I would stay at the Dew Drop Inn (if there was one) in a heart beat if it had cheap rates and was clean and use the savings to spend in the park. I do not need the indoor water park, indoor pool, fancy restaurants/bars. The motel stay is not my focal point of the vacation but the park is.

What does Holiday World do when...
KI-ORIG-EMP replied to McSalsa's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
If the main water main was to break and it was an extensive repair effort, the park (other business also) might be forced to close due to health and safety reasons. With no water pressure, there will be no water to prepare foods, flush toilets, fire sprinklers, fire hydrants to fight fires and other things. The park might not have a say in the matter and the fire department would require them. This would apply to all business and even schools, which had to close on various times due to the lack of water. Just like the power failure, it is all an act of nature and the park has no control over it. -
The huge operational costs would keep the Park from bringing back the trams. There will be huge fuel costs, maintenance, labor, insurance, liability for accidents, and trams will have to be wheelchair equipped for the disabled. If you thought SOB had huge legal costs, wait until the first accident involving a tram and wait for the lawsuits to follow. As for going from the dry park to Soak City, just take the train between each sections. I do not look for trams being brought back.

Hank's used to be the Bier Gardens when the park was first built. They had a German themed brass band that entertained the guests and all workers wore German themed uniforms.

If after charging $21 for lockers and lots of lockers go empty, then the price is too high. If after charging $21 for lockers and the demand lockers has greatly increased, then the price is too low. But if after charging $21 for the lockers and the lockers are sold out and the demand decreases, then it is priced just right. Higher demand, fewer lockers available, then price is higher. If the lockers go unused, then the price is too high. But if demand equals the supply of lockers at the given price, then it is priced accurately. It is taught in college in Econ 101. If you were to lower the price of lockers so low that you love the great deal, then good luck in finding locker to secure your valuables. Your trunk in your car is your best bet. I travel light going to the park. I leave my expensive camera home.

I stay at a motel that has cheap rates, is clean. The motel is not my focal point of my trip as I would use it only as a place to relax and sleep after a day of fun. Kings Island or parks like it are the reason for the vacation and not the motel. I would rather stay at a Motel 6 or a motel like it instead of the HIlton's or Marriot's.

if they were to build this 300 foot giga, mega roller coaster with all the extreme G forces, how long will it take for some rider to complain about being injured by this extreme coaster? How long afterwards will it take before others would also claim of being injured? Will we then have another thread that demands that CF burn or tear this extreme giga, mega coaster down and replace it with another coaster? You know it will be bound to happen. Dang Matha, I have a migraine. Did you ride that new giga, mega coaster dear? Yep. Lets sue.

Ed Alonzo’s Psycho Circus- Magic and Mayhem
KI-ORIG-EMP replied to TylerRider's topic in Kings Island
The beauty of the trick is having you look in one direction while the other hand completes the illusion. That is why they have pretty dancers in the show to distract you. But I am tire of SC constant criticism of Ed's magic show. The vast majority of the guests that watch his show come out totally entertained and are impressed with his showmanship. I have personally met Ed and he is a great guy that works hard in the production of his show. -
I personally feel that a bikini top is too revealing and should wear a tee shirt or shirt to cover it up. It is ok at the water park, but not for general wear in the dry side of the park. Can imagine riding a ride with extreme G forces and it causes a Janet Jackson type wardrobe malfunction?

Ed Alonzo’s Psycho Circus- Magic and Mayhem
KI-ORIG-EMP replied to TylerRider's topic in Kings Island
I wonder what Blackstone, David Copperfield or Chris Angel would react if SC was revealing their illusions? If he claims he is in the entertainment field, then he should know better than to reveal a magicians trick. But if by chance he is some wannabe magician himself, then he is blacklisted for violating the magician's code. Time for his posts to be moderated and edited or deleted for revealing things not in the best interests of the park. -
When I am on vacation, the motel is only a place for me to sleep and nothing else. I stay at a clean, cheap rates, motel chain. It is only a place to return to relax after having fun and enjoying the events of the day. So in that light, I will stay at a Motel 6 vs the Hilton or even the GWL.

