Absolutely! I only trust news from the Dippin Dots boy!

The rides I remember from my childhood that I really miss are the Smurf ride and the witches brew??? ride.
-
Can brakes be turned on or off without reprogramming the ride? Seems like you would have to take the program that controls the blocks etc. and redo a portion of it.

Let's not forget about the rank in which The Interpreter is the only member

I do agree I miss the loop.

My back hurts at the thought of that

Theme Park Halloween Music
neo8820 replied to neo8820's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Thanks for the tip on Nox Arcacna. Their Transylvania album has the feel of what I was looking for. Keep the suggestions coming! -
Can anyone think of some songs theme parks play during their Halloween events?

That's hillarious...I'm dying here -
It looks like CNL and PARC Management picked up Six Flags parks that they dumped last year. Could SFKK be next? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PARC_Management http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CNL_Income_Properties

"Park News - (10/5/07) A weird story came in from the spy network today about Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. We’ve heard that Ed Hart and his group, the former owners who really built the park up and then sold it to Six Flags years ago for a nice little profit, have been seen touring the park lately with the new GM and some Six Flags corporate types. We know the previous GM of SFKK was moved to Six Flags Magic Mountain not too long ago, and we’ve heard that a few other members of upper management may have also transferred to SFMM of late, following in his footsteps. You know what they say about rats leaving a sinking ship… so it’s starting to look like ThemeParks LLC (who is now associated with the CNL, the backers of PARC Management) may be in talks to buy Kentucky Kingdom from Six Flags. Anyone else know more?" http://www.screamscape.com/html/six_flags_...cky_kingdom.htm

So since I'm here on a bad weekend...which rides should I hit up since I probably won't be able to do them all?

Columbus Day.

After a trip to KI on Friday evening the wife and I drove up to Cedar Point today. This was the first time either of us had been to Cedar Point so we didn't know what to expect. It got so busy after dark that we decided to leave. EVERYTHING had a two hour wait even stuff like Wild One, Mantis etc. Unfortunately, I feel like I didn't get everything I wanted to accomplish done. We got one ride on Magnum but weren't able to touch MF, Maverick, TTD or Raptor. It looks like we are going to try and go back tomorrow to catch those 4 rides. We are going to get there around 10 but have to leave at 3 which only leaves us 5 hours. If it was like it is today that will allow us to ride two rides. I have two questions. 1. Do you think tomorrow will be as bad? 2. Which rides in order should we try to ride out of MF, TTD, Maverick and Raptor and why?

That would be great. That part of the park needs something besides the Twins.
-
Yes I can see it from where I work. However, scream scape is reporting a rumor that once the state releases the ride back to SFKK it will be torn down.
-
Yeah from the couple of times I talked to Jay he seemed like a great person.
-
I care since it's right by my house. It's a nice park to go to when you can't drive 2+ hours away to KI. They are making some noticable improvments over the past few years and I believe are moving in a better direction than they were before the new CEO took over.

It seems several parks have announced their plans for next year. Has anyone heard anything about SFKK?

Save The Big Dipper!
neo8820 replied to FOFirehawkFAN's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Does anyone know if ACE is doing something to try and save the dipper? I noticed on rcdb that it is an ace classic. If a group like ACE went to Cedar Fair there might be a chance. I think it would be kind of neat to have a water park with a great classic coaster. For some reason it reminds me of a board walk on the east coast I hate to see such a great example of early American coaster history meet the wrecking ball. -

New for Holiday World in 2008
neo8820 replied to Browntggrr's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
They added a new slide at Holiday world this year along with a Tilt a Whirl. Bakuli was voted the number 1 new waterpark ride for 2007 which I don't think is too shabby! -

Not that I was expecting or even think that they need a new coaster for next year the quote "We have a pretty good idea of what we are adding next year" makes me think it isn't anything that takes a while to plan like a big expansion or a new large ride. What does everyone else think?
