Can you give some insight as to why you feel this way?

Even if it is tax dollars that pay for the sign, as well as the removal/ installation of the signs the amount spent on the signs is not that much considering how much tourism dollars fuels the local economy. I would be intrested to see how the Ohio tourism bureau is funded for such things as 1-800-BUCKEYE as well as numerous TV advertisments shown out of state. If the entities that are being advertised for fund it, then the signs are not tax dollars. And if it is tax dollars funding it, so be it. Where would Mason be w/o KI? Chances are, it is tax dollars that pay for such things. I can't see the Zoo, airport, or sports arenas paying for it. And they all have the same type of signs.

I don't see why this is a big deal. The same signs were replaced when it became Paramount's Kings Island prior to the start of the 1993 season. The same type of signs were also changed numerous times with the Geauga Lake/ Six Flags Ohio/ Six Flags Worlds of Adventure/ Geauga Lake in Auora. And I'm pretty sure that it is not Mason that is responsible for the signs and maintenance of the highway, but the responsibility lies with ODOT.

Man Dies On Expedition Everest
Browntggrr replied to Beast08's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Coasters are not dangerous. His condition is dangerous. He could suffer a ruptured aorta getting into a car accident, or walking up stairs, or even sneezing. Not that your uncle suffers from this condition, but refer to a very publicized death concerning the aorta: http://www.webmd.com/heart-disease/news/20...n-ritters-death -
I was thinking that he could have been on the Jet Express going from Sandusky to Put-in-Bay. Or it could be one heckava good camera with a fantastic zoom on it.

Buy a carowinds pass and get free admission to Scarowinds all year long!
Browntggrr replied to kjkjkj's topic in Rumors
When Paramount brought Winterfest back it was nothing more than window dressing for potential buyers of the parks. If it would have worked out, just another perk to make the park more appealing. But Paramount really did it half-heartedly as far as planning went, and overpriced it. It really is too bad. I think Winterfest could do really well. -

So $20 is not the official pricing. That's good to know. -
If this is the hotel you a referring to, it is still open: http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/clee...auga-lake-hotel

So what would West Mifflin do if Kennywood no longer existed? I have a difficult time believing that Kennywood does not already pay out an exorbitant amount of taxes for property, school, and payroll, as well as utility costs; and West Mifflin wants to take even more? What a joke. Now add that with Kennywood being the only entity to pay this tax, and it is insulting to the park. For all of those people that wondered why is is difficult for a family owned park to survive need only to look at this situation.

^ You need to look at the big picture. It doesn't make a difference if you have 100 guests paying $5 or 50 guests paying $10 but then just think what happens if you change it to 100 at $7.50. If the guest is upset enough about a bad time due to the park being overcrowded, they will never come back no matter what the cost is. Years ago Paramount had an upcharge for FF, and then did away with it. Everyone was happy. Then when FF came without the upcharge the park was crushed and guests were upset they could not enjoy all the FF activities. Even look at some of the past topics here and you can see the negative reaction from those who did not want to deal with the massive crowds. Many even said that they would be willing to pay for an upcharge. Now CF is going to have some kind of upcharge for that very reason. -

CF is not milking guests anymore than any other entertainment venue in America. Check out the prices for NFL, NBA, MLB, Broadway shows, Ringling Bros. Circus, or Disney on Ice. Not only will the ticket prices floor you, the food and snacks will send you bank account into the red. (i.e. Disney on Ice: Stitch souvenier snow cone container= $10, souvenier Lilo spoon to use= $2; Parking at football game= $20, ticket= $175, 20oz. draft= 6.75, regular hot dog= $3.50, special burger= $12) Now when it comes down to HH, what is the lesser of two evils, having no upcharge and packing the guests in so that they cannot enjoy the event to it's fullest potential, which pi$$es them off to an extreme to the point that may not come back. -or- Upcharge the event so that the crowd is more managable and everyone can enjoy all the events in a single evening. -
^ Were those from the Cincy zoo?

Perhaps it's just an assumption on my part, but if CF has made the decision to make HH an upcharge event then it must be doing well. If it wasn't doing good, there would be no reason to potentially lose even more customers. -

Could it be due to not meeting projected attendance figures? Obviously KI is meeting expectations, but Carowinds may not be. -
^ And for that matter the park will not even be open during the week that time of year.

Well, what other choices do they have? The name has to eventually change, as does some of the pre-ride activities. If I were in charge of a company and a decision was made to spend a good amount of money to drastically change something, I'd be sure to scream it from all the hill tops if it meant more paying people through the gates. Kings Island did the same thing back in 1982 on Racer. Same ride, just a new direction. You really can't expect KI to re-theme the ride and then not tell anyone.

I was thinking more like 1-800-Bed-Pann.

http://videos.myrtlebeachonline.com/vmix_h...s/video/1603162 How embarrassing that he could not break the guitar on the first hit. Perhaps it is just me, but does the train look like it's going 65mph? It looks REALLY slow.

Now that I have been thinking about it; why didn't KI announce their name changes as well? I would have expected the same names for KI's rides as well, so why not announce at the same time? Could it be because TR is being re-themed and promoted as a new ride for 2008? There still has been no '08 announcement yet. Just a thought...
