  1. On opening day, or your 1st scheduled visit to the park, what rides and attractions are on your to do list other than Diamondback? As for me, I think I will take a ride on Firehawk, and I always ride Adventure Express on my 1st day at K.I. each year.
  2. I just like the whole Diamondback theme in it's entirety. This sign just adds to it. It is so nice ( just in my personal opinion, please don't take off my head for this ) to see rides get original theming again, and not themes based on movies. This is a perfect and better than expected followup to Firehawk, and I can't wait to ride it and see all that it has to offer in person.
  3. Holiday World is #1 on my new parks of 2009 list. I have never been there before, and can't wait to experience it. Big splash ending, or not!
  4. Imagine 30 years from now, when people ask the question, "When were you born?" And the 09 babies will answer "when Diamondback opened, 30 years ago." But that was a big deal back then.
  5. 30 here. Me and The Beast have something in common. Being 30, It was pretty nice the other day when I had my I.D. checked to purchase a wine cooler.
  6. "Son of Beast" I remember hearing on the radio that the park opened the ride, so I went and picked up a friend, and we made good use of our season passes that day I can tell you. We waited for just over 4 hours for the giant woody on it's opening day. We brought along a deck of cards, realizing that it would be a long line, and as the line moved, we would pick our cards up and move along, sat back down and continue our games. I remember that when we finally got on it for our 1st ride ever, it was starting to get dark. I recall the loop being amazing, but I also recall my back hurting me for over a week following this ride. It was pretty cool to be able to do this with a season pass. I would feel sorry for anyone who wanted to ride it with a general admission ticket.
  7. A tribute to the passing of Nibiru, or something to impress on the Mayan Calendar and the Winter Solstice of 2012.
  8. If you go to youtube, you can now view the test run of SeaWorld's "Manta" from 3-16-09.
  9. Too much for Disney Junkies? What? Has the writer actually met some of these people?
  10. Very Nice Pictures! But the movie is even better! I can't wait to hear this one rattle in person. For once, I am going to allow myself to get bitten by this Diamondback.
  11. When you visit KICentral.com, how long do you usually spend looking at the site. For me it varies. Some days, I barely take the time to read many forums. Others, I only look for new topics. And on occasion, on days like today, I treat KICentral something like a novel. I have extra time, so I read through as many forums as I can, and respond when I feel I have something to add to the topic. And I come to the site because, #1 I love Kings Island. #2 I enjoy the off topic news ranging from other parks to just about anything on here. #3 I like the descent nature of this web page. It is accurate and family oriented. So for me, I can spend anywhere from about 10 minutes, to hours looking at KICentral. How about you?
  12. I agree with the texting topic. I don't see the point of it at all. Neither does my other half. But her little sister is always texting. Actually I do not think that I have ever seen her even talk on her cell phone. I have the feature on my phone, but only use it to answer texts recieved. I never send texts first. And I only return them rarely. I prefer a good phone call anyday over a text. However I can think of One time when texting was sweet. A good friend of mine was at a U.F. Gators regular season football game ( home opener ) against ..cough cough...Ole Miss...cough. I could not attend this game, but I was watching it on television. My friend kept sending me texts, like, OH MY!, or My Goodness!, and one memorable WT-! Anywho, I would recieve the texts, before the delayed signal on the television, so I knew just mere moments before something big was about to happen. This would be a sweet tool if one was betting on game plays.
  13. I think Kings Island will be fine, in summary, however I do worry about other C.F. parks.
  14. This is a time when people need to have distractions in their lives that help them to forget about the real world out there....temporarily. It is crucial to good health that people regardless of age take some time to simply enjoy themselves. You know, drop the stress level down a bit. This is a big part of the reason why I feel that Kings Island will be fine. This is just a shot in the dark guess, but I am ( guessing ) that season pass holders will probably make more trips to the park this year, if for no other reason than the fact that the trip is already paid for, and avoiding paying for something else. And chances are that they will purchase food, play games, purchase souvenirs, or bring a friend who may need to pay for an admission ticket each and every time that they come to the park. And I am sure that the park will adjust to the changing conditions. Just let evolution take it's course. I can't speak for park representatives, but I would offer discounts on ticket prices. Lower food, and game costs. I would monitor the water park very closely, and if attendance is way down ( changing from day to day ) I would close the water park early to help cut costs. If Cedar Fair brings in special events like they did last year, attendance will likely go up on those days. I would reintroduce bring a friend free days, and finally I would offer more discounts on merchandise, including giving associates a larger discount. After all, selling discounted merchandise ( not too low ) is better than not selling any merchandise. I would even go as far as discounting most if not all food stands to associates. I don't know about anyone else, but I would have been more willing to spend money on associate discounted food throughout the park, than having to purchase it at BackLot Cafe ( oscars ). Sorry if I went a bit off topic, and for the length.
  15. I don't know, maybe it was just me, but Days of Thunder never really seemed..virtual to me..... However, I did enjoy James Bond, and SpongeBob. Didn't they have a comic book based attraction too?
  16. From the looks of that roller coaster, I'm surprised the tape didn't get wet and fall off. I can just look at thing and tell you that I would never be willing to get on it.
  17. All at once....No Way! To be able to go to these parks will probably take a few 3 day weekends, through the course of a few months. I wish I had that much free time. To be fair, I am really looking forward to Diamondback at Kings Island. I am most eager to go to Holiday World, because I have never been there, and I love new experiences. And 2nd I am looking forward to Cedar Point as I have not been to this park, or anywhere north of Columbus since June, 2003. I take that back, I have been to The Wilds in Zainesville, Ohio. But that's east.
  18. More people in line for Diamondback=less people in line for Firehawk!!!!
  19. It's hard to say. It depends on so many factors. A weekday when school is still in session, could reduce the crowd. Weather is certainly a contributing factor. Other factors can include events at the park, Weekends, Other Cincinnati events, going early in the week, or going early or late in the day. I think that I would aim for a Tuesday or Wednesday when some schools are still in session, there is a Cincinnati Reds game going on, and it is raining, early in the day.
  20. I am seriously considering going for this. I want to make an Ohio/Indiana vacation plan for this coming summer. I hope to attend Kings Island, Cedar Point, Holiday World, and try to make it to a Reds Baseball game. I am especially hopeful to make it to Holiday World, as I have never been there before. I tried to make time for it last summer, but it simply did not happen.
  21. This sounds interesting. I can't wait to see who is going to be speaking at this event. Marlfox21, Who just happens to be interested.
  22. We could all donate $ as a single unit, and if we win a seat, we could give it so someone who, otherwise, would not even be able to afford park attendance. Just a thought.
  23. This is a very good idea. I am going to talk this over with my other half and decide what we should donate. No, I am not thinking unrealistically, and I am not expecting a seat. But maybe $50 to $100 would be fair to the cause.
