Kings Island to add “family thrill” attraction in 2026
BoddaH1994 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Where did you see this? All I was able to interpret was that it was a construction commencement, but I’m not necessarily great at reading these. Boy do I hope the Vekoma thing is right. That opens up many possibilities. -

Plus, the commencement that they filed lists Zamperla but not Vekoma. Not that it means EVERYTHING, but it's not looking good for this rumor. I'd love to see a Big Bear Mountain-esque ride. -
It’ll be Sam’s Choice Cola Coffee.

For the coffee lovers, the Drink Plan+ covers coffee, and it’s a Starbucks House Blend and French Vanilla. Both of which is pretty good! Made my Drink Plan+ worth it! So yeah, if they get rid of Starbucks, I’m still okay. …and I bet Skyline is here to stay!

They close the seating area at like 7:00 or 8:00 for this reason.

”As adorable as it is predictable…”

OMG which rides???

Within a couple of weeks. I’d guess they’d be about down by now if the weather hadn’t been so bad. When they first started doing this, it took them days to put them up and take them down. Now it’s about a day’s worth of work. They won’t do it if it’s super-cold. Who would want to go up there in this weather?

The park’s response when asked if there would be ride removals
BoddaH1994 replied to Cincinatired's topic in Kings Island
A few possibilities: 1. They don’t know yet. 2. They know but aren’t allowed to say. 3. They don’t want to fall down the same trap that the other Six Flags did by denying. The park has had issues with transparency for a few years now, but to be honest I’d rather have this than be lied to. -
Same weekend is HNW. I wonder how that’ll affect things.
-
They appear to be working now for me as well. Another point of interest. No snow on a lot of the ice rink? I wonder if they put heaters under it to help accommodate the ice melt so they can take it down.

I, like many of you, wanted to see the park in the snow, but it appears that the web cams are frozen (no pun intended). I don’t see any lights in the ghost stills, so I’m guessing they’re without power. Can anyone confirm this? Stay warm and safe out there, everyone!

RIP Kings Dominion WinterFest?
BoddaH1994 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Probably helping to hide Kings Island’s 2025 calendar. Buy your Silver Pass. -
https://x.com/briansterowski/status/1875384256282947973?s=46 I’m not sure who the original poster is, but I’ve heard this from a few places. It’s possible that Kings Dominion WinterFest may holding its last ever event this weekend. No word on whether Kings Island will have WinterFest 2025. Buy your Silver Pass.

Well, they finished in the top 10. There’s that. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/entertainment/2025/01/02/kings-island-snoopy-soap-box-racers-best-new-attraction-usa-today-10best/77350366007/?utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook#4qgwcvrapiuhgpa8dj9l8hr5jdp1agy

So many possible projects, where does the park even start?
BoddaH1994 replied to Taylor.B03's topic in Coming Attractions
That’s true. It’ll probably be vacant for the better part of a decade like The Vortex plot. -

Can’t wait for Flight of Fear to be removed so we can get a Haunt maze in there. -
Shady Maple Picnic Grove
BoddaH1994 replied to Losantiville Mining Co.'s topic in Kings Island History
I believe that this picnic grove existed until Face/Off / Invertigo was installed in 1999. From what I understand, there are still some remnants there; however, it's not much to write home about. If you look over in that area from Invertigo's lift hill, you can clearly make out that the land was unnaturally formed. When I heard about this about five years ago, I think there were bicycle games (those temporary metal gates) stored there, but I haven't given it much thought since then. What I don't know is whether this was something inside the park, or if you could only access it from outside of the front gate. From what I've been told, it was less of a "picnic grove" and more of a set of picnic tables where people could eat from the coolers they brought. I never experienced this, so I'm only speaking from what I've heard. Any firsthand knowledge would be greatly appreciated! For those of you who have no idea what we're talking about, it's the clearing just north of Inverting. -
I ate at the Winterfest buffet tonight. I must say, this might have been the best experience I've had in the IR (and I've had a lot of good ones!). The turkey was very good, along with the carved beef, but the real stars of the show were the mashed potatoes and stuffing. It's "easy" to make mashed potatoes good, but how in the heck do you make stuffing the star of the show? Well, Chef Perez seemed to find a way! It had something to do with the super-fresh breading along with a hint of jalapeño. A friend of mine passed on the stuffing at first because he "doesn't like jalapeño" (different friend with a limited palette, not Don!) but he was convinced to try it and admitted that it was some of the best stuffing he had ever had! It worked so well! I didn't take photos of the food because that's already out there, but here is a photo of the setting/view: Also, it was originally reported the desserts were and uncharge. Either that wasn't accurate or the policy changed because we got desserts as a table service at the end of our meal. There were three or four options. I opted for the dark chocolate brownie with peppermint garnishing. It was also one of the better sweet treats that I have had at the park. The cost was $40, minus a ~10% discount for season pass holders. I know it's kind of tough to fork out a cash for a meal when you have the meal plan, but if you have the means, you really should do it! If you look up the buffet on the web site, it prompts you for New Years Eve tickets; however, don't be confused because this is first come, first serve, walk up. I highly recommend checking the web site if you intend to eat the buffet as it is only on select dates. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/events/winterfest/attractions/international-restaurant-winter-buffet It was tough to forego the limited-time-only Holiday Meatloaf Burger for this, but no regrets!

https://www.cedarpoint.com/calendar-and-hours Note that they’re closed Tuesday and Wednesdays in the early season. Plus 8:00 closes into June and starting again August 18. This is less days and operating hours for Cedar Point’s season pass holders. It should be noted that Kings Island has not yet released their 2025 calendar. Now more than ever, the wise financial decision is to wait until you see what you’re getting before you fork out your hard-earned money.
