  1. They could sell the rights, but as far as equipment, some of it has been used for Fright Nights. And we all know about the cars.
  2. Donuts? They should have given you eggs! :chef:
  3. When I went to IoA, I thought it was a really good park overall. The coasters were good, but Spiderman is easily the best ride in the park. PKI will never be able to touch IoA as far as theming goes. IoA spent some big $$, but it is a year round park. Given the fact that PKI is seasonal, spending that kind of money for theming or $100 million for a ride like Spiderman is unlikely. I would like to see PKI fix and upgrade the theming they have now, as well as make the park cleaner before adding more "hollywood themes" to the park.
  4. Flight Commander I (waaa) never rode The Bat. 3 summers and each time it was down. :censored:
  5. Huh? How is wishing that there are more seatbelts on certain rides so you feel safer, like adding more brakes on The Beast. I don't get the comparison.
  6. You love it? On God's green earth, WHY?
  7. So many? The have been a total of 10 Arrow suspended coasters, only 9 are operating (The Bat- which we should all know about), and of those, 3 are not located in the US. The Big Bad Wolf is by far the best suspended, but ID is terrible compared to TG. Both coasters have their place in each park, an exciting ride, but not a thrill ride. TG serves many of the younger patrons of PKI. Taking this ride away would be taking from the family atmosphere that PKI is directing itself to as well as taking away from the Hollywood theme since this ride is very heavily themed. And as far as PKI settling for a ride that is lame, the ride was already planned and being built before PKI took ownership. If PKI wanted to change some od the aspects of the ride, they did have an opportunity to put more $$ into it, but obviously they wanted to spend more for the theming at that time.
  8. It is very sad that 3 people lost their lives in one day at PKI. And adding salt to the wound is the fact that PKI has to claim partial responsibilty for what happened. The 3 that fell in the lake started as a joke and ended up being a fluke incident that I cannot imagine anybody could predict. As for the lady that "had too much fun", I suppose that this incident could have been prevented, if the operator(s) somehow could have known how intoxicated she was. A very sad day indeed, and Flight Commander was eventually taken out as a result some years later.
  9. The pics were taken in line when it happened. In the "phony" pics (as you put it), there are people in the train. Just in the right place at the right time.
  10. Part of the TOS should be that you are not allowed to be on controlled or illegal substances and post on PKIC. :stupid:
  11. I would think that obtaining parts would be the biggest problem. There are not that many Togo stand-ups and there are no rides being made today that are even close to the design. Paramount might as well keep most of the ride (since it seems that there will be no buyers), and try to use spare parts for Shockwave @ PKD.
  12. Trip report This is an excellent example of a post that should be closed. No, not the link post, but the one that I started.
  13. After swearing at myself for about 4 hours because I did not check PKI's calender, and finding out that they were going to be closed on Sunday, I tried to make the most of Sat. night. We arrived at PKI @ 7:00pm. When we arrived at the parking lot, I was very nervous at the line going into the lot. There were a lot of people there! Then we found out that there was a concert @ 8:00pm and was relieved. I went with 5 people (wife, mom, dad, and 2 little cousins- their first PKI experience). I first went to customer service and explained the situation that we bought 4 tix for 6/6, not realizing that PKI was closed to the general public, and that we are from Erie, PA. Well that was the best CS experience that I have ever had at PKI. They let us use our tix (we paid $20 for all-day passes), and we paid for the 2 kids. PKI gave us 6 passes for sometime later this year. It was my mistake, and they gave me 6 free passes, which has encouraged us to make sure that we go back sometime this year. The 2 kids are only 52" and 51" so there were some rides that they could not go on, and they were a little nervous about the coasters, so I started them slow and went to AE. They thought that was boring so we went to Racer, which they considered better, but not fast enough. We skipped FoF (hour wait), and went to Vortex. One of the boys does not like "flippy rides" as he put it and did not ride, but his brother did- and loved it. We took a small break and went to DoT and they loved that, then went to The Beast- at night- great ride, but the trims do take away from what the ride once was like. The boys loved it, and I heard the best comment, one that should be in a commercial, "No wonder it was such a long wait" (only 30 min). The boys mother watched them as we went to TR;TR and the very last ride on Delirium. Not too bad for about 3 hours of being in the park. There were a couple things that I did not like: the walk on thing- great idea for season pass holders, but on Sat and Sun.? Those are the busiest days for the park because many people can't get off work during the week, so they are forced to go on the weekend, and the park makes them wait even longer. I would think that since the park is going to be busy anyway, don't put promos on the weekend, use them during the week, to draw more people, when you know it will be slower. It did not seem like there were enough employees working. The south lot entrance was the only one open. There were only 3 metal detectors operating. (with a concert at 8pm, I would think that both of these issues would be different) On TR;TR there were only 2 people checking the restraints. At least a 3rd would improve the timing of the ride. Vortex, Racer and AE, had no employee at the entrance to the queue line checking for heights, line jumpers, smokers etc. Overall it was a great time for 3-4 hours, and i can't wait to get back later this year.
  14. I will be making a trip to PKI Sat. night with my wife and I, and all day 6/6 with my kids, and was wondering if anyone was planning on going or is working those days. I would like finally meet some from this board! Thanks!
  15. A Zagat survey, with Parenting Magazine, put PKI at #4 for child appeal behind the like of: Magic House in St. Louis (??), Disneyland, and Magic Kingdom. Ironically, Cedar Point was rated the best amusement park, and the #6 Top Rated Attractions Overall. Zagat Survey It is great that PKI is in some elite company, but they may be gaining a reputation by some on the west coast as just a kids' park, and not a park for the whole family. I hope this is not the case, there are some very good thrill attractions that PKI has that are not getting any noteriety.
  16. After 25 years, The Beast is still near the tops on a majority of the "Best of" lists. SoB does not even come close to the reputation that The Beast has.

    KI VS PKI

This is a difficult topic, only because there are many that never had the pleasure of KI before Paramount took over. IMO KI beats out the current PKI. And mainly for the little things. International Restaurant, International Street, quality of rides (Beast, Racer, Bat-Vortex, KCKK, HB, Enchanted Voyage- Phantom Theatre, Flight Commander, KC, WaterWorks etc.), the landscaping was very well kept, and it was CLEAN! I'm not saying that PKI is dirty, but KI was the "white glove test" type of clean. My first visit to KI was in '79, and up until the mid 90's KI was the park of choice for my family. But something changed when Paramount bought it, the "family" atmosphere was not where it used to be at.
  18. *smacks head in disbelief* I guess that I am showing my age- it is too bad that some did not have the opportunity to visit PKI before Paramount took over. It was a much better park when it was KI. Taking out Coney Mall to replace it with a "Hollywood theme" would be a bad mistake. IMO Paramount has not paid attention enough to Coney, and too much on theming other parts of the park.
  19. Then who would do it? With all the land that PKI has that is yet undeveloped, and the fact that they want to go with a Hollywood theme, there are easier options than removing any ride, with a good theme. PKI will eventually have to develop land around the park, and the erosion idea is a great thought. Chances are, the creek was modified when TG was put in, and again when SoB was put in. If there is another large coaster planned for PKI, they would have to submit proper paperwork concerning the creek to the EPA, that the modifications did not have long term effects to the creek, if they are putting the coaster (or another ride) in that general area.
  20. It's not the rails that causes the roughness, but rather the wheel assembly.
  21. Thanks Chef! I'm not sure how I messed that one up.
