  1. That would not be a great sign. I'd bet that they would close then and rethink strategy before next year.
  2. Absolutely. You think they'll set them up in the Western Themed area of Kings Island?
  3. Well if that's the tip of the iceberg it wouldn't be enough to chill a big old glass of sweet tea!
  4. Both full- and part-time employees in various areas of the business were laid off, he said. The odd thing is that at this time of the year most parks are very short staffed as they find it hard to find workers. As of this Monday most every school throughout the South will be back in session.
  5. Laying off 25 to 30 of what was 2,000 at it's peak of the season? OK, and why is this major?
  6. But the park did not properly supervise how the four family members were seated in the raft to best distribute the weight, said the report by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, which oversees amusement park rides. Ohhhhh! I see! They did not oversee how to properly distribute the weight that was over the weight restriction?
  7. It's actually the truck plan in MS that is being changed over to a Prius plant.
  8. I was quite excited to pay $3.65 a gallon on Thursday. Who would have ever thought ya would be excited to pay $3.65.
  9. A single outing is not going to cause the the company to do lay offs. If it were to that point, there would be lay offs already. In fact, they are changing the MS plant over to construct Prius's within the next year. They adjust and adjust quickly. What some companies fail to understand that it is important to motivational and rewarding to their work force, as well.
  10. Mom always said don't play ball in the park!
  11. Sorry to hear about that man. Companies are facing some tough decisions right now. Sometimes they don't realize how important events like these are to the employees and their families. What really is not a major expense for a large company (Such as Toyota) creates such good will with it's employees.
  12. We're still waiting for the Brady Bunch to show up. What has been schedule are 3 of the 9 that filmed at the park? That's not even half of the Brady Bunch?!?!? Doesn't matter, even if they had all 9 you still wouldn't visit the park. . . and would probably still complain. Not true! If they actually raised Robert Reed from the dead that would be amazing! I bet people from around the world would come to see that. How about the other 5. Or has been pointed out at least the other three kids? Until then, we could just say that the Brady Batch is coming to the park?
  13. We're still waiting for the Brady Bunch to show up. What has been schedule are 3 of the 9 that filmed at the park? That's not even half of the Brady Bunch?!?!?
  14. Is the thread not miss-named? Some of the Brady Kids Return to Kings Island? And you mean they could not get Marsha? Maureen McCormick will do anything for a buck or publicity!
  15. 10 years from now Beast will likely still be standing. ... SOB will not.
  16. I know! Gasp! The last park I was at was BGA and that was (shaking my head) December 2007. I've just worked way too much this year. I was even told that I need to use some vacation time. LOL - and not just by my mother. <G>
  17. I actually can not tell you the last time that I paid full admission to any park in Florida, including Disney.
  18. Yeah...I agree. It sounds like a FANTASTIC coaster, and I've always thought it bordered on criminal that a major park like KI didn't have even one B&M. If CF puts the kind of attention into this ride as they did Maverick, I think it'll be a legitimate top-10 steel coaster... BUT...there really isn't anything shocking or surprising here. Most of the facts included in the press release have been discussed here and other enthusiast sites for several months (even down to the very accurate layout that showed up on Screamscape many months ago...) Other than confirming the rumors that have been floating around for months, is there anyone here really that surprised about its stats? I'm not saying this a bad thing...just not a surprising thing. Of course, the GP doesn't follow this stuff like we do, so this will be a big newsflash to 90% of KI's market. (Basically, a coaster makes news two times...the day its announced and the day it opens. Well...I guess it can make the news in a third situation, but we don't usually want those to happen...) I am a little disappointed that the press release refers to Rivertown as a "western-themed area of the park." What?? So much for CF honoring all that park nostalgia Thank You! I'm so glad you agree. I too think that it's long over due that a B&M make it's way to Kings Island. But this is absolutely nothing shocking or amazing. I do agree that the most disappointing part of the statment is the "Western-Themed Area." It speaks volumes of an administration that does not understand the backround and history of the park. But then I suppose Nostalgia was this years tag line. (This attraction is for next year.)
  19. Well, technically you must also be clothed in the water park, too! Perhaps not to the same extent, but still....no nudism is permitted at Boomerang Bay. Terpy, who just HAD to... Rule Does Not Apply to Carrowinds.
  20. I know that I did. What they showed really doesn't have a place at an "Amusement" park. Maybe at a Halloween Event, but that's the only time that I'd think that it were amusing.
  21. I really fail to see what that has to do with the Geneva Motor Show. Granted, it's convention food but I'm certain that it's still quite tasty. Jeeshhh!
  22. The Geneva Motor Show? Is that the convention we're talking about?
  23. Looks like a good idea. Except for the money in the wave pool? That does not sound like the brightest of ideas. Someone did not think that one out.
  24. I was talking about the press packs that they sent out. It was absolutely incredible. I'm not talking about the web pages.
