  1. That's ok. I don't have to post here anymore. Thanks all!
  2. Disney has exclusive rights with LucasFilms LTD for Star Wars and Indiana Jones. And we all know that LucasFilms deals with 20th Century Fox, one of Paramounts largest competitors. You have a better chance winning Powerball than seeing anything Star Wars in any Paramount Park.
  3. Ishtar, Gigli, Hurler (sorry, that one is already used), Crossroads, Saturday the 14th, Glitter...
  4. No. I am actually surprised that Kennywood would do that. As a customer, I paid for the hours that a particular park has scheduled. With the excecption of "Acts of God" (major power outage, severe weather, etc.) a park should remain open. I am not insulting Kennywood in any way, but if they would close because of lack of attendance, that is their fault for not marketing the slow days properly, they should not punish the guests that did come. I have known that Cedar Point has actually stayed open longer (midnight) because of too many guests on a particular day, or a ride has been down for a good portion of the day (TTD and MF), and I'm sure that PKI has either done the same or at least considered this.
  5. Are the FoF's numbers accurate with one less train when PKI went w/o the OSTR's? Vortex currently does 1600pph.
  6. I agree that ID is not that exciting, yet it serves the same purpose as TG. It is a slower coaster, that is not thrilling compared to rides like Vortex, MF etc. But to a 5 year old, it is the best thing going. Parks need coasters that are not that fast and high. No matter how much $$ a park wants to spend, there is no "perfect" coaster.
  7. I would like too see PKI more family orientated. Yes they have the "family rides", but there are more things that families need other than rides. Hotels, sit down restaurants, cleanliness, and prices. Prices are a big thing for families. Now I understand that everyone wants to jump and say that BB is free and SC at Cedar Point is not. Consider this: if you have kids, it would be virtually impossible to hit all the rides, including BB, at PKI in a single day, so you would have to go for 2 days, and I was not able to find a two day ticket cost at PKI.com, or in the park info page here at pki-central. So I would have to take an educated guess and assume that If I wanted to go for 2 days it would cost me $42.99 each day, even if I bought them online it would cost me $6 whereas CP would cost me $66.95 for 2 days, with SC included. Also, if PKI wants to have a "Hollywood Themed" park. It would be nice to see the theming operating correctly every year.
  8. Lived? Intresting choice of words for a coaster. SD was sold to Camden Park and operated until 2000. It is currently SBNO.
  9. There are 16 coasters that have more inversions, and another 10 that are tied with 6 inversions. Now if you are referring to the fact that Vortex was the first to have six, you are correct, but how that is holding a title is confusing. The inversion list: RCDB inversion list
  10. I agree, PKI is not really ever CROWED. But when it comes to crowded, watch the weather forecasts. If you live near the park, go on a day where it may rain. Yet I have seen days, mostly Saturdays, Sunday afternoons and Mondays where I would not even get off the exit at 71. There are so many cars there that the Cinci zoo makes a better option.
  11. You should have just "accidently" stuck your foot under where it was bouncing, and have it roll away. Those balls can get annoying, especially when someone bounces them, and on occasion, painful.
  12. After the first ride of the day on The Beast, the only thing I could smell was the cicada stuffed up my nose.
  13. This is at least the 6th topic asking/ referring to Vortex being torn down. Check out the "search" feature and all your questions will be answered.

  15. The tapes to ZosoBeast and Dane went out this afternoon via USPS.
  16. Cineluxe made the tape.
  17. OK all, hear is the deal- I was able to make 4 copies. Either the jurassic JVC umatic VCR player "play" feature died or the tape is shot. My guess that it is the player. Anyhow, I am keeping one of the copies, and I am sending ZosoBeast a copy so he can make DVD's out of them. I am really quite surprised on how good the quality is. After watching the copy a few times, the hill going down to the 540 helix does not look banked like it is today, or I can't tell because of the copy. Dane- I will send you a copy. That will leave me with one copy to send to someone that may not have a DVD player. Bill- I'll pay for the shipping and materials for the copy if you will do the same with a return DVD for me. I think that is fair. browntggrr@aol.com
  18. Sounds great Bill. Maybe we should hook up to talk? It sure would save me some time if I only had to tape 1 VCR tape instead of 10, lol! Unless someone does not have a DVD player.
  19. Cineluxe got back to me and unfortunatly they did not make a tape for The Bat. I was also not able to see if I could record anything do to a power outage. What luck! :censored:
  20. Ya, I think the DVD would be a great idea. I could send you the original umatic tape, and you could do your thing. Or would you want the VHS copy? I e-mailed the company that I won the auction from. They have yet to get back to me, but just the possibility of seeing The Bat in action is worth the trouble. I am planning to make copies tonight while I am at work. After this week I will not be able to make copies from the original umatic (my plant is on shutdown). I am not looking to make $$ but the cost of shipping and the tape is necessary. I assume the cost would be around $10 for everything. Since I cannot make a copy for everyone, I suggest that friends share the copy I send. I will post when the copies are done to let everyone know how many I taped.
  21. It is about 8-10 minutes.
  22. After some digging around at work, I found an old umatic VCR and watched the video taken on The Beast while construction was going on. This is the same tape that was on Ebay. The video is great and surprisingly really good quality. It shows some of the queue line being built, water under the turn-around to the first hill, the old style train (4 cars w/ 4 seats = 32 ppl/ride), different color train (red in front to yellow in back- something that I never believed). Uncompleted 2nd tunnel- the beginning and end were cemented in but the middle part of the tunnel was open. And of course the 540 degree helix, which at that time was also not tunneled in. It also shows some video clips of the train running from the ground. It was really neat to see. There were workers all over the place leaning against the walkway beams (OSHA would have a hissy-fit over that), and the trees were REALLY tiny w/o leaves. I should be able to make some copies if anyone is interested. I just hope the copied quality is as good as the original. After I make a copy and view it, I can let everyone know. I can almost guarantee this, this video is VERY unique. I want to write the company to see if they have a umatic tape of The Bat!
  23. Correct, it is called syndication.
  24. Nick replays the TV show in syndicate, that does not give Paramount the rights to the likeness OF the TV show.
  25. 5.5 hours- Erie , PA!
