Of coarse it's going to be red. Two things that you can always count on CF for: 1) Red coasters 2) Crazy amount of garbage cans

^ Honestly, it's going to have to completely off the wall to get rid of the "Defending the Rumor" quote. Nobody has got there yet. But someone is trying very hard!

You have seen some pretty crappy treatment? Geez, I wonder why. Perhaps it has to do with your agressive style of portraying your opinion? Lets take a look at some examples:

SFOT now selling beer...
Browntggrr replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
That is just it. Any park that I have been to has controlled the sale of alcohol like the Soup Nazi. Where the few folks in Arlington get the idea that alcohol sales are going to harm public safety and get kids run over in parking lots is rather unbelievable. And nowadays, with the liability that comes with alcohol sales, any establishment, needs to keep it under control for fear of lawsuits. On a side note; both BGA and BGE have had the most lax rules on alcohol that I have seen as they allow you to bring your frosty beverage into the queue lines. -

At this point, it does not look like Villain will be sold. Even if a park would decide to purchase it right now, the work necessary for: the deconstruction, prepping the land, electric, the rest of the minor essentials, reconstruction and ordering and recieving new trains, it would be ready for the 2009 season. That also means after over one year of sitting the value of the ride would drop as well. Not that it is not possible, but, it would be a small miracle for anyone to ever ride Villain again. And some really would not care, it was not one of those rides that you would be willing to drive an hour just to ride it. -

I suppose one of these times you will just stop replying (or is it considered backpedaling?). It's good that you are counting though! -

^ Boy these people in Texas are really dilusional. Where do they get some of these ideas that alcohol in the park is going to do everything they claimed in those letters? For those that work at KI: How many incidents have you seen in the park that are alcohol related? -

If you want to compare like coasters, compare Racers with Rebel Yell at KD. At least between those two coasters the "slight" difference you refer to is not over a half ton, 21 mph, and 1/6 of a mile. BTW- Rebel Yell has trims as well. -

^ You are the one that brought up how BS and Racer can be compared. I was just wondering how two coasters that are 8 years different in age, 857' difference in length, 21mph different, as well as 1200 lbs. different for the weight of the car can be compared. Even in approximate comparisons. But it is good to see that trim brakes are necessary and are stupid to argue. And answer your question on how trim brakes were brought into the discussion: And I still think it's crap that they removed a hill at all! I first noticed it in a you-tube video and frieked. I had some sort of ridiculous reaction about, "what is this" "Racer isn't original" "reprofileing my favorite ride" and all kinds of other things. At any rate--yes I know the claim about doing that for extra brakes--bs. There is only one there, and the brake run for Racer is huge. As far as the pictures--Racer looks absolutely beautiful in those photos and I wish it was still painted to look like this. You are right, it does look more cared for. Personally I think it is a very under-rated coaster for having the best airtime in the park. Incedently, in case you can't tell or haven't picked up on it, Racer forward is my favorite ride at Kings Island and so I'm a little sensitive about it. I look forward to many more wonderful seasons. However, I can't say that it is the first place I go at KI, because The Beast has to be first, as tradition goes. And...if you're wondering how Racer ranks above The Beast for me, airtime is what gets it. But my belly ache is the same on both--get rid of the friekin' trim brakes. Three of four on The Beast are unneccessary, and the one on Racer is UNCALLED FOR and senseless. Oh, the opinions! -
The Bat's demise was due to many contributing factors, a lift hill motor not being one of them. (Just as an FYI, you do know that there were two motors. One for each lift hill.) Which is too bad really, installing a larger motor is an easy fix. Yet re-designing banked track, re-designing brakes for the bottom of the trains, and finding shocks that could withstand the amount of stress that the ride exerted on the trains were too much for what Arrow had originally intended.

Blue Streak at CP is 2558' and has a max speed of 40 mph and was bulit in 1964. Racer is 3415' and has a max speed of 61 mph and was built in 1972. Racer also has 6 more people/ train. How can these two coasters be compared to each other? And how does airtime define if trims are to be used or not? -
^ KI owns even more that what is in that picture. You would be really surprised on how much lad the park owns. But the problem is; how much of that land can be used for park expansion & rides before the cost outweighs the needs? Adding a ride to land that has difficult terrain is not that big of a problem, but expanding the park to areas with difficult terrain is expensive as well as limiting to some guests.

Wood coasters that exert an excessive amount of force need to have trims so that the coasters do not destroy themselves as well as cost the park excessive maintenance costs. Enthusiasts hate trims, as do you. But enthusiasts also comprise about 1% of a park's attendence. So parks take the lesser of two evils. Trim the coasters that need it, at the expense of those 1% being upset. -

Boy, this writer is certainly putting all the eggs in one basket. How can you even believe that ONE park with new beer sales is going to turn around the entire company?
