  1. Unless my figures are incorrect, $1 US = appoximately $33 Baht. That is $16,500,000. Talk about a fast, and lucrative, settlement. Even if that amount is incorrect, it is too bad that insurance companies as well as the court system drag their feet when it comes down to claims in the US.
  2. If you purchased a home or signed a lease on an apartment, it's new to you. Does it really make a difference if it was lived in before you or not? I'm waiting for the negative comments about CP's additions since most were from GL.
  3. ^ That's funny. Even though I don't agree with his comment of kids under the age of 10 waiting for a ride at the end of the night. I honestly hope that to be an exagerration. My oldest daughter will be 7 in April, and I would not consider letting her go off with friends in the park even if I was at the park, let alone dropping her off. What those people in Arlington need to realize is that people are not going to be treating SF like a corner bar. They did not pay admission to get into the park for the right to sit at a bar and consume overpriced beer. Even when I go to parks, the only time that I will sit at a bar is usually at the hotel during the kids snack/ wash-up time, or after the park has closed (or when my wife was doing her duty and feeding the kids, but that was years ago). And those places are outside the park. (My favorite place would be TGI Fridays at Hotel Breakers on the beach at CP. Try an Ultimate Long Island Tea!)
  4. Letter to the editor? Speaking of overreaching...
  5. The ride does not appear on their website. http://www.waterworldcalifornia.com/ Article on incident: http://www.cnn.com/US/9706/03/water.slide/
  6. Stopping 70 teens from doing this stunt is like stopping college students from rushing the basketball court after a big win. It unfortunately takes a tragic accident to prove that some records should not attempt to be broken.
  7. So CF will fix SoB by removing a major element add purchasing new trains, but they are too cheap to fix TR? Yeah, that makes sense. And then it will be torn down by '09, if it's not fixed by then? Well if they were too cheap, it would not be fixed at all, so then it will be torn down by '09. Right? Go troll somewhere else.
  8. ^ Absolutely nothing wrong with investigative journalism. Bring up all the waterpark fatalities, not just the ones owned by a specific group and do the math. Is there a need to have national safety standards for waterparks from the stats attained, or are the parks policing themselves accordingly? This particular incident really had nothing to do with waterpark safety because it was an isolated event, and the reasons why it happened are rather clear. Now the SFKK incident is on the other end of the spectrum. So far there is a rather frayed cable and a ride op that could not hit an E-Stop in time. Fault certainly does not fall on the shoulders on the young girl, but with the park itself.
  9. What makes you believe that? Or are you just making up stuff again to hear yourself talk?
  10. How is a couple of lifeguards supposed to stop 70 determined teenagers? The video did specify that the teens were aware that they would be kicked out of the park if they did this stunt. Even if security was called, by the time they arrived and made it up the steps to the elevated platform, the deed would have already been done.
  11. This story just gets worse as the days go on. Little Susie and Billy's dad can't purchase a beer at SF, but when mommy goes to the grocery story, she can get a bottle of Jack and a case of Bud as a chaser.
  12. Sad to say, they were not thinking. On a side note: Isn't it funny that the media questioned the safety at waterparks, yet still had all the information that the waterpark could not control the situation?
  13. This reminds me of another waterslide tragedy. My prayers to those affected by this accident.
  14. I am still surprised that the city of SanFrancisco has not really made too much noise yet. While the team name will stay the same, Santa Clara is still 45 miles away from SanFrancisco. Now add the traffic in that plagues CA and the travel time will be 2+ hours. If I was a current season ticket holder, boy would I be PI$$ED about the move.
  15. ^ Do you actually read the previous posts? Or just say the first thing that comes to your mind to hear yourself talk?
  16. ^ Exactly, what is the difference? Perhaps this is the first dedicated outside surf machine. I'll give them that one. But weather you are at Typhoon Lagoon, or in England, if a wave is pushing you while you are standing on a board, it is surfing.
  17. PETA? Can you get any more one sided? Even they hate zoos. Heck they probably sponsor the site that put out the report.
  18. And that information was gained from whom? If it was as bad as this online poll makes it sound, why is the AZA not involved?
  19. ... GI JOE! A real american hero GI Jo... Yeah...
  20. 2008 additions was probably one of the worst kept secrets that CP has ever done.
  21. Ok, so some members of the media know how to crack a good joke.
  22. For those who have seen Santa Claus 2.... I now have this image of a fiberglass elephant roaming around at Animal Kingdom, just like the plastic "Santa" from SC2. Thanks Woofer... Even though you have a fiberglass axe to grind with Disney, I still believe it to be the happiest place on Earth.
  23. Well that is one way to get off the list. Tough to kill fiberglass.
  24. My money is still on a rethemeing of TR. Which will be announced at the same time the new ride names are announced. Just my guess....
