I want to buy the 350,000 dollar Intamin log flume they had listed on that site... Anyone want to chip in? lol -
Except when the pieces smack someone in the face...that would suck would what's left of the wheel still on the car catch the track and one tear the track and train up...but also slow it down a lot?

Son Of Beast: Out of the Loop!
Braves0511 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
So...i am a bit bummed out about this...but you know what this means?! A new [loopless] logo!... -
I think there should be a ramp...the train comes off the MC Brakes and down that hill, and then it goes up a bit and then -poof- there's no track...and you fly about twenty feet into the air...the train contorts a bit and you may end up upside down, thus replacing the loop...then it miraculously realigns itself to the track via magnets and then you make a nice somewhat soft landing...and finish the course...not sure what to name this new element...but i better get some money off of it, it took me a whole two minutes to think it up...

I would hate to see the loop go...Without it, SOB is just a really really big, rough ride...I would still ride it...but it wouldn't be anywhere near as fun...

My CP stuff's value?

Those are really cool...I never really knew what was there before it became the "roller coast." Very interesting. -
I think you're yanking our chain...that's utterly impossible...ha

I know when I go to college I'd really like to go to a school near a park. I think it would be really cool working in one...But living in somewhat rural Indiana, there's really no opportunity for it. But if it works out for me I will definitely use proximity to a park in my college choices. Although not near as much as things that are more important obviously... But yeah, sounds like it would be fun.

I agree with the whole location of IJST, and how bad it is. But I've ridden it once and thought it to be an enjoyable ride. I didn't really know what to expect from it, and the best part was being launched into the pitch black tunnel, i wasn't expecting that, I figured it would be lit up more...the only part about it was the exit sign down there kind of ruined the effect. The one and only thing I don't miss about the 'Tiques, is the smell of the exhaust that permeated that entire area of the park. Although this has been mentioned before, I think a good alternitive worth looking into, although it may be a bit more expensive in the beginning, is electric cars... If they ever decide to put another car ride in elsewhere, it's a good avenue to take. haha, no pun intended... I hope they bring in another one of some form in the future, as this was one of those rides you had to get on at least once no matter what kind of a thrill seeker you are...

It doesn't even have to be a Fridays, or any "name brand" restaurant. It would just be cool to have the restaurant back.
-
^ But still, you have to admit that it would be really cool if they reopened the I-street Restaurant... I mean, what is it now? just an empty space above the gates... so there's the facility, they just need cooking equipment and people who know how to use it... I would eat there.

what is the new ride for next season?
Braves0511 replied to rollerocasterfreak's topic in Coming Attractions
Well it does have to do with 2007. And i for one am excited -
YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS! I was really hoping it would. I've only gotten a chance to ride it once, and i loved it and was planning to do it again this year, but it closed about two weeks before we went.

Yeah, i was checking that site out earlier... all of the neat looking old parks owned by regular old private people in the twenties and thirties, all to be shut down by the big corporations in the 50s and 60s... I would have loved to have seen some of those places in their prime. The only older park i know of that made it through part of that era is holiday world, it wasn't built in the 20 or 30's but close enough...

I think it's funny that everyone is all bent out of shape over it. Quite honestly, it was probably the first thing that popped into his head or whatever and as he was reacting to the situation, he wasn't really thinking about the people coming back or whatever, he was probably more focused on getting them to the ground... If you were in his situation, when your 200 someodd feet above the ground, and something goes wrong, are you going to be thinking, gee i better not say that, these people won't come back... I mean there are things more important than getting 30 people to come back to an amusement park, such as getting thirty people safely to the ground... (sorry that was really cynical and sarcastic, but it's my two cents, take it for what it's worth...)

A couple of months ago, didn't I see something on Cedar Point's blog, trying to dispell the rumor they were getting a ride called Maverick just because they had the name copyrighted... That's kind of funny...

Who has noticed that Drop Zone was just painted?
Braves0511 replied to adam47303's topic in Kings Island
Yes. DZ definately needed it, I thought about that last year, and then they did it...and it looks pretty good... -
CF made a mistake buying Paramount?
Braves0511 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Thank God it wasn't Six Flags... They probably couldn't even offer pocket fuzz for the parks... -
That's how I am, I psyched myself out standing in line, and when I got on I was pretty nervous... We got about 30 feet up and I was petrified and once we got to the top, I was freaking out in my head, I looked calm and cool;when I told my dad about it, he was like I didn't even see you sweat... But yeah, I hate sitting at the top just knowing it's gonna go, once we go it's a rush, but just waiting on it sucks... Last year i was all for it, I think I rode it 3/4 times without a hitch, I barely stood one this year...

