Diamondback Construction Thread (Updated 3-19-09)

^^Brownies are going to need all the help they can get this season!! -
^^Glad you all are havin' a laugh...I still wish some CF heads were on pike's right now!!
-
The un-needed seatbelts on Vortex and Flight Deck (and the troika) are an example, in addition to the "tame-ing down" of rides like Mean Streak (first drop trim) and reversing the backwards Racer...oh, I didn't want to forget the "check...check...check..." either! Haha...no...I'm not that Intamin dude...it's just, IMO, I could never see CF building El Toro or T-Express as they currently exist (with the U-bars, and negative-g dynamics).
-
^^You bring up a lot of good points, so maybe I stand corrected. But for me, the Flash Passes at SF are a huge plus, and CF goes over-board at times with safety. Not to mention, SF is VERY hard-core with enforcement of some of their rules, particularly with the smoking policies and code of conduct. If you smoke in a non-designated place at many SF parks, you're done!!...ejected for the day, no questions asked. At KI, a smoker in the SOB line is the expectation.

Not to come off as rude but they've been advertising it for weeks now. No, by all means, be rude!! I had no idea!?!? How long have they been doing this?? I'm kind of mad I didn't know about this during my last KI trip!! When I talked to Tony Clark in person at Cedar Point on Sept. 7th that bum told me 09 processing wasn't happening until 09 (barring KBF)!?! Needless to say, I'll be b*tching at Guest Relations and ripping someone's head off (since it will make me "feel better" ) right after I get my 09 Pass processed...freaking idiots, I tell ya!!
-
So maybe I'm missing something, but are you confirming they're processing 2009 Platinum Passes *now*?! (and your 08 PP will also be used as your 09 PP?)

^^Wait a minute...Maverick over MF?!?!

^^Really?? Ok, that's what I was wondering since it did seem like D-back's lift was steeper than those two...interesting, indeed!! Thanks.. -

Ascent, I already know drop. -
I think Beast1979 hit the nail on the head...
-
^^Admittedly, I didn't go to KI much last Sept and Oct (at CP, instead), but I thought July and Aug were decent...either way, 05 was the time for marathoning!!

RR, care to bust out the protractor for Behemoth's and Nitro's lift angle?? -
Well i beet it along time ago then! I miss the days when the general public hated SOB and there was never a wait, when i could just stay on for 20 rides in a row! Those were the days... Was this post-neutering?? If so, when was that?? Since re-opening in July 07 the SOB lines have always seemed to be pretty decent from what I've seen!! Now, back in 05 and 06 there were times where SOB consistently had small lines. Also, IMO, the back seat is WAY more smooth on Blue than Red. In fact, I think Blue is smoother than Red overall...want proof? Watch when the trains come back...after the ride op asks how was that ride? The screams from Blue are always consistently louder and more enthusiastic than Red!! Plus, this SOB ride op (Kathryn?) even said she thought Blue was the smoothest. But I rarely ride front seat, so who knows about that?

^^Ehhh...giant top spins are cool time killers at parks like Dorney or Great Adventure. I think the prob with The Crypt is that it's inside!! The outside one's are much more thrilling (and yes, I am aware that KI's is built to only operate indoors), but realize that with Paramount, theme and family atmosphere over-rode thrills!! (i.e. KI building BLSC and TR:TR while CF was building Hydra's and Patriot's!!)
-
Good TR!! I have to make this short since I'm going to lunch now, but Medusa opens late now (starting this season-mostly, but some last season) as a budget cut measure (since it's so far back in the park). Yet, on many days this summer, I still rode before noon. The slow operations have been like that many times from what I've seen...maybe it's pandemic with them since the Sea World one in CA is no better. You would think with the new loose article policy things have improved?? About El Toro...it's a billion times better than the Voyage...I wonder if you braced at all the right times if it would be better for you?? Interesting to hear some about Nitro's queue since I've always entered through the exit with Flash Pass, but the "sea of queue rails" sounds like an interesting sight! But anyway, glad you had a good trip, but you seriously needed more time! My first trip lasted 3 days, and made the experience better. Hope you get back soon!

^^Aren't the current cheaper gas prices helping the 09 PP cause?!?
-
^^Well, usually I abbreviate Great Adventure as GAdv, BUT...then someone in another thread referred to Great America as SFGA and Terpy told them SFGA=Great Adventure, and SFGAm=Great America. Btw...I think maybe Terpy could be referring to SFOG Monster Mansion, which is undergoing some significant renovations in the offseason (per Screamscape).
-
Which ride would that be? I tried looking at DAFE's website and a few others and couldn't figure it out. Consider Terpy's favorite parks... SFOG and SFGA are two biggies of his!!
-
For what it's worth, just in an act of patronizing, I'll be asking people if they've ridden "The Diamondback" in the park all season next year!!

^^The bigger question is....such significant work on a Friday?!?! Beast1979? Anyone?!?
