  1. When it comes to mega coasters, my prediction is this: If Kings Island was to get a new giga mega coaster in 2013, then my prediction is in 2015 or 2016, a new thread will be when are we going to get a new mega giga coaster?
  2. Here's the link if you don't believe me: https://www.facebook...93938367&type=1 Where do people get their information from anyways? The Dippin' Dots guy? I like the one where the FB user said they heard someone broke their neck on The Bat! Dang, I knew I hurt my neck someplace and now I know! The Bat caused my spine in my neck to go wacky that resulted in me have two cervical spinal fusion surgeries! Also the orbit of the sun was too close to the Earth which resulted in mine head being scorched from those nasty infra ray sun rays!
  3. Sounds like the employee parking area.
  4. I heard from the dipping dots guy that he saved all of his earnings and bought the company so he can proclaimed himself as the DIPPIN DOT GUY!
  5. If Kings Island decided that it had to be replaced rather than trying to rehab it, it should be replaced by another wooden roller coaster!! No steel coaster should not even be considered.
  6. When Kings Island opened in 1972, I was a junior at Kings High School and I had a full head of red hair! Oh yea, I was first hired by Kings Island as a litter getter and it was my very first job!!
  7. My very first car was a nice 74 red Vega. Very first thing the Vega did when I drove it off the lot was the steering wheel cover come loose. Then I opened up the driver's side air vent and as I pulled it out, it came loose! I loved the way my Vega turned corners. As I would turn, I always had to race the front to keep the rear from beating me around the curve! Yea, what a car!
  8. The best time to process your season pass is during this early season processing times. If you wait until the park opens on April 28th, expect long lines and wait times.
  9. They can retake your picture in the season pass building with no problem.
  10. When I was first hired by Kings Island in 1972, my position was as a "litter getter", which was what we were called back then. We were under the Food Services Department back then. We were very proud to be liter getters and we thought it was the best job in the park. We were not tied down to one particular area and could roam our assigned area while we swept up the trash. We had constant contact with the guests and were one of the first ones they would come to when they needed assistance. Beings we were under the Food Services banner, we had a joke among ourselves that the only thing we had to do with food was when we swept it up. Yes, it was the best job in the park and it still is.
  11. I was first hired by Kings Island in 1972 and 2012 will mark the 40th anniversary when I was first hired by The Park and I look forward to welcoming back all my friends with their pets for me to take care of. I plan on taking my 90 year old father to the park for him to enjoy all the live shows and take in the sites.
  12. Greyhound can drive her all the way down to Cincinnati's Greyhound terminal and then she can grab a bus that will take her to Government Square, where there is a Metro bust stop and take the express bus to Kings Island.
  13. The most important question would be the drink capacity. Is it 20 oz, 24 oz, 32 oz?
  14. Whenever I would walk in the past the security post and notice a goose in the parking lot, I would jokingly say, "There is today's employee special at Oscar's!" To all the employees that were there before CF took over, it will always be Oscar's to us!
  15. The one perk that us employees loved in 72, was at the end of the day, LaRosa's would sale us the pizza's not sold to the employees for $1.00 for a whole pie. We would line up behind the IS LaRosa's for this perk! I even remember this taking place around 93 even. The pizza that is made in Oscar's today does not impress me as the same pizza you would buy at the LaRosa's outside of the park. They skimp on the pepperoni slices at about 3 or 4 pepperoni slices per slice of pie. As I said, i have not been Oscar's for a couple years but is a large fountain Coke still $1.00? If not, it should be.
  16. You should had posted that yesterday, April 1st and offered to sale it to someone/1
  17. What ever name the park chooses to call it, it will always remain as Oscar's to all of my fellow employees. I have not eaten there in over 4 years. During the Paramount years, I remember at the end of the season in 1995, we had a free steak dinner provided by the park to all employees. I always made a joke that the so called LaRosa's pizza that they provided, was LaRosa in name only, that they used the can sauce provided by LaRosa. It had very title cheese and it was not provolone and very few slices of pepperoni.
