Special Treat from KingsIslandOnline
tycoonrebel7188 replied to coaster_junky's topic in Kings Island
I love how at the end of The Beast POV you can see the stage and the SoB Box that were set up for the SoB announcement. -
The Brake shed was originally used as a block break. For example, if you look at the "Most Famous" picture of The Beast, you can see that the train on lift one is already cresting the lift, while the train on lift 2 is not cresting yet. If for some reason, Lift 2 were to stop and lift 1 were to continue, the train from lift 1 would have stopped in the Brake shed. And Delorean Rider, your description of Todays blocking system on The Beast is slightly wrong. Yes, for all intensive purposes, there are only 5 block, only because in the computer, blocks 2 and 3 are counted as one. Blocks 2 and 3 run from the top of lift 1 to the top of lift 2. In actuality, according to the Block Lights on the control panel, there are 6 blocks, and all of yours are right Delorean Rider except for number 5 and the omission of block 6. Block 5 is only the Ready Brakes, just outside of the station, and Block 6 is the station.

Carowinds Gets CP Site Overhaul
tycoonrebel7188 replied to bkroz's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
When I click on the Store link, it takes you to a site to purchase tickets. I don't think Carowinds has a site like our Marketplace. -
I think the Live Show aspect would only work when Boomerang Bay is not open. The train being on a schedule to keep to trains a safe distance apart, a show could only be done with out the train stopping.

[quote name='rotag1299' date='25 February 2010 - 11:57 PM' timestamp='1267160226' post='364523' the former pumpkin patch could be themed as a frontiersman's abode or farm with a horse drawn buggy (minus the horse) I think this is a very good rotag. I think it would be very cool if they started out with a progressive story along the train route. Start with the Frontiersman's house, go around the corner and ending up in the town with the General Store and the Mary Rose Inn. Also, an idea for the #5 brown shelter, is to make it into a Blacksmith's Store.

I think this a great idea Paul. For picture #1, I think all that building would need is a little fresh paint or white wash on the window frames, a freshly painted sign, a little soffit work and a revamped fireplace that we couldn't see the seams on too easily. As for picture #4, the weeds growing out of the top and a new coat of stain would do wonders to spruce up the Old Fort.

ah. I stand corrected. The name of the boat in Forrest Gump was Jenny. Bubba was Forrest's friend from Vietnam.

Well Beast, they said they would release info, and well, there you go. It may not be the info that was wanted, but it is, none the less, information.

The Theme Park Guy
tycoonrebel7188 replied to Coney Islander's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Would a place like Indiana Beach be considered a Theme Park though? I only ask this because i've never been, and this guy, after all, is called The Theme Park Guy. It stands to reason, at least in my mind, that he wouldn't be The Theme Park Guy if he was going to places like Indiana Beach if it is not a "theme park". I think there is the possibility that he made the trip to Paramount's Kings Island, it was after all considered a theme park by its parent company. Kings Island, as it stands today, isn't considered a theme park by its parent company, Cedar Fair, as far as I know. -
I completely agree that it will be a store for this year, but I think it could very well become a sit down in the future. I believe the Ice Cream stand could be turned into a store much like the store in Action Zone. Plus the Ice Cream store in it's current spot does a lot to congest the midway on busy days. ^I also agree with you Cory, I love GameDay Grille at Cedar Point, and I think it would do well at KI.
-
I agree with Tyler, but I think it would be very neat to see the place as a sit down restaurant with the same theme as Joe Cool Cafe at Cedar Point. I ate there with my friends this past summer and while eating I found myself looking around to read the Peanuts comic strips on the walls. The food was even decent there.

World's most popular beagle arrives at Kings Island
tycoonrebel7188 replied to coaster_junky's topic in Kings Island
^I thought the same thing to myself! Don's usually the one carrying around the camera though. -
^You are correct. My brother is 15 at the moment and turns 16 a week and a half after the park opens. He applied and received a response email saying to call to set up an interview two weeks before his birthday. So it seams the park has changed their hiring practice slightly. I had been told in the past of people applying and getting hired while 15 but not being able to train or work until they had turned 16.
-
The Job Fair is to interview to get job. You sir have already attained a job. So no, there is no need for you to go to the Job Fair, unless the Human Resources department told you there was a need for you to go.

I am excited to see that we will be receiving 4 new shows this season! Hopefully they all turn out great! I liked Signed, Sealed, Delivered! when I saw it at Cedar Point, I hope to see our entertainment department pull it off well. I have a feeling Charlie Brown's Hoedown will be in the previous Nick Theater. That being said, it'll probably be more oriented towards children, don't know if many adults will enjoy it.

As far as I can tell Canada's Wonderland does not have a PlanetSnoopy.com site. I have seen that their park has the new Info on their parks main site. http://www.canadaswonderland.com/attractions/category.cfm?ac_id=21
-
I like it too. And according to Newsplusnotes The new Boo Blasters will allow riders to "meet up with Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin." If this happens with ours, I think it will turn out pretty cool.
-
Just going to throw this out there, Canada's Wonderland had released the names of the rides that are getting rethemed for Planet Snoopy. http://www.canadaswonderland.com/attractions/category.cfm?ac_id=21

If you are a rehire you will get a letter in the mail (or maybe an email) with the information about the party.
-
^Could be. That or the giant flat Ang on top has been removed.

Upon further study of the picture, I very much agree with you Diamondback FoF. If you look at the right side of the picture you can see dark lines on the rails of the track where the wheels used to ride. Then if you look toward the center of the picture to where the paint appears to be new, there is no paint worn away.
-
I thought it was new coat too, but then it dawned on me that it was raining. So I thought that maybe it was just that the track was wet, but I don't know for sure. Color looks too bright to be the old yellow I think.

^^ There is grease on the lapbars, just not the orange part that holds the rider in. I can say from experience that i've accidentally stuck my hand in grease on the black portion on the lower end of the bar, where the bar connects to the rest of the train. It all depends on how fast maintenance decides to slap the grease on the connection.
-
The Wood Coaster Maintenance building as it is. I believe that it is located in one of the buildings next to Racer.

^^That third picture is one of the Chassis upside down. It looks like the wheels and the brake fin have been removed from the bottom.
