just in case something happens to the temporary pass before the end of the year.
  8. The WNCI Morning Zoo here in Columbus went down to PKI yesterday morning so one of their DJ's could face his fear of rollercoaster’s. PKI was nice enough to clear The Beast and video tape his ride so they could play it on the air this morning. They also posted the video on their website. It was pretty funny so I thought people here might enjoy it. WNCI Morning Zoo
  9. This is AWESOME!! I cant wait to renew my p*** now. We were very worried that it would be out of reach for a family of 4 but it looks like Cedar Fair came through for us. WOO-HOO!!
  10. It still says we will have walk on weekends. The speedlane for IJST was included in walk on weekends.
  11. We have been to the park 6 times this year but the best is yet to come!! FEARFEST!! That is my favorite time in the park. We have 1 more trip planned for this weekend and then a few more for fearfest.
  12. We arrived at Carowinds around 2:00 this afternoon and went directly to Guest Relations to have them process our tickets since we have a PKI season pass. Much to my surprise it was not a hassle at all. I was imagining that it would be a big production but they were very nice and processed them right away. The weather was very overcast and rainy at times so the crowds were not bad at all. We parked at the south gate so Top Gun was our first stop. It was pretty much a walk on ride. I think we only waited about 4 trains before it was our turn. It was an awesome ride!! All four of us loved the ride. Next we made our way over to Borg and had about a 45 minute wait. It was an okay ride. I was the only one that really didn’t care too much for it. I got off of it very motion sick which didn’t help for the rest of our visit. The other 3 people in our group really enjoyed it a lot. Next we did Hurler and then a stop at School of Rock. I think it was the best show I have seen to date. All of the performers did an excellent job. After that we rode Vortex. It reminded me of riding King Cobra way back when, and not in a good way. King Cobra was a good ride but really painful to ride sometimes!! After that we did some souvenir shopping. I bought a sweatshirt that was originally 34.99 for 10.00!! That was my deal of the day. By this time we are all getting tired so we had to go take a look at our old Flyers. They looked pretty good but they had such a long line we decided to pass it up. We rode Thunder Road and one more trip on Top Gun and headed back to the hotel. I wish that we had more time in the park but we have been up since 3:45 this morning and have to get up early to finish our drive tomorrow to Charleston. I am really glad that we went and thank you to everyone who gave me pointers for rides to ride and where to park. It was a great help.
  13. Don't forget that parking is not included with the season pass. That will probably be another $50.00 or so.
  14. You should do Top Thrill Dragster, Millennium Force and Raptor for sure. The only coasters that I skip are Disaster Transport and Cedar Creek Mine Ride. Raptor is in the front of the park and people tend to start there first so I usually skip it until mid day. The line has always gone down for us after a few hours but if you are going on a weekend it might not matter.
  15. We are coming from Columbus. US-33 toward Lancaster - 68.9 miles US-33 toward Chillicothe - 20.6 miles OH-7 / US-33 / OH 124 toward Ravenswood - .2 miles OH-124 E / OH-7 N. Continue to follow OH-7 - 1.9 miles OH-7 becomes US-33 / WV-68 - .4 miles US-33 E /WV - 2 N. - 2.2 miles I-77 S. toward Charleston - 180.9 miles I-77 S. via exit 81 toward Charlotte - 138.4 miles Carowinds Blvd. / US-21 Exit 90 - .4 miles Merge onto Carowinds Blvd- 1.4 miles Probably more info then you really needed but that's how mapquest has it.
  16. Wow. you must really like Carowinds to have a pass there!! It would be quite a haul if you live in Ohio. When I pulled it up on Mapquest, it is over 7 hours for us to get there!! I am really not looking forward to the drive. We are leaving around 4 am so we can get there as early as possible and ride as much stuff as we can! I think if we use the south gates and hoof it up to Brog it will be us grown ups trying to keep up with the kids!! I'm not nearly as fast as I used to be. That's the way it is at PKI. The kids go running up to Face/Off and are first in line and then have to wait for us to catch up. We keep telling them they should just stop running ahead of us because they have to wait anyway, but at their age they wont listen to anything!
  17. Thanks for the information. Borg is the one coaster that my kids are really looknig forward to so I guess we will be standing in line. Do they have Guest Relations at both entrances so we can get tickets with our PKI passes?
  18. We are planning our first trip to Carowinds on Saturday. Has anyone ever been to Carowinds? Are there any rides that you know of that are a must ride? We are not planning on spending a lot of time at the park because we are just passing through so we want to make sure that we hit the best rides for our time there. Any thoughts?
  19. Awesome. That's what I thought but I wanted to double check. Thanks for the information!
  20. Has anyone ever used their PKI season pass at other Paramount Parks? We are going to South Carolina in August and pass right by Carowinds. Does anyone know if it is a big hassle to use your pass? Do you have to go the ticket counter or can you go right to the gates and they will scan you in like the do at PKI? Any thoughts?
  21. My husband is about the same size as you and he fit on both MF and TTD with no problem at all.
  22. We do the same thing. My son is scared to ride it but if we promise to talk to him on the way up it takes his mind off of it and it isn't so bad. My husband points things out like the new lodge, how many cars are in the parking lot, look and see if Top Gun is running or if he can see the old King Cobra track behind SOB. It works really well for him.
  23. They list the pond incident and the Flight Commander incident on the same day (6/9/93). The pond incident happened on 6/9/91. Was the Flight Commander also on 6/9/91 or just by coincidence that it happened on the same date in 1993?
  24. Cutting out the fluff and false facts that the media is putting out is why I thought it would be helpful information on their website. I think that I have read every article published about this situation and I do not think any of them had the same information. Maureen - Thank you for giving us the facts. You are a huge asset to PKI and like everyone else; I hope that the Cedar Fair management can see this.
  25. It is wonderful that Maureen is sharing this information with us, and I thank her for that, but why isn’t this information posted on the PKI website so the general public has the same answers? This site seems to be mostly PKI staff and pass holders. As a gold pass holder and life long visitor of the park, my confidence has not dropped in the park. We understand that accidents can happen and while they are very rare we know that PKI will do everything they can to make the coaster safe before it reopens, well, I hope that most of the people on this site would understand that. It is more likely for the general public to go directly to the PKI website for information instead of this site. The question and answers from Maureen get right to the point and are facts rather then speculation. Is PKI planning on posting these to their site at some point?
