  1. I lament that the whales, tigers, dolphins, and other animals are gone.
  2. My humble opinion is that eventually SOB will be torn down to make room for a world class, smooth steel coaster. The question is not "will SOB be torn down" but when. Maybe this year, next year, 10 years, 50 years, etc. But rest assured, someday SOB will be a thing of the past. Have a great day! Italian Chef
  3. I read that Cedar Fair could have bought CBS' share of the Great Wolf Lodge and chose not to. http://toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...010/-1/BUSINESS I find that odd. Now that CF owns Kings Island, why not own part of the lodge of its property? Any ideas why?? Have a great day! Italian Chef PS - Since CBS doesn't need that stock, think they'll sell it to me pennies on the dollar?
  4. I'd choose the wooden coaster that people keep talking about now as the gossip is getting old. Besides, with it gone there would be lots of room for a large, smooth steel coaster. Now that would rock! Have a great day! Italian Chef
  5. PHANTOM THEATER. That was the most Disney-like ride Kings Island ever had. I still miss it to this day. It was charming, entertaining, and the lines were seldom long. Have a great day! Italian Chef
  6. Considering that Paramount no longer owns the park, I prefer that CF drop the "Paramount" name. Besides, most folks refer to the park as "Kings Island" anyway as it's easier. And on a personal note, I am in the mood for some change. It makes thing interesting and more entertaining. Have a great day! Italian Chef
  7. My guess is that a family-oriented flat ride is planned for next year. Maybe a ferris wheel. Have a great day! Italian Chef
  8. Maureen, Thank you for your dedication. It doesn't matter whether Paramount, Cedar Fair, or even Six Flags owns Kings Island so long as you remain at the park. It is you, and like-minded, dedicated employees, who deliver a world class experience, not corporate. Thank you for all that you do. Sincerely, Charles "Italian Chef" Infosino
  9. Maureen Kaiser is an outstanding professional. I hope that Cedar Fair recognizes her talents and helps her climb the corporate ladder. I can see her as a future general manager. She has what it takes to make an awesome park president. Have a great day! Italian Chef
  10. At 34-years old and the father of a 2-year old, I am HAPPY that there is no longer loud music at the Festhaus. After hearing my son scream and blasting music in other parts of the park - it's nice to sit, dine, and sip in a more quiet, laid back atmosphere. Have a great day! Italian Chef
  11. Today I noticed that the TV screens are gone from Festhaus - and instead we see a gorgeous mural of the mountains. Also, I saw a stained glass window that I never saw before. Does anyone know when and why these changes were made? I like them. Have a great day! Italian Chef
  12. Today I took off from work and went to PKI with one of my friends. As I expected, the park wasn't crowded because it was a Monday. We were there before 10 a.m. First we rode TIJ, which was smooth and fun. Next came FoF which we rode twice. FoF is my favorite coaster, but I would like to update the theming with a new film and props. Still, the ride rocks! Next came SpongBob at the FX Theater. We actually wanted to ride the Hanna-Barbera one, but it wasn't operating yet. I've seen it many times, but it is humorous. Then on to Nickelodeon Universe to try Avatar: The Last Airbender. It was my first time and I was very impressed with it. Avatar is a great ride, smooth, fun and cool. Then we rode Phantom Flyers - which was also my first time. It was fun to fly like superman. *L* Next came Rugrats Runaway Reptar, which was very enjoyable. We then had lunch at Festhaus. I noticed that the TV screens are gone. And without them, a beautiful mural of mountains is displayed on the wall. Plus I noticed for the first time a gorgeous stained glass window. I much prefer Festhaus this way. After lunch we went to the top of the Eiffel Tower, followed by SDATHC. Both are good rides to do when one is digesting food. Then we rode Zephry, the forwards Race (my second favorite coaster), and Adventure Express. After that we did some shopping and called it a day. It was a fun day at PKI. I got lots of rides in. I don't care who owns the park, it is my favorite place in the Tri-State. Have a great day! Italian Chef
  13. Cedar Fair now owns the 5 former Paramount parks. First the parks appeared on the Cedar Fair homepage without the "Paramount" name, now the "Paramount" name has been added. At some point in the future, the name "Paramount" will be legally removed from all 5 parks. This means that the physical signs at the parks, the web sites, and other realms will all drop "Paramount". When do you think this will happen and why? Please vote and state your reasons if you have time. Have a great day! Italian Chef
  14. http://www.cedarfair.com/ That is so so odd. Why did they change the names to Paramount now that they own the parks???? I do hope the name "Paramount" is dropped only to reflect the reality of who owns the parks. We shall see. Have a great day! Italian Chef
