  1. I waited in the kids section with my sister and my niece on an extremely busy bring a friend day. We waited hours and I was told that I couldn't ride by myself, and that I had to have a child. I didn't argue, but as I was walking away the ride operator told me to "borrow a kid."
  2. My apologies for such a late response on this topic. I've been busy with surgeries, work, etc. This is a great idea. A very long overdue idea. Maybe they can work out something similar with the Bengals, Buckeyes, and Bearcats.
  3. Those pictures are outstanding. My faves are of the fountain. Incredible clarity. If only it could look that way today.
  4. I miss the Hanna Barbera characters. I liked the Star Trek characters too, although they didn't last long to begin with. My first employer was Paramount's Kings Island. Wow, to be 16 again...sigh. The music was nice as well.
  5. I am not trying to rain on a parade. I was like that, once upon a time. I asked "well why not" just because it sounded fun. But there is so much to establishing a park with animals. The funding, the permits, the insurance, the high maint, breeding programs, choosing to join the AZA ( highly recommended ) which brings to light many many more restrictions, which are all for the better. And not just for the animals, but for the keepers too. For the vets. For the guests. For everyone. I could go on and on. And since Kings Island once had an animal park, the rules regarding the AZA become even tighter. There are loopholes! Naturally. But even still.
  6. I can think of a million reasons why a petting zoo does not belong at a park with the local influence of Kings Island. If a park that size is going to invest in animals, make it worth the merit. Do it right. Or do not do it at all.
  7. I didn't visit Ohio to see any of the SOB's funeral. But I wrote a polite letter saying that I approved of it.
  8. Reindeer! Eiffel Tower Light Tree! Light Tunnel! Retheme urgent scare into a north pole visit! Add a holiday nativity scene, shows, and music, ice skating, decorations, have One gigantic real tree with pink ornaments that can be purchased and named with all dollars earned going towards cancer awareness. Wow.....Winterfest!
  9. To me, a ratrace is going into the trailer at the Santa Fe Zoo in Gainesville, FL. and while in this trailer, being surrounded by hundreds of rats, and the smell of their urine, and fecal material in the hot Florida sun, in a hot trailer. ( Did I mention that it's hot in there? ) And reaching your hand down into a cage full of these rats to select One. And why would I do this? It's dinnertime, of course.
  10. Wow! The Son of Beast finally looks like what I remember it feeling like.
  11. Sheikra at Busch Gardens, Africa. Hands down.
  12. Hey, I think that the Son of Beast, somehow, looks smoother now. Kidding. I went straight to the the old crypt attraction first. This was a nice new feature. My only complaint is the line getting to the main attraction. I would add at least a couple of scary actors along the side of the line. And I went right to this, but it didn't really matter tonight. We were told that the emergency lights were not working, hence an extended delay after it's opening time. But it was worth the wait. Hats off to the 1st mummy in the maze! You made me jump! I told you " Good Job", and it was because I never jump. Then we went through Wolfpack where the remnants of the SOB background look like 2 wooden towers in the dark. Wolfpack had a very short line. But it was very enjoyable. Next on the list was Slaughter House. This house is a real treat, as the line moves fast, and the actors were very energetic. What surprised me here was that the line was entertaining. The new attraction, I believe it is called bloodband was up, and in my opinion, they were great! This show gave me a feel of Halloween Horror Nights, but in Ohio. And judging by the surrounding crowd, I was not the only One who liked them. Then I was off to my oldtime favorite, Carnevil. This was entertaining as usual. And it ended with me wanting some blue icecream. This is all that I had time for today. Overall, this was a great trip. PS...The skeletons on the carousel are an amazing visual!
  13. I will be at the park tomorrow and this will be very interesting to see. As will Haunt. And I had a terp once. I used it to cover my lawnmower. Wait. That's a tarp. Never mind.
  14. To fit the family theme, I would ( in fantasy land ) create a new zoological park back there. One owned and operated by another facility and rented on KI's property. The AZA doesn't like to give it's seal of approval to a park once removed. Or so I've been told. I think that I would call it Zoo Island. And I would focus more on learning without realizing that your learning more than anything else. Hey, I can dream can't I?
  15. That's fascinating. I hope to check it out this weekend. I will be up to visit the Cincinnati Zoo, and I know that I'm taking my niece and nephew with some friends to Young's Jersey Dairy for their pick a pumpkin patch and family friendly haunted hayride. I would also like to visit Haunt, if I have the time. Sigh. I miss Ohio during this time of year. The changing of the seasons is the best.
  16. The museum idea is great. Silver Springs in Ocala, FL. has an indoor facility showing off their parks history, which even features tv's replaying events, tv shows that were filmed there, plaques showing off their history, etc. But here are a few other ideas. This would be an ideal spot to build a new skylift station that carries guests to the waterpark. A maze or a labyrinth could be constructed there, but it would need to be something that could be easily changed day to day or week by week to avoid boredom with passholders. Another idea is a walkthrough storybook, perhaps making use of the peanuts characters. The book could have different outcomes, say if you want for A. to happen walk left and if you want for B. to happen, turn right. I don't know. Like I said, just some ideas.
  17. The Smurfs, and the Big Yellow Slide ( whatever it was called ), and of course going up the Eiffel Tower.
  18. Very sad. My prayers go out to him and to his family and friends. This is the 2nd time that I have seen this today, as I received an email advising that One of my supervisors lost their husband to cancer this morning. I also found out that my wife's sister has breast cancer this past week. This along with my previous friend fighting this terrible disease makes me wonder what's spilling into the air.
  19. That's a good thought. Yea. I was trying to think of a way to make it profitable for a little while. But you are absolutely right. Baaaaad thinking on my part.
  20. They should wait until after haunt, and decorate the heck out of that thing. I would make a haunted trail going back into it. You could put all kinds of strobes on it, hang bodies/skeletons from the track, etc. Make use of the trees around it, and of it's own shadow. It could be pretty awesome.
  21. I've seen skunks, deer, a groundhog, birds, a couple of snakes, chipmunks, squirrels, and I caught a mouse once ( bare hands ) while playing skeeball. I couldn't do much with it, so I just took it outside and let it go. Years ago I saw dolphins, and all kinds of exotic animals. I recently came across a collection of behind the scenes photos, which includes Rhinos lined up alongside the backside of The Racer. ( A good friend of mine took care of animals there once upon a time.) Sigh.....Kings Island could be magnificent with animals again.
  22. Hey! I could use the wood as a frame for a barn! That would be awesome! lol
  23. I don't know about demolition pictures, but I have some good pictures of it's original construction lying around.
