  1. Actually, Corkscrew at CP had the same thing up until the early 90's.
  2. Huh? What kind of GPS are you using? The reason I ask, if WWC is closer to Congo than WT; than perhaps my 5.5 hrs. trip to KI will be cut down to 3.5 hrs.
  3. Capacity was an issue on how many days? Those few days do not justify the money needed to modify the blocks for the additional train as well as the money needed to retrofit the train. Will CF do it? Perhaps. But I would rather see the money put to better use in the park.
  4. The last thing SoB needs is a 3rd train. Even when SoB first opened and the majority of the known World did not know SoB was like going through traction, it only ran 2 trains. Why would it need a 3rd now if it didn't need it then?
  5. I wonder if the park would allow me to bring my putter in the park? Anyone remember Elmer Fudd singing: "Kill the wabbit, kill the wabbit"? My song is: "Kill the goose, Kill the goose." If I can't run them over, I'll use my putter and treat them like a polo ball.
  6. The story does not make sense. Only because, Disney offers a Segway tour for Epcot for $85 on a first come/ first served basis which is quite popular. Why would they offer that, but then not allow someone who may need it? http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks...ldEpcotTourPage I'm willing to bet there is more to the story that was not mentioned.
  7. That really is a funny story. How something so innocent, turned into something big in our world.

    KEEPERS?

Perhaps when the initial plans for Beast were being drawn up back in 1977, the engineers believed that there was no choice but to remove the canoe ride. But with today's technology, I have a difficult time believing that both rides could not co-exist in some fashion and still provide the quality ride(s) that we know.

    KEEPERS?

Why does this poll not offer a "Nothing Removed" option? Again, why do some believe that addition through subtraction is necessary? *sigh*
  10. Sure anything can happen. Just like SoB's loop coming back. Sure it could happen. But you probably have a better chance of winning MegaMillions before the loop comes back. But what are the chances? A coaster over 8133' going back into the woods would probably be in excess of $30,000,000. Yeah, I don't see it happening.
  11. ^ Yeah. Purchase... Pick-up... You got the idea.
  12. Well we can agree to disagree. I suppose the only comparision that I can think of is Black Friday. Department stores will have give aways for the first "X" amount of customers through the door. Now if that store has a line out the door due to poor planning than shame one them. Why? Well because Black Friday only happens once per year, and everyone knows that every store is complete chaos on that day. Now in CF's defense, how were they to know that everyone would want a jacket in 2007 and not wait till '08? The park has already come out and communicated that jackets can be purchased till November 16th past the planned cut-off day of Nov. 11th. They also could have been playing a wait and see game as to what sizes are more popular so that they don't have an extra 1000 smalls available for 1000 people that need an extra large. Faulting CF for this is just like faulting Disney when they have to close the gates due to being at capacity, yet people that have tickets for that specific day can't get in. Stuff like this is hard to plan for.
  13. Over 8133'? That would be an extremely large capital expenditure. I would have to guess it would end up being the 2nd most expensive coaster ever built. I really don't see it happening.
  14. While I have been critical of Paramount, I don't hate them. I have just compared Paramount to the previous operators, and Paramount did not live up to what I was used to. The atmosphere that I was used to in the 80's was lost during the Paramount years. And there was not just one reason, but multiple reasons that get added together as to the way I feel. It was about 1993 that I honestly believed that KI was leaps and bounds more enjoyable than CP. Now when it comes down to PKD, boy that park was VERY poorly operated each time I was there. I was actually shocked that PKI and PKD were owned by the same company. PKD was the one and only park that my wife and I did not enjoy, and actually left early to go to BGE. Neon- I am not trying to bash you in anyway, but you have only been at the park when it was under Paramount. When I was 13, Kings Island was very different than it is even today, and when Paramount purchased the park, I just graduated from high school. Point being, when I was your age KI was in it's heyday, and it is something that I will never forget.
  15. Another thought is that they want to put a focus on the animal aspect for each park. Perhaps Busch believes that the general public is not aware of the animal side of each park. Especially considering the additions the last few years at BGA. Even Kinzel admitted that he did not believe the animal side of WoA would have made that much of a difference. Maybe Busch sees an untapped resource?
  16. ^ Exactly. How could anyone plan for this kind of turnout?
  17. So why not wait to get your jacket in the spring? Or wait to get your jacket when you process your pass? And if you are really upset about the time and gas money to make a special trip to the park, then don't go. Sure it is a first come/ first served, but do you actually think they are going to run out of jackets before next spring? People may want to complain about how the process is handled, but now sit back and think about it; why would anyone have thought that there would be a steady stream of cars in and out on a Friday in the offseason? Exactly how is the park supposed to prepare for people who may or may not come to pick up the jackets? This sounds just like communist Russia giving away toilet paper. I think it is easy to say that the free jacket giveaway is a success.
  18. Well Erie is not close to Cincy, but we had a snowstorm on Tuesday that dumped up to 7" in some areas. I had about 4" at my house, and my power was out for over 12 hours due to trees still having leaves on them and the additonal weight of the snow took down a great amount of limbs and trees. The snow is finally melted.
  19. I am not trying to discount that site, but, if there was a FE car in the parking lot long enough for someone to take a picture of it, I would think someone here would have seen it as well. Especially since there are a good amount of cars in the parking lot, and, the picture was supposedly taken on a Friday during HH. This is one of those: "Well that is a nice story. I'll believe it when I see it."
  20. Destroy the lighting effects? Are ya kidding me? Could you be more dramatic? The tower has been around for over 30 years, who wants to look at the same thing for 30 years (yeah, ok, plug in the marriage jokes here )? I enjoy change like this. It breaks the monotony. Much like how some coasters will have their color schemes changed over the years. It keeps things looking fresher.
  21. If you read between the lines, both CF & SF conference calls seem rather similar.
  22. So I suppose that it is now easy to say that it is just not one company that is having issues, it is the industry as a whole. And even though fingers were pointed at weather and an unfortunate incident, I am a firm believer that the extremely high gas prices have much to do with it.
  23. Wow. CF made an NFL team back track and put egg on their face at the same time? Yeah, only offering one option is never a good idea in business.
  24. ^^ Depends on what you consider economical. If you stay at one of the park's accomodations, there are numerous packages during the year that have park tickets included, coupons, and discounts on in park meals. If you already have a season pass, then chances are a resort package is not for you. My suggestion if you are not going to stay on the park property; stay at a hotel East of the park. Many of the hotels West & South of the park will have inflated prices not only due to CP, but also for Put-in-Bay and various other attractions for Western Lake Erie.