  15. I'm surprised it didn't rank higher.
  16. KICentral. PKICentral will become obsolete when www.pki.com does. Also, www.kingsislandcentral is very long and will take up much of your time and space changing the names on images. Have a great day! Italian Chef
  17. If you must know the truth, I tend to drink red wine nearly every day as I'm a 100% ethnic Italian. However, when I typed the post, I had yet to partake in Merlot. Have a great day! Italian Chef
  18. I wish that Sea World was never purchased by Six Flags. I have visited 7 Disney parks in Florida, California, & Japan; Universal Studios in California; and amusement parks in the United States, Japan, and South Korea. But I have NEVER visited a Sea World!!!! Wouldn't it be great if I could just drive to one???? Oh how I wish Sea World was still in Ohio so that I could drive there. Have a great day! Italian Chef
  19. At very least, I doubt that the contract will be renewed in December. And I assume that CF will want to standardize the former PP parks in the CF image. And I don't know whether or not CF's parks have newsletters or how that is handled. Have a great day! Italian Chef
  20. The newsletter writer position was a "contract" job that was set to expire in December and could be terminated at any time. I seriously doubt that CF will keep the Paramount newsletters going. My guess is that we may get one last one to announce the changes. It doesn't make sense of CF to spend resources treating the former Paramount parks differently now that these parks must be integrated into the CF business structure. Have a great day! Italian Chef
  21. I was very disappointed that I didn't get this job. If I did, right now I'd probably be unemployed and begging for my old (which is my current) job back. I believe that there is a song that says, "Thank God for unanswered prayers". This is definitely the case for me. This is probably the first time in my life that I am VERY HAPPY I was rejected. Have a great day! Italian Chef
  22. With all the debt that Six Flags has, it is better to shrink and survive and than to stay big and go bankrupt. I feel bad for the company, but we all do what we must to survive in life and in business. On a personal note, I hope that they don't sell SFKK because I like knowing that the Justice League and Looney Tune characters are a 2-hour drive away. Have a great day! Italian Chef
  23. I think that Cedar Fair will end up selling their share of Star Trek: The Experience. First off, they didn't include it on their map of parks. That alone makes me wonder. And secondly, ST: TE really doesn't fit Cedar Fair. It is a movie-based, Vegas attraction. CF is an amusement park business without any connections to Hollywood. That's my opinion anyway. If Mr. K. is reading this email, I will gladly take Star Trek: The Experience of Cedar Fair's hands for $200. That's all I can afford. Have a great day! Italian Chef
  24. Today Mrs. Chef, Toddler Chef, and I headed to PKI. Much to my delight, the park wasn't too crowded and the weather was beautiful. I managed to ride AE and The Racer alone and hardly waited at all. We had a snack and saw many of the folksy shows, rode a few Nickelodeon rides and enjoyed the Nickelodeon Parade. It was a fun, family day. Next time we plan to visit CDBB. Earlier this year Toddler Chef got sick a lot of PKI because he has allergies. Now that we know it, he takes allergy medicine and has a grand time. It was interesting to hang out at PKI today knowing that the "P" no longer owns the park and the name will be changed soon. I don't care who owns Kings Island, I love it the same. Have a great day! Italian Chef
  25. The deal is done. The 5 Paramount parks will now become Cedar Fair parks. Groovy. But what about Star Trek: The Experience? It is directly related to Paramount Pictures and it is NOT an amusement park. Though CF now owns it, does it make sense for CF to keep it? Does anyone think they will close it down or sell it? I think it was a mistake for Viacom to put it under PP's management when the company split in half last year. Any ideas on the future of Star Trek: The Experience? And what about Bonfante Gardens? Paramount Parks did NOT own the park, but managed it. Will Cedar Fair manage the park or does the park need to seek new management? Does anyone know? Have a great day! Italian Chef
