It could happen anywhere (life being ended) but its just a scary thought and these people do it all the time. But if you love something it never seems as dangerous For those of you who believe that you would like to endeavour into the field of working with animals....I applaud you and your efforts. The situation at Sea World, Orlando is unfortunate and tear jerking. But don't let it distract you from your purpose. If you can understand that Dawn would not have wanted any harm to come to the animals she loved so very much, then I believe that you are where you should be to reach your goal with wildlife. If this incident distracts you and makes you double think the field, then you are completely within reason to feel that way. But if it changes your point of view of wildlife, maybe you should seriously consider a different career path. This is what we do. We are aware of the situations and the consequences. The rewards in this field far outnumber the hardships, in comparison with raising a child. Dawn obviously loved what she did for a living, and to discourage care for whales or people caring passionately about wildlife would contradict the very thing that she lived for. In my humble opinion, there is no more rewarding career in the world than one with animals. They bring out the best in people. Working with the animals that you love, and people who are both curious and joyful to see them. Yes, I can say that I work at a job where families come together and people are always smiling together, which is certainly not a bad way to earn a living. The event at Sea World is regretable, and I pray for her friends, and family. May what she BELIEVE d in live on through us.

You could save 15% or more of your time in line by switching to Gold Pass!

I think that riding Son of Beast feels something like carrying a large heavy dresser up a flight of stairs with somebody, and you are on the bottom, and the person on top drops their end, followed quickly by the weight of the dresser pulling your body forward before it starts to fall pushing your body down the stairs.

Terpy that is awesome!!!! My sarcasm strikes me again. Seriously though. The thing is a disaster waiting to be more disastrous. They should tear it down, and then they can sell foot long timbers, and personalize them by carving the buyers name into it. Followed by the bragging rights that you own a foot of the worlds tallest fastest and only looping wooden roller coaster.

Son of Beast: could very well be made into the world's biggest pile of pressure treated toothpicks. My biggest dissapointment are the # of trees that were cut down to build this giant lawsuit with a foundation.

Call in Nibiru or Planet X. That would certainly fit with the X-Base theme. On Dec.21st 2012 @ 8:12......announce it.

I talked to my sister. She doesn't remember his cauldron looking thing of fire misting. She operated the ride on it's opening year. But hey, she could be wrong too.

Yes I would. I have before, and I would happily do it again.

Ok, let me get this straight. If Son of Beast is gone, you are going to refuse to purchase a season pass? So the only reason you purchase a season pass is to ride the Son of Beast? Nothing else in the park catches your interest at all? If this is the case ( although I'm sure it's not ) then have at it. I have stated my opinion many times.....I will not ride Son of Beast. However, I am a fan of the park. Listen to all of us who have been around to watch the Smurfs come and go, Hanna Barbera come and go, Nickelodeon come and go, Wild Animal Habitat come and go, WinterFest come and go, King Cobra come and go, etc..........If all of us had stopped going to the park years ago, there would be nothing to come to now. No Diamondback, no Firehawk, no Flight Deck, well, no anything. It hurts, but you carry those memories that you cherish with you forever. Yes, you will always miss it. But you make the most of your memories, and you never stop searching for new ones. Better ones. With ideals and concepts you have not even imagined yet. Some new attractions will compare, some will fall short, and some will even surpass your perspective of the Son of Beast right now. I applaud you for defending what you hold dear. But again, keep your memories with your family and friends, and make new memories. Make new friends. Watch your families grow. Eventually, the ride will not even matter nearly as much because brand new people in your life were never even there to experience it with you. Trust me. my 2 cents......HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!

Hey donate the wood to Holiday World. I'm sure they can design a smaller wooden coaster that would be a great ride. Sorry folks. For those of you who recognize my name, you probably have caught on that I don't like to put down Kings Island. But Son of Beast is not a topic regarding park appearances or skylines. It is a topic regarding public safety on a REALLY BIG ROLLER COASTER. One I have refused to ride for years due to it causing pain in my otherwise healthy back. And it is the ONLY ride that I can say that I am not willing to get back on. And I love my roller coasters.

I believe it would be called "Closed for the Season" or "Under Maintenance"

Probably Adventure Express. But SheiKra would be close to challenge that.

I believe its based on a spinoff series when BamBam and Pebbles were adults. I don't know the name of it. Unless I'm wrong and thats not the intention.

Yes. Even though I only have a single picture to look at, and I cannot see it's belly. I am guessing a female G. Carbonaria that has been ( probably born ) and raised in captivity. I assure you, my concerns are legitimate enough. But I don't wanna start a hullabaloo on here. I'm asking you to trust me.

Looks almost harmless enough. However, I would not be me If I did not question the Geochelone.

Hmmmmmm. Saws cut down wood

Hey, Cedar Fair is suddenly interested in the use of animals. They could do the animal thing right, tear the Son of Beast down, and what was could be again.

Thats interesting. My family ( in Ohio ) has a nice collection of tractors. A 49 John Deere G, a John Deere A, and a very rare Rumely 6.

I have obviously been away for quite a while. WOW this is a lot of pages for a single topic. SOB. Honestly I have not rode the S.O.B. since 2002 I think. It hurt my back so badly, I swore I would never get back on it again. Kind of like it's opening day. I remember standing in line for this thing for hours. The people in front of me were playing cards, and picking up their hands and moving them down the line as it slowely crept along. My 1st ride on this thing on that day was when it was starting to get dark. I remember how much I hurt when I got off of it. I think I honestly felt sore for about a month. ( thats what I get for being a test dummy ) If I remember right it was about a month before it was open again after that day. So naturally, I endeavoured for even more pain, and continued to ride it. I think it was in 2002 like I said earlier when I finally decided that it was getting too rough, and I made the solid decision that I would never ride it again. Whatever decision awaits Son of Beast is perfectly fine with me. Although, I honestly favor tearing it down.

Wow Top Gun sure was a lot prettier! And just look at King Cobra with all that open land behind it where Son of Beast stands now. Maybe it will look that that again soon. And the dolphin show....simply amazing. Brings back great memories. Thank you.

I am so Sooo disappointed about this topic. People believe that they are being more grown up or "MATURE" involving this topic by trying to belittle other people for having morals and standards. This is not maturity at all. In fact. Come a little closer. Its the complete polar opposite. It is the people in this world who have qualities and lines that can be crossed that make the good in the world. It is the people with no values and nothing to believe in who allow society to become a worse place for our children. I would like to stress that I am not angry with responses, just overcome in disappointment.

This is what worries me. In a true professional environment, animals could not be stressed past a certain point. Moving animals too much in an unfamiliar place certainly qualifies in this category. Very simply put, so does throwing animals out on display. In an aza environment, for example, animals would undergo a minimal 30 day corontine before ever being placed in view of the general public. ( at least without walls or glass ) This is typically to ensure the animal is not sick, and cannot spread disease to other members of its species if it is. I am curious to see where the animals are coming from. Private owners, or a zoo. I am highly doubting that it is a zoo. And if they are private, what are their licenses or certifications. I would also like to know what animals are going to be used for the petting zoo, and especially for the mazes. I am not trying to start argument. I am just saying that I am curious to know these things. Sorry, but it's just me being..well, ME. It was stated on the news, they are owned by an employee. This makes them private and no need for licenses or certifications. Which is my point. Kings Island, don't take offense to my words, and be careful with this. I've always preached that I want to see the return of animals to K.I. But I have also always preached that next time, it should be done right. A rare 1% of guests treat associates working haunt like they are less than human. Blowing cigarettes in faces, associates getting touched, hit, etc. Please be very careful with animals. I hope they will be monitored very closely.