Son of Beast To Be Partly Rebuilt
Braves0511 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I found it odd during my trip to PKI on August ninth not to hear SOB... Before, no matter where you were in the park, you could always hear the trains going up the lift, and if you didn't conciously hear it you could at least feel it... I just noticed throughout the day that that was gone and it just made it different, I don't know quite how else to explain it... And I'm all for the return of SOB sometime next year possibly, once it's fixed and 100% safe of course, it was a great ride. -
I fianally made it to the park this year, and had a fairly good trip. This year held two PKI milestones for me, one, I have now officially ridden every major ride in the park (with the exception of kiddie rides and pay-rides (I never have any money) ); and it is the first time i've managed to ride every ride in the park in one day. The park wasn't extremely crowded, but it was a bit more full than im used to seeing this time of year. Normally just about everything is a walkon, i may have waited for one to two cycles/trains, which isn't too bad... We started our day in Coney Mall and rode all of the little flats there, i rode the monster by myself and as i was sitting on top waiting to disembark, the little girl in the tub in front of me leaned over the side and puked, that was entertaining... After the Monster, i managed to ditch my family for awhile and grabbed a ride on Adventure Express, boring but a must ride still, as well as both Racer and Recar. That was my first time on Recar, I waited for a front seat ride and it was worth it, lot's of air... I then met up with my dad again and we hit up The Beast and Vortex. Then I took my first ever ride on Flight of Fear. I have been somewhat nervous about this ride for years and have never been able to force my self on to it, I jsut did it this year and loved it to death. It was a great ride, and we only waited maybe 20 minutes, the longest wait i had all day. After FOF, my dad left me to go find my mom and sister, so i took a second ride on both Beast and Vortex while i waited to see if the line for Tomb Raider would go down, and it did, so I took a spin on it. It seemed like a shorter ride than i remember it being, but that may be just me...still fun though. Then I headed over to Action Zone, and rode Top Gun, just for kicks, great ride, way too short. After TG, I took my first ride on Delirium, just as i started to get on it started raining, other than the rain pelting me in the face, it was an awesome ride, definately in my top ten list of flat rides, After Delirium, came Shake Rattle and Roll, which was ok, slightly boring after everything i had just gotten off of. I met up with my family for dinner after that, yay La Rosa's! After dinner, we hit the wet rides, which have never been my favorite, because after those you're always so miserable and wet... We separated again and my dad and I rode Italian Job, which was a quirky little fun ride, that wasn't worth waiting in line for, fun but not worth a 20 minute wait, I especially liked the pitch black subway part. After Italian Job my dad and i hit up FOF one more time for a near walk on ride, and then Top Gun and Drop Zone. For some reason I actually got a bit nervous on DZ this year, that's never happened before. By this time it was about 9 oclock and fairly dark, so Dad and I got in a night ride on The Beast, if you've never done that, i highly recomend it, darkness adds so much to that ride I loved it... and for my last ride I got on Face/Off for the first time, my dad wouldn't go on it with me so i went by myself...great ride with lots of g's, I started going forwards and thought that was cool, but going backwards back through the loop i couldn't even move as we went over the top, it was the coolest... Then we met my mom watched the fireworks, bought a t-shirt and headed home... Although the most fun thing all day was just listening to people act like they knew what they were talking about, I heard everything from 14 people died on SOB and two were paralized, The Beast evidentally has a loop in it, never seen it though, Cedar Point is going to take all of our rides and move them to Sandusky and take the unpopular rides from CP and bring them here... I heard all sorts of fun stuff... and that was my trip to KI 2006...(sorry it was so long)
-
I always get a cup, and a couple/few park maps + plus the "park used" map that has been destroyed through getting wet and crumpled in my pockets and such...(I don't even need a map anymore, it just makes me feel better) I have a couple tshirts, and several ORP's... My goal for this year is to get a picture of myself on a roller coaster, not sure which one yet, with absolutely no expression on my face...I just want to see if i can ride a coaster and look extremely bored at the same time (I don't think it's humanly possible) , it just sounded mildly entertaining in my head...
-
That's a cool idea, someone should try to impliment that...

I've never really had a bad experience with SOB, I've ridden in the front middle and very back, and never thought it was too rough... I think in these modern times, that we've gotten away from what a wooden roller coaster is supposed to do. Everyone expects every ride they get on to be butter smooth and feel like floating on air, but a woodie is supposed to be rough and out of control, and all up in your face; just like SOB. In my opinion, SOB is the epitome of what a wooden coaster is supposed to do, but everyone just says what an awful ride it is...