If these same people that claim they have inside information about a major roller coaster construction would to invest in Cedar Fair stock, some one would be guilty of insider trading. I am sure that the stock price would go up in value on news of a major ride being built. Also, people in high levels of management that are privy to confidential information such as this, will keep their mouth shut as they value their job. Very few people will know the details and if it was to be leaked, there is bound to be an investigation to determine who leaked the information. All communication on Cedar Fair computers are saved and an audit would be performed, and there is software in place to check for certain keywords.

Beating Carnival Games
KI-ORIG-EMP replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The best way to keep your hard earned money on these games is not to play them in the first place. The prize you have won ended up costing you more than the prize is worth. Either buy a stuffed animal direct or use your money to buy food. At least with the food, you will either enjoy it or get heart burn, but you got something for your money. -
The merry go round will have actual horses and a live (vs dead) organ grinder. LOL

I have been informed by a well respected source that The Racer will be torn down and a new, state of the art merry go round and horse shoe pit will go in its place. I have no reason to why so why should I reveal my source? Maybe when users choose to ignore the TOS that said they must reveal any source of that they claim as fact, then they should be warned and any penalty be enforced. Regardless of who the official might be, they are not going to reveal confidential plans to a stranger that emails them asking, "hey, why are you taking so long in coming to a decision of SOB and what do you plan on doing with it?" Just like in the military, future plans are classified and any and all information is restricted until it is decided to release the future plans to the public in the form of a press release.
-
When you post the emails to back up your claims, please include the headers. It is easy to cut and paste portions of emails and claim it is an email regarding the claim at hand. Cedar Fair will make a decision regarding SOB and when they do, then will let the WORLD know in the form of a press release. Until then, any leak that might be reported is just a rumor and nothing less. Any upper management type will not release any news until it is time and they know if they did leak something, their employment status will up in the air.
-
Whatever the future plans might be with SOB, if they decide to replace it with a new roller coaster, nothing short of another record breaking wooden coaster will do.
-
If an official photographer was there with the permission of Kings Island, they will have an escort to guide them.

Ed Alonzo’s Psycho Circus- Magic and Mayhem
KI-ORIG-EMP replied to TylerRider's topic in Kings Island
The people that complain about getting wet are the same ones sitting in the front row of a dolphin show at Sea World. -
Maybe if he posts his social security number and birth date they might be able to assist him. Maybe his credit card number if he used it to purchase items at the park.

Just quacking away!

Prior to it being Boomerang Bay it was known as Water Works. FOF was Outer Limits: Flight of Fear. Kings Island became Paramount Kings Island under Paramount and reverted back to just plain Kings Island when Cedar Fair took over.

Every structure is designed to sway due to forces that are acted upon it. Go to the top of any skyscraper and you will notice it sways in the wind. It is the same with bridges and other tall objects. Even the Eiffel Tower in Pairs and at Kings Island sway in the wind. If it was rigid it would collapse upon itself.
-
Lets say Cedar Fair decides to tear down the old front gate complex, how long will it take to tear it down and build the new front gate complex? Don't forget this is a major construction project that all the guest will pass through. It will have to house new guest service's center, rest rooms, shops, commissary, admission offices and other services now housed. What will the total cost be to tear it down and construct the new gate complex. Don't forget the drawings for all utilities, engineering drawings, permits and such. Another thing, what asbestos removal? Will it just be cost effective to just remodel the whole complex vs. new construction? It will not be able to be started until the park closes and it opens in April.

As far as ice goes, I prefer my scotch to be neat. No Scott would ever, ever drink scotch with ice. My other half might be German, but my other side is Scott. I prefer my Coke fountain drink to have a little ice cubes but not much as I am paying for Coke and not ice.
