  1. On the first night I do all of the mazes. After that I go very often but really only go to ride the rides and watch the shows.
  2. The time has come for the our favorite summer getaway to be transformed into a hellish haven for ghosts, demons, werewolves, zombies, corrupt cowboys and evil clowns. That's right - Halloween Haunt, Kings Island's incredibly popular Halloween-inspired event is back with a vengeance! Highlighting the event is three all new attractions including: The Slaughter House - Set inside a butcher shop, you never know what (or who) may make it to the cutting board next! Have slaughtered animal parts, hanging carcasses and gallons of blood adorn this culinary outlet. Many enter the Slaughter House but few make it out to tell the tale. Cut Throat Cove - Climb aboard a pirate ship filled whose captain's last fear is mutiny. This ship is full of deranged pirates, swashbucklers and all other delights found on the seven seas. Anyone up for a duel? Hot Blooded - This live stage show inherits the new-found legacy of over-the-top Halloween shows found at Kings Island and does not disappoint! A classic rock sound track, incredible special effects, pyrotechnics and plenty of blood populate this after-life revue. This is the "do not miss" attraction of Haunt 2009! In addition to the new attractions, some of your favorites are back including Club Blood, Death Row, Cemetery Drive and many many more! 3. http://www.wlwt.com/news/21102054/detail.html With the news breaking today that Kings Island will be pulling its skeletons depicting dead celebrities from Haunt, I want to hear your initial reaction.
  4. This is what worries me. In a true professional environment, animals could not be stressed past a certain point. Moving animals too much in an unfamiliar place certainly qualifies in this category. Very simply put, so does throwing animals out on display. In an aza environment, for example, animals would undergo a minimal 30 day corontine before ever being placed in view of the general public. ( at least without walls or glass ) This is typically to ensure the animal is not sick, and cannot spread disease to other members of its species if it is. I am curious to see where the animals are coming from. Private owners, or a zoo. I am highly doubting that it is a zoo. And if they are private, what are their licenses or certifications. I would also like to know what animals are going to be used for the petting zoo, and especially for the mazes. I am not trying to start argument. I am just saying that I am curious to know these things. Sorry, but it's just me being..well, ME. It's not the same animals. The animals used at night in the Slaughter House are owned by a park employee who will be there at all times. The animals used during the day are from a professional mobile petting zoo. Both sets of animals are very accustomed to a lot of people being around them.
  5. WLWT's Article This is a recreation of the old thread and WILL be opened following Haunt's opening day this Friday. The reason why the old thread was flushed was because it was being influenced by WLWT and other irresponsible news outlets that portrayed Kings Island's Halloween Haunt in an over-sensationalized manner. People may or may not have opposing feelings about Halloween Haunt, and we will welcome both sides of the conversation once the event is opened and people can experience it for what it truly is. Thank you for your patience with this topic. Again, this topic, as well as many other relevant topics, pertaining to Haunt will be found right here on KICentral in the days to come. If you would like to further inquire about this matter, please e-mail me directly. I will respond to you in a timely manner.
  6. Kings Island's Twitter is reporting the following: "Tractor Town will be a popular new attraction at Howl-O-Fest."
  7. My pick? Vortex. Nothing screams "coaster" more than an image like this...
  8. New for 2009 at Halloween Haunt is One-Eyed Jack's featuring a menu of Smoked Turkey Legs, Chicken Fingers, Fish, Fried Shrimp, Fried Clams, Nachos, Cold Draft Beer & more! From Kings Island's Haunt Blog
  9. According to Kings Island's Official Twitter, a petting zoo has been added to the 2009 lineup for Howl-o-Fest.
  10. The set for Hot Blooded looks great. From all accounts I've heard, it's going to be an amazing show.
  11. This line made the entire read worth it: "For an additional fee (and really, who wouldn't want to cough up some extra cash to be buried alive)"
  12. Just for the record, nobody from Cedar Fair every denied that coming of Planet Snoopy from Kings Island.
  13. They're not removing the ride all together...
  14. None of the current ride selections will be removed in this conversion.
  15. ...its pure awesomeness? Crackberry! I have been addicted to it since I got it. Which one did you get?
