  1. http://www.valleyfair.com/public/news/index.cfm?story_id=95&mode=story&current_root=12 Can't get any better conformation, the news release from Valleyfair.
  2. Lake Compounce is a Pepsi park, not a Coke park. The skyride was nice and relaxing, plus the view of ESPN was cool. The park was owned by Kennywood before the Parques Reunidos aquisition of Kennywood Entertainment, thus the similar entrances, Potato Patch fries, and the Kennywood arrow (without the word Kennywood) on the bumper cars. GR there is excellent, allowing my family to ride the kiddie coaster after pointing out there was no sign mentioning a height limit. Is there a sign now?
  3. IHOP has a mascot? The danger comes with the job, here is the description from CP. (I bold text the warning section). http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/jobs/summer/descriptions.cfm
  4. If you mean CP, expect crowds for another reason. It's UFCW local 880 day, which covers most grocery stores in the Cleveland area. On a side note, I will most likely be there to see the present opened. My guess is a statue of Kinzel.
  5. Yes, I have seen many people with tripods at both KI and CP. Just make sure your not in the way, or on a ride.
  6. ^Actual brought back, those were the uniforms of the 70's and 80's, thought to be gone forever.
  7. You can take pictures from any public midway, parking lot, Que line and ride platform (as long as it does not interfere with operations). On ride photography is prohibited except on KI&MVRR and the Eiffel Tower. Flash photography is prohibited during performances, but non flash is allowed. Finally, photography in restrooms is prohibited (yes that is an actual rule.)
  8. http://www.cedarfair...ry&story_id=249 Attendance up from last year, in park spending is down again.
  9. Stratosoar? Really, that is the name of a ride at one of 11 CF parks? I don't like it.
  10. I have cousin who live nearby, in the mid 90's they won free tickets to Prehistoric Forest. The park was corny, outdated, and a bit run down back then, I'm surprised there still open (for now at least). Erie and Ottawa counties are terrible at promoting the nearby attractions, my favorite is the Merry-Go-Round Museum in downtown Sandusky, good luck finding out about it if you don't know about it.
  11. ^PhantomTheater, who enjoys the ejector seat on Magnum and Racer, especially when the trim breaks are off. I say bring the pain!
  12. My ranking of stand ups I have been on, space is intentional to show the steep drop off between 3 and 4. King Cobra KI Skyrider Canada's Wonderland Shockwave KD Iron Wolf SFGAm Mantis CP Chang SFKK Vortex Carowinds I enjoy Togo stand ups with KC being my favorite, Skyrider is my favorite operational stand up. The B&M's I find painful and ruff. I have yet to find a stand up that does not crush a certain part of the male anatomy.
  13. They do give out free ice water, and make sure to ride Dominator.
  14. I can't imagine that ODNR or the Coast Guard would approve of a coaster over the lake. Maintenance would be awful too, not to mention what winter would do to it.
  15. Like losing a dear friend, going to auction preview day was like going to a wake. The mood was somber, it was eerily quiet, and I almost cried when I said goodbye to Double Loop (my first coaster). I hugged the lead car long and hard before leaving, hopping that something might save it. A month later, the images of the scrapping made me cry again. 2 years later I'm still hoping for a positive outcome for the Dipper and Carousel, if either reopen somewhere I will drive to be there opening day no matter how far, and shed tears of happiness.
  16. CP has already dealt with that situation twice, first was building perimeter road. The second solution is in between Magnum and Challenge Park.
  17. That beach is the reason CP exist, before it was "America's Roller Coast" the park was known as "Queen of American Watering Place" (Also a title of a must read for any CP fan.) It is stil popular today with the resort guests, I don't see the beach going anytime soon. The area highlighted by Planet Snoopy would be difficult to use, the historic convention center (not that CF cares to preserve history), coral courtyard, food service office, employee cafe, part of the administration offices, and food warehouse. However the Ocean Motion spot is available there. I cant see putting in a ride on the Hot Summer Lights Midway without the removal of Wildcat as circled. Inside the games is the Merch Warehouse, and in between Mean Steak and Gemini is the Planing and Design office but there is room around that one. Finally, the pavilions up front. The one immediately next to Raptor is for catered groups, but doesn't see much use now a days, but the front ones are for public use and are jammed packed every day. Removal of those would not sit well with many park goers. LHP, and Camper Village are very popular and even though occupancy has been down at the Resorts, they are not going anywhere. They make money for the park, and help out attendence. EDIT: Fixed Quote Box
  18. Have they improved security friendliness at Great Escape? Last year they were very rude, including yelling at me for not leaving the comet after close even though the op told them my restraint was jammed. Also another one blocked my mother from taking a picture of the carousel on the way out.
  19. The restraint system on CCMR is the same one the ride came with in 1969. Arrow thought is a good idea that all the lap bars in a car were connected, on paper it seems like a good idea.
  20. I got in a polite argument with security about not letting me into a gift shop right behind them at 6:05pm (early season). I then went to GR to complain about it, the response was unless I knew the specific item in that store, I could not go into it. Then she stated rudely that I had all day to browse the gift shops to make purchases, which I replied that I cant carry loose articles on the rides. Talk about a company that doesn't want any nickles. This was last year too. PS. Am I the only one who wasn't blown away by Bizzaro.
  21. Wonderland is my favorite ex-Paramount park, It still has great themeing and I-street still feels International (at least in '06). One of the best features involves looking down, the midways are all pavers, did you notice? By the way, I love me some Mine buster.
  22. Mean Streak only has two rows per car, you will be over a wheel. As for the others, sit in the middle of a car to avoid a wheel. Mine Ride fits into this catagory as well. Don't forget to ride Wildcat and Cedar Downs as well.
  23. I suggest Lemmy's out near Rye Beach Rd or Berardi's in Huron, where one can get the real CP fresh cut fries. Also on 250 Lee's famous recipe is delicious, and as others recommended Chet and Matt's (which I finally got to this season)
  24. What you cant see from the webcams, are the resort lots (only half of breakers is visible) and Soak City lot (which a lot of people use for the main park). The main lot can be quite deceiving sometimes. CP is a Peninsula, connected by a sandbar. I lost an arguement once on this, I hadn't noticed the sign right behind me. As others have stated, avoid Columbus day weekend like the plague.
