It is unfortunate how the actions of a few are quickly ruining the site for the many.

I think this subject matter is worthy of its own topic. Let's stick to the subject, though.

I was. Thought maybe the image below, which I posted yesterday, and could be found in the Kings Island Insider... couple with the fact that the word "match" has always been in parenthesis would be enough for anyone to figure it out... Not once was the word match in parenthesis. Not once. This is a parenthesis: ( This is the other: ) I'd not be surprised if there were a lawsuit over this before it's over. Not funny, McGee. Not at all. Kings Island, where else? Parenthesis... quotation marks... you knew what I meant. The fact of the matter is, anyone who saw the information ahead of time should have have a pretty big clue in front of them that there wasn't going to be a full blown tennis match going on.
-
I was there for several hours leading up to the event and afterwards. Didn't hear anyone actually say that they were disappointed that there wasn't a full blown tennis match going on. People seemed to be really excited to see both Kim and Elena and they were very good with the fans and were happy to sign autographs and stop to chat.

Nobody was foolish enough to think that an actual tennis match would be played inside the fountain. The whole intention of the event was so that fans could meet and greet with Kim Clijsters and Elena Dementieva, two of the top female tennis players in the world. There were a lot of people there, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Tickets to the Sony Ericsson WSA tour, as well as t-shirts and posters were given out to the fans that clapped and cheered the loudest. Nothing like seeing a pseud-tennis match on a court that was slightly larger than a ping pong table with 10,000 gallons per minute of water spewing from every direction. I'm not a tennis fan but I still have fun shooting this event. More photos can be seen here.

Kennywood - PA Tour the sixth and Final Park 6/23/09
BoddaH1994 replied to raptor's topic in Trip Reports
Kennywood, without a doubt, is the best seasonal park in the US besides Kings Island. -
Avatar (no, not the member!) question...
BoddaH1994 replied to CedarPointer's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
Yeah, I'd change the avatar. What do you have to gain from going to a Kings Island fan site and having an avatar like that? It's kind of like, if you think Kings Island is an "epic fail" then why are you here? -
Here are some further details: How do the best women’s tennis players in the world get warmed up for the Sony Ericsson WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) Tour in Cincinnati? Visit Kings Island Saturday, August 8 and watch as former world No. 1 ranked Kim Clijsters – who is making her return to the WTA Tour – takes on current No. 4 ranked Elena Dementieva inside the Royal Fountains on International Street at 4:00pm. Clijsters retired in 2007 after winning the 2005 US Open title and reaching four Grand Slam singles finals – two French Opens (’01 & ’03), the US Open (’03) and the Australian Open (’04). She also won 34 singles titles (including five Tier I events, now known as the Premier level) and 11 doubles titles on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour. Clijsters spent 19 weeks at No. 1 and won more than $14 million in prize money. She was the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour’s Newcomer of the Year in 1999, and Player of the Year in 2005. Dementieva has won two Olympic Gold medals in singles, including the Gold Medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. She has reached the finals of two Grand Slam events and was ranked as high as No. 3 in the world as recently as April, 2009. The “match” inside the fountains between Clijsters and Dementieva is included free with park admission and season pass.

Just better hope a hotel manager doesn't see you do that. Your car may not be there when you get back.
-
From Kings Island's Twitter Tennis inside the fountains anyone? Watch Kim Clijsters (former #1) play Elena Dementieva (current #4) inside the fountains Aug. 8 at 4pm.

Last time I checked parking was $10 and premier parking was $15. I think you can re-enter if you present your receipt.

Halloween Haunt Dates and Hours (more info)
BoddaH1994 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
It worked years ago when Fearfest was a separate admission... Oh, really? If it worked so well (and it did not), then why didn't it continue? The original Fearfest was a lot more cutting edge. Later they tamed it down and just joined it with the rest of the day. Now Haunt is more on the cutting edge side so they're going back to the old model. -

HAUNT now operating on select Thursdays and Sundays!
BoddaH1994 replied to kjkjkj's topic in Kings Island
Don't forget that a great way to get the latest info is by following Kings Island on Twitter at www.twitter.com/kingsislandpr That's where I heard about this. If you have a Blackberry or iPhone you can set it up to alert you when there are updates. -
It takes about 5 minutes to remove covers from trains. Don't forget that it's rained a lot recently. It's entirely reasonable that they'd protect the trains from the elements. I doubt this has anything to do with the operation of the ride.
-
There will be a crane at the front entrance that will suspend the wire 262' in the air. So he will be walking from the front gate to the Eiffel Tower, but the wire will be attached to a crane near the front gate and to the Eiffel Tower's structure.

(Cincinnati, OH) – Thomas the Tank Engine is back…as EnterTRAINment Junction returns “Everything Thomas,” one of the venue’s most popular special events ever, for a six-week run beginning Monday, August 3. Originally, EnterTRAINment Junction hosted “Everything Thomas” last February, and it was so popular with families that EnterTRAINment Junction decided to bring back the event PLUS make it bigger and better than ever. The “Everything Thomas” event runs through September 13. Thomas, the world’s most famous tank engine, will be everywhere at EnterTRAINment Junction, the only train-themed family entertainment center on the planet. In addition, to help celebrate Thomas’s return, EnterTRAINment Junction is unveiling a brand new, indoor train ride for youngsters, complementing the Kids’ Express hand-cranked locomotives located just outside of the building. The best part – both of the rides are FREE with admission to EnterTRAINment Junction during the Thomas special event. “Everything Thomas” features Thomas scavenger hunts (with prizes for the winners), Thomas wood play tables, Thomas crafts and videos, and a Thomas HO scale electric train display. On weekends there also are Thomas storytime and sing-a-longs. And, in the Funhouse Junction maze (themed like an old time amusement park funhouse), visitors will find Thomas surprises throughout the walk-through attraction. In the Main Street gift shop, visitors will find Thomas & Friends merchandise discounted 15%, the lowest prices of the year. The gift shop carries top quality Thomas items, including Learning Curve’s wooden Thomas items, Thomas’ books, DVD’s, and Bachmann’s Thomas & Friends HO starter kits. Even the Junction Café on Main Street is offering a special Thomas Combo Meal. A discounted” Everything Thomas” combination ticket is value-priced at $12.99, and includes the world’s largest indoor model train display, a huge children’s interactive play area, the American Railroad Museum, an expo center, the Funhouse Junction walk-though maze and all of the Thomas activities and indoor and outdoor train rides. Parking is always FREE at EnterTRAINment Junction. EnterTRAINment Junction is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Mon.-Sat. and noon-6 p.m. Sundays. It is located at 7379 Squire Court, just off I-75, at the Tylersville Rd. exit (#22). The top platform is 264', right? That would make the target relatively accurate....

A target marks the spot where Nik Wallenda, seventh generation member of the legendary Flying Wallendas, will reach 262' in the air when he traverses his high wire walk from the front gate to the Eiffel Tower at Kings Island on August 15th at 7:00pm. This even is free with park admission. Photo credits: Don Helbig