  16. No offense was taken at all. You do make some excellent points. However if you look at the nature of the poll, it asked which extension of the KIC Universe was best for you. That has nothing to do with the main site. Since your greatly prefer going directly the the main site, "I don't know/I have no opinion" was an appropriate answer. In fact, people like you are the reason why that "escape" option is valid. Otherwise, you'd be forced to choose the lesser of all "evils" and would in its own way invalidate the poll. You'll notice that ALL information in centered around KIC. If you look at the augmentations of the brand, they're all simply different ways to inform you that something is going on with the site. If you visit the site daily, some options aren't as relevant to you, but some people visit the site every once in a while and may miss out on breaking news so the Facebook/Mobile Club/Twitter options are excellent ways to let them know to check the site. The "Maybe - Depends on what we're doing" option is, in my opinion, the most likely poll option to come out ahead. No one's offended by you picking that. This is simply a survey. If 90% of people say that their participation depends on what events are going on, then we'd certainly run things by the community before planning anything. If people choose that they want to get together regardless, we'll do as many meet ups as we can. It's very simple. You want it, you get it. Oh, and the newsletter. I haven't forgotten about that. The two speed bumps I've been hitting have been finding an efficient way to have people sign up, and how to integrate html into the email so it can look really nice. I may start off by just having people PM me their email addresses if they want in and doing text, but I'd rather do it right. If anyone has any insight with this, it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your input, Ryan
  17. I was thinking about offseason stuff. Could be fun to get groups together and do some different stuff, you know? I have some ideas up my sleeve.
  18. Just a little bit of opinion poll action to see where we stand. Feel free to utilize this thread to make suggestions as to how we can augment the KIC brand to better meet your needs. Thanks in advance, Ryan

  20. I agree with everyone above. That final helix is the best part, hands down. Especially at night.
  21. I don't have any children, but I think any parent that wouldn't bring their kid to Kings Island based on the fact that it's becoming Planet Snoopy is simply out of their mind. What would be a good reasoning behind that? Is Peanuts inappropriate for that age range? Is their child's ride experience going to be any less thrilling on Avatar when it becomes Snoopy's Super Slide (or whatever)? Will their children be afraid of the Peanuts characters?
  22. “Humble” Bob Shoudt repeated as champion in the second annual Skyline Chili Spaghetti Eating Championship Monday at Kings Island, out-dueling his rival Joey “Jaws” Chestnut 13.9 pounds to 12.6. 23. It has become a tradition that every year Kings Island inducts past employees into their Walk of Fame to honor them for their contribution to Kings Island or their accomplishments following their employment at Kings Island. This year, that honor was bestowed upon Gary Wachs and Rich Walburg. Rich Walburg worked at Kings Island from 1983 through 1991, working in various departments including admissions, communications, ecology and food service. Since then he has gone on to have a very successful career with WLW in Cincinnati. Gary Wach is the man most responsible for Kings Island as we know it today. He began his career with Coney Island and helped entice them to take the drastic measure of moving the park to a quiet farm town north of Cincinnati called Kings Mills. He served as the first ever general manager of Kings Island before moving on to help construct and open Kings Island's sister park, Kings Dominion, in Virginia. Click here to see photos of the Kings Island Walk of Fame induction! It is nearing the time when the leaves begin to fall from the trees and our favorite summer getaway becomes a haven for demons, zombies, undead cowboys and creatures of the night. Nearly a year in the making, "Riding History to the Limits," the brainchild project of CET Cincinnati's Nate Byrum is finally available for you to enjoy! Explore the history of Kings Island with facts, footage and photos that have rarely been seen by the public in this 90 minute feature length documentary! Synopsis: As early as 1964, the design and concept of a groundbreaking amusement park was growing in the mind of an ambitious young man by the name of Gary Wachs. Until this time modern amusement parks were leaving roller coasters and other thrill rides out of their parks. Gary Wachs knew that bringing back the thrill to amusement parks was a path that would be as profitable as it was popular in the future of entertainment. After a five year struggle, Gary finally got to see his dream materialize and eventually opened to the public in 1972, Kings Island. In this program, we sit down with Gary to learn first hand how Kings Island went from a glimmer in Gary’s eye, to the multi-million dollar park it is today. We will tell you how Gary brought back the rollercoaster to parks in the United States, and how Disney played a roll in the birth of this park. Kings Island has set a precedent in the American amusement park industry and has given millions of park goer’s memories that will last a lifetime. This program combines old film footage, photographs taken by Rick Norton and other patrons of the park, and new footage. Interviews include: Gary Wachs, Dennis Speigel, Charles Meechem, Jack Rouse, Don Helbig, Carmen Electra, Walter and Nancy Duff, Barry Williams, and Michael Lookingland. Hosted by Nate Byrum Click Here to See CET's "Riding History to the Limits!" It's now official! Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Lucy and Linus will adorn Kings Island's Golden Ticket Award winning best kids' area in 2010 as it is re-branded as Planet Snoopy. “The Best Kids Area in the World is getting a fresh new look with a timeless classic." said park spokesman Don Helbig, "Planet Snoopy will feature PEANUTS-themed rides and attractions, which includes four roller coasters, and daily meet and greet and photo opportunities with Snoopy and his pals like Charlie Brown, Lucy and Linus.” Peanuts, celebrating its 60th year of existence in 2010, was the product of Charles Schulz and has been featured in 2,200 newspapers, classic television specials and on re-mastered DVD’s, on stage, in hundreds of books and across the Internet. Further details on Planet Snoopy, including new ride names, will be released during the 2009/2010 offseason. Do you want the latest information sent directly to your cell phone?
