The fried chicken served at Columbia Palace was to die for. Probably some of the best fried chicken that I'd ever had. Everything was prepared there and pressure fried in giant fryers. One of the worst things I hated doing was working the kitchen at Columbia or in the Cook House. But there were some guys (and a couple gals) that absolutely loved working the Cook House.

When Columbia Palace was remodeled from a sit down restaurant, "Real" Montgomery Inn Ribs were served. Dick Gregory actually came in a couple times to check on the quality of the products that were served at Columbia. Many of the servers at International Restaurant worked there since the early 70's. I don't think I ever heard one complaint about the service or prices that they had at IR. I think that the only ones that complained about it was Paramount. But then, we all know my opinion of the Paramount folk.

No Burgers sold at International Restaurant. They did have some wonderful Prime Rib, though. They also had a very grand ruben and beef stroganoff. Ohhh! The stroganoff was awesome! I loved the New York Cheese Cake, as well. One slice was just soooooooo decadent!

And as often as I'm in various parks around the country, I honestly never pay a lot of attention to the ride ops. There is usually not a lot of interaction with them. If I notice customer service, it's normally from a food, merchandise, games or ecology person.

I like it with ice cream but did not have ice cream yesterday. Darn, I'm getting hungry for more. May run down to Gabriel's for some yummy treats!

Well one was at 10:15am at work and I was diving into a delicious Apple Dumpling at the time! Yum!

I've spelled TimberWolf Many Times, Silly!

At one time there were fantastic Receptions in the Taft Suite. I remember a very impressive one from when Mikhail Barishnikov performed at Timberwolf. There were politicians and dignitaries from the Tri-State region that came and attended.

CLOSED: Star Trek: The Experience

So Paramount owned the props in the attraction. That's kinda interesting. It appears that CF probably had to rent the items or agree to return the items if the attraction closed. -
America's Best Haunts 2008

I'm sure they're at least as experienced as the folk that do the Golden Ticket Beauty Contest Awards. -
They closed it because it wasn't profitable.. simple as that. That was before Cedar Fair, though. Pure and simple? Never known IR to be a money losing operation. It was never a large money maker, but that was never it's design. The location was to offer a diverse dining option with a full service menu. It had served it's purpose up and until the point that Paramount choose to close the location.

We used to have a place called Bakery that made all the fresh baked items. They also made carmel apples. Antique Treats would make the carmel corn. Commissary used to be located in Picnic Grove. The would slice all the fresh vegetables and fruits throughout the park.

LIFEGUARDS SAVE SWIMMER AT CONEY ISLAND
WooferBearATL replied to The Interpreter's topic in Coney Island Central
Standing and talking on a microphone is hardly comparable to saving a life. Media Sensationalism? Give me a break Woofer. I bet if this was in Atlanta you would be praising the lifeguards and jumping up and down for them and talking about how they are number one and I'm sure you probably know a few and have the inside scoop on lifeguards. However, a little reminder of the good that can come from well trained people doing their job and saving a life is not media sensationalism, in fact its even rare that you hear about folks like this. For the past year I have been working on a photo story assignment covering the daily job duties of the Cincinnati Police Force. These gentleman and women are a class act and do a lot for this city, yet they are hardly recognized on a large scale. In the multimedia and galleries I've made about the story it praises them a lot for the things they do, and every day they are extraordinary things done when people are "just doing their job." However, I guess since its their usual job they don't deserve praise every now and then . . . just media sensationalism, unless its in Atlanta. *** Talk About Pulling a Topic Out of The Blue..... I have two buddies that are Paramedics. I have a Buddy that is a Trauma Nurse and one that is an ER Doc. I know a couple Firemen and a couple Police Officers. They save folk every day. Maybe I've missed it but their actions in the news paper every day? <P.S. - One was in the paper/TV for responding to the Brian Nichols Courthouse killings.> -
Press Release: 2008 Halloween Haunt Info!
WooferBearATL replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
My garsh, they DO listen. This is a major and much needed improvement. Halloween can be fun...but making fun of peoples' mental abilities, sexuality, etc., was indeed playing with fire, for no reason. It is good to see this major change has been made. I hope all who enjoy Halloween festivities have a fantastic time at Halloween Haunt! Enjoy! Someone had passed that information on to me a couple months ago. It's very good to hear that the park was receptive to their guests and made this move. What ever will Tassels Do? -
In through the 80's we could have minors work up and until 1am when not during the school year. That law was still there when I left in 07. On the very rare occasion that the park was open late, we still always had to have minors out by 1am. So can you tell us what "your moms company" was? Huh? You lost me with the last sentence.

Private events were until 11pm on Saturdays through the 80's. Occasionally there were private events on Friday's open until 11pm.

my moms company bought it out a couple years ago. it was from 12pm to 12pm Uh, no... There is no way the park would do this. The park would never expect it's associates to work something like this. Personally I worked ther "a couple years ago" and from no time from 2002-2007 I can assure you this did NOT happen. I'm sure many others who worked there before can also validate that this has never happened. And I worked at the park up until 1990 and can assure no such event occurred up and until that point.

Actually, plans were dropped by a previous owner of the park. Said previous owner had no interest in the project as they had little interest in Winterfest, as well.

There actually was a plan to operate at least a portion of the park year round. The idea and plans were to make International Street a year round operation.

At least it's not $4 a gallon ... yet :)
WooferBearATL replied to Lake54321's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Spent $3.34 per gallon on Thursday. I see my last post on here was 08/09 and that I spent $3.65 then. So in less than a month it's fallen .31 cents? Wooo Hooo!