  18. When a guests was to say that Vortex is sinking, I would say that just is not true. It is a known fact I would tell them that The Bat, which used to be in this very same location grew out of that land and it kept on growing. As a matter of fact, I would say, it grew and The Vortex popped out and displaced The Bat. It is growing so much, I would say, that it is only a matter of time before another ride pops out and displaces The Vortex. Rides are not built, I would say, but in fact, are grown in the ground until the day they pop out, just like plants. This is a proven fact. Oh, what date is it today?
  19. I really enjoy all my current and past years working at Kings Island! I have worked in all areas and I must say, River Town was always so peaceful and full of trees and shade. I made lots of friends and still remember my friends working as a "litter getter" back in 1972. I have vivid memories of my work experience but I must say one of my most vivid ones was when I was working in HB in the 93 when I had a little boy literally run up my back leg! I won't go into the time I was stuck in quicksand or muck up to my chest back in 1974 while working grouting the monorail forms. We had fun and it is still fun to this very day.
  20. I still have my two PKI polos from the 90's that Kings Island gave us to wear while working. I also have several of different colors with PKI logos on them from 2005. Not counting my Paramount Kings Island work jacket from 1996.
  21. When I went out to Vegas in 2002, I had a great time. Saw Star Trek: The Experience, Grand Canyon, and saw my favorite singer Sheena Easton. I stayed at The Sahara and had my picture taken with the Charo and she gave me a huge hug!!! I played the slots and did very good. At the end of the week when it was time for me to go, I was down got my last $50 but I won $800 on the slots!! One thing when I played slots at The Bellagio and had to use the mens room, I was surprised it had an attendant offering fancy cloth towels instead of paper towels, of course tips were expected!
  22. i was riding The Bat when all of a sudden the land rose and The Bat was thrown in the air and The Vortex rose from the ground where The Bat used to be. After all, The Vortex is not sinking but rather the land continues to rise until the new ride shoves The Vortex into the sky. Isn't that how all rides are made? :)
  23. Great pictures of Kings Island's past! Just one question: As I was first hired in 1972 as a "litter getter" or sweeps as they are called now, I wore an all white uniform. We wore white pants, white shirts and a white golf cap, with black hush puppy shoes. Do you have any pictures of any of us sweeping up the litter? Inside the operations building are pictures of Coney Island and Kings Island from the last day of Coney to Kings Island opening. Lots of pictures of the employees in full uniform. Mike
  24. When a person mentions that The Vortex is sinking, I would say that is just not true, when in fact the land The Vortex rests on has been rising ever since it was constructed back in 1970! But there will be people that would believe that and to them I would say, "Here's your sign!"
  25. Just because the park has been long since paid off does not mean anything. The land might be paid off or financing for rides might had been paid off does not mean it is making money. It takes money to operate a business like the Beach year round. Yes year round. There are water, electric, sewer, garbage and salaries for full time help, insurance, loan payments and other expenses. But even if the land might had been paid off does not mean it has not been secured to obtain loans. It is a year long business and the bills do not stop during the off season. The Beach did not have enough attendance to compete with Kings Island and season pass sales is not enough to make ends meet. It needed an increase in general admission sales and sales inside the park and it was doing enough to earn a profit. If it was running in the red for several seasons and it was already extended when it came to loans, it would be hard to secure financing to meet its daily obligations. As for seeking legal advice in filing a lawsuit, I would venture a lawyer after hearing about the loss, will not take the case due to the lack of a pot of gold on the other end. The lawyer will want money up front just to take the case. So yes, small claims court would be the best bet but winning the case is just the first hurdle. Next would come trying to collect on the money owed. As I have said before, it would be a matter of time before some sort of bankruptcy is filed, either by the Beach itself or the creditors will file it for them, which is called an involuntary bankruptcy. The Beach will seek protection from the courts in an attempt to reorganize and if it fails, then a chapter 7 will be filed.
