  1. If you drive past Ki you will notice they are getting an impressive skyline, I wish this would include the sky tram also they used to have. I know this probably would never happen again but i would like it.
  2. I am also looking for a late 70's early 80's rides employee hand books and contact yearbooks (where all the rides personal was listed) I used to have one but don't anymore.....
  3. Hmmmm, Wondering if I knew your brother then. You might have, we only worked for a few weeks at winterfest in foods, we floated around alot and never really got to know anyone there in foods. We worked in rides through out the summer seasons for a long time..... The other day I stopped in a thrift store and found some old fur lined Kings Island winterfest jackets. Of course I bought them. Why? I have no clue....lol
  4. I have lots of pics somewhere.... If i can find them, I have a classic pic of where my brother worked at winter fest in foods back in the 80's and we were getting yelled at by our supervisor, wow he was a *&$^&***(& , we were being reprimanded cause instead of making festive Xmas doughnuts we decorated them in orange and black halloween style(only cause he was a jerk, oh those were the rebellious days) however I have pics somewhere of the Screamn Demon, which was the first ride I ever worked on. If I find these pics I will post them.
  5. They do woofer then they use popsicle sticks and duct tape to hold it together for the remainder of the day....
  6. Wanted to add that in the " giant slide" days we were always in trouble by wardrobe for daily burn holes in our pants. Those plastic infused gabardine pants would actually melt when we slide down without a rug....For such a simple ride there were a lot of nasty accidents..... On a hot sunny day we would wax it and then put wax paper under our rugs and you would go out to the games which was across the street at that time...Had to watch out for that railing at the bottom cause it would take your head off if you didn't lay back when you went under it.... I guess when i found this above article stashed away in a keep sakes box a few months ago it brought back a lot of memories and I remembered how the park and times have changed throughout the years. Sorry for the rantings of days long gone.
  7. Anyone from food service? Was wondering if Bubba Gumps patio is going to be back or if it is being re-themed? I am craving those hot wings they had att he bar in back. Although they were better a few years back I thought when they had the bones in wings, I also think when they served only the boneless wings the last few years the sauce changed.....
  8. Well yeah I am pretty old I am 41 now.... ... I have a lot of history at KI and PKI. Many years of service.
  9. This is a pic i found of me and my brother( I am on the left side) in a newspaper clipping dating back to 1982, snazzy uniforms were they not?.... My brother actually did become a helicopter pilot like he said in the article and was killed in 1986 Germany in a copter accident, i mentioned something about being an oceanogropher or something, I was just talking out of my ass, all i cared about then was the awesome parties that were held weekly by rides co-workers..... Those were some of the best times of my life... I moved on to a professional career some years later and even went into the live shows at pki in the 90's , but you just gotta love those big white belts in the photo...lmao
  10. As for planning for the 2008 season, I am sure they are. Most things are not planned overnight then implemeted the next morning......
  11. I was heart broken when a few years ago I go to the Nickelodeon theatre to find all the seats taken out and the house was filled in with concrete to a flat slab even with the stage...How disapointing...
  12. Click-2-Listen By Denise G. Callahan Staff Writer Monday, February 05, 2007 Firehawk is flying in to Kings Island from Geauga Lake piece by piece and will open Memorial Day. Extras Latest headlines Kings Island's new Firehawk set to soar in spring (comment on this) Jury comes to a verdict: Guilty Free tax preparation starts today Lebanon tries to woo Armor Holdings Miami couple have date with 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire' Get latest headlines via RSS feeds All the speculation was true  those giant neon green tubes in the parking lot are the skeleton of the X-flight ride that used to stand in the Aurora park. More than 300 pieces have been transported down I-71 on flatbed trucks since December. Kings Island said the new ride is like none other at the park that boasts several one-of-a-kind rides. Marketing Director Maureen Kaiser said she has braved the thrill ride before, and it's awesome. "You are sitting four across in the seat and have a shoulder holster and lap bar holding you in. The ride starts out and you are leaning back as you travel up 115 feet. You are facing the sky and going up backward, when you get to the top it turns over and you are facing the ground and go through five inversions at 50 m.p.h.," she said. "It really feels like you are flying. I've never felt anything like it before." It takes about 2 1/2 minutes to jet through the half-mile track. The Firehawk is going in next to and slightly behind the Flight of Fear. Work crews are setting up footings now and the ride assembly should begin soon. Kaiser said the ride takes up about five-and-a-half acres. Sandusky-based Cedar Fair L.P. purchased Kings Island last summer and Kaiser said at the time they weren't sure whether they would get a new attraction this season. But their new parent is investing $10 million in the Mason park. The ride tear down and reassembly will eat up about three quarters of that capital budget and the rest was invested in the Son of Beast restoration and for a new show that will be introduced shortly. Greg Scheid, Kings Island's vice president and general manager, said he was thrilled with the new thrill ride. "The addition of Firehawk reflects out commitment to combining one-of-a-kind thrills with fantastic family entertainment," Scheid said. "We're looking for some real thrill seekers who are ready and willing to fly. What a way to celebrate our 35th anniversary!"
  13. Jasper if you are looking for the other seasons of the Brady Bunch, check out oldies.com. I am not sure if they have the brady bunch however they have alot of older tv series and movies I have never found anywhere else.... Awesome prices also.....
  14. Way way back in the day I worked on the giant slide for a few years in coney. Just talked to a friend who worked also on the same ride. He has a pic of us from the early 80's on top of the side in our snazzy blue gaberdine pants, white belts & red/white pin stripe shirts...lol
  15. I am thankful I am only a few minutes from KI.
  16. Happy sat., Wonder if the season passes went up a few bucks. They are now 89 bucks i bought mine a few weeks ago at 84 bucks....I bought them online. Yes i am a tard but I have to ask...lol.... I printed out my stuff online, do you take that to the window and get a ticket then go wait in line to have a pic taken? When I bought them online it asked if I wanted to register them so i didnt have to at the park, I think I clicked the link but never asked me anything so I dont know....
  17. Perks or no perks, I am just thankful I got a pass and get to live so close to the park, only 10 minutes away..
  18. now if you have something from the early 80's or from the 1995 show, house of groove i might be intrested
  19. As I said i called about a simple question, no ones name was mentioned..... And for your information I am a good father... I cant believe this guy has nothing better to do than to dis someone over a post, sheesh get a life........And I do everything humanly possible for my kids but like I said when I called it was a general question no names were mentioned.... So if you have a problem with that I feel sorry for you...... Oh yeah another thing, this was about calling to get info on if they were sending out rehire packets (anonymous call).
  20. Maybe that's the fact. If it isn't; I would certainly recommend reconsidering any phone calls. thats what i did i did not call for my son....... however if i did so be it, but i never......
  21. You're calling your son's employer about his job? Now there is encouraging personal responsibility. <G> no actually i am going to call a friend who works there, full timer...i would'nt ever call about my kids jobs, thats their responsibility
  22. My son just got a letter from KI and said everyone has to re-fill out a hire application this year and in the comments section mention if you were a crew leader or above.... so we will see what happens, i am calling today since they are open...
  23. Does not matter how much they pay actually... There will always be a Kings Island, and people can ***** all they want but thats the way it is and we cant change it....No matter who owns it.... Everyone has a opinion and thats what these boards are for, however the post about high turnover rates will be high and i agree but there will always be someone to replace someone who quits or who is a %age to this turnover rate.... Some things i dont like about the park and some i do , but no matter what i will always go there until the day i die...
  24. All I have to say is bring back the camp ground and the roaming beer carts...hehehe.....
  25. when i worked in entertainment at pki we made a salery, want hourly such as the other departments......
