  1. Ok good to see the calendar is back to it's old self. I'm not sure what was going on with it last night...maybe I was blind. Frank is a good contact so I trust what he says. He has given me some reliable information in the past.
  2. I just looked at the park calendar and it appears that they have also changed their last day for the season to Sept 1. A few months ago they were open weekends in October for Fright Fest.
  3. Last year I was talked to the manager of park operations and he mentioned there were plans for SFKK to open their own parking lot. Could it be that they are going to turn this area into a parking lot? I looked at the area on mapquest and it would be about the same size parking lot that they use now. If this is the case here comes $20 parking and with not much room to add anything else I worry about the remaining life left in SFKK.
  4. An interesting video from a local news channel...does anyone else notice the Tivo menu? http://www.whas11.com/video/index.html?nvid=222155
  5. Good point I guess I can't say that it was moved because it valleyed. I've noticed the catwalks on some other vecoma boomerangs...good feature
  6. Yeah I always thought the history of Starchaser was interesting. Another defunct ride with an interesting history is The Vampire which the park removed after it stranded riders for hours twice in a few weeks. The Vampire was originally located in China of all places http://www.rcdb.com/id174.htm
  7. Yes they had a ride called the star chaser that injured several people when two cars collided. That ride was removed and relocated...has anyone heard if STOP is being scraped/sold/used for parts? http://www.coaster-net.com/parkgallery.php...splay&id=46
  8. The ride is now topless. http://www.dotphoto.com/go.asp?l=neo8820&a...8600&Pres=Y
  9. Not much changed since yesterday. I did notice some people on top of the ride and it looks like one of the cables is freely blowing in the wind. My guess is they are removing the remaining cables, motor, ride gondolas etc. first. http://www.dotphoto.com/go.asp?l=neo8820&a...8600&Pres=Y
  10. Yes Feb 1st was the original date but the fair grounds asked them to delay. http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.d...EWS01/802010443 When I went out for lunch there was no new progress the cranes looked like they were in the same position.
  11. I was driving to work today and saw two cranes beside STOP so I thought I would take some pictures. I would say the ride's time could be measured in days if not hours now. I'm going to drive by again on lunch and will post new pictures if there is any change. http://www.dotphoto.com/go.asp?l=neo8820&a...8600&Pres=Y
  12. The kiddie part of the park bumps right up next to STOP. My guess is a small flat to add to the kiddie area.
  13. Usually is the key word here. STOP was not a major reason people came to the park. It was almost always a walk on or at most a 2 cycle wait.
  14. I agree a third train and tunnel would help a lot.
  15. I certainly had high expectations. I was actually thinking of picking up some SIX stock hoping the price would surge after the 3Q results. Glad I didnt'.
  16. Oy Vey Tilt-a-Whirl is now old scrape. What about the folks that come to parks and enjoy the old Nostalgia? I.E. Grandparents brining there grandchildren to the park...
  17. Did he just say removal of flat rides with low throughput?
  18. Six flags to extend operating hours into Nov for some parks and will offer a Christmas event at one of their parks in the North.
  19. They just released the #s on their investor site. Looks like they were down significantly in attendance and income. They are blaming it on weather and the SFKK incident.
  20. I have mixed feelings about SFKK. It's my home park so I tend to like it. Is it as good as KI? No. Is it worth the trip? From Cincy I'd say yes. The park has really cleaned itself up over the past few years. The staff is friendlier, rides are freshly painted. Also, they spent a huge amount of capital during the 06/07 off season on the water park. In addition to new chairs, cabanas, a new kids area and fresh paint on everything they added Deluge which is very neat. I do find the park to be a bit lacking in the coaster department. Sure they have... Chang which in my opinion is better than Mantis Thunder Run one of the better wooden coaster I've been on Greezed Lightnin' a really cool classic shuttle coaster but other than that nothing special. T2 is a prototype Hang n' Bang so it "bangs" more than others and the Twins or Sisters or whatever they call them are boring as hell. They have some decent flats. Breakdance is insane! Of course there is the dutchman too.
  21. Yet another inappropriate comment about a tragic situation...sigh. Also, it's STOP not SPOT.

    eek! Top gun!

What other incidents have happened on STOP?
  23. The 1st gen drop ride at Six Flags over Georgia was my first drop ride (even though I have a lovely prototype 2nd gen in my own back yard at SFKK). There is something about it that is cool. I always worry that when you move forward from the elevator shaft I'm not going to get perfectly aligned on the drop track. Yes I know I have irrational fears!
  24. Hmm...someone has been reading too much scream scape!
