Are There FREE Handouts For Season Pass Holders Opening Day?
KI-ORIG-EMP replied to PKISecurity's topic in Kings Island
Back in 2005, while working at a certain location outside of the public view, Coke gave us cases of Coke Zero for us to drink! That sure hit the spot along with all the tons of free food the ladies working there used to bring in! Beings Coke is our soft drink provider, I ask a question while working there: "When will we be given cases of Bud for us to drink and sample? After all, they are our beer sponsor!" You can imagine the answer that I received! I ask that to my manager Dawn and Nikki when she paid a visit to my work location. -
Maybe Deters cam sentence some hard core felons to non-stop riding as a condition of their jair term! Heck, maybe even reduce the sentence of some if they ride it!

When I worked there as a "litter getter", I swear I saw a cotton mouth in the water. I know them as I saw one up close and personal once.

My father used to deliver news papers on his bicycle and one thing they did was help out in giving warnings and asisting in giving badly needed supplies.

Construction Underway on Kings Island Drive
KI-ORIG-EMP replied to Thane Of Price Hill's topic in Kings Island
I drove down Kings Island Drive last week around 2PM and there was not a single worker on it. Their equipment was parked on the side. The road had the asphault stripped off but you would think they would be work as fast as they could to get it completed by opening day. While they are at it, why doesn't Mason have the traffic light at Western Row and Columbia turn on the left turn sighnal for the KI employees? They have left turn signals on on the other side except for us. That is why traffic backs up there because it only takes a couple cars driving on Western Road to stall the traffic. That is why cars are backed up on KI Drive turning left onto Western Row. The left turn signal should be on for both Western Row turning into the employee entrance and KI Drive turning left onto Western Row. What about it Mason?? -
Rock Band Live Coming to Kings Island (Confirmed)

Besides having a passport, make sure you do not have a crimal record of any sort. If you had a DUI or any infraction that is criminal in Canada, you will be denied entry. Not counting felonies, if you had a driving infraction just as reckless operation, shoplifting you will not be allowed in. Just check out Canada's web site for details. But on the flip side, a person from Canada will be allowed in the USA with a driving infraction I listed above. If you wish to visit Canada, then you will have to wait 5 years from the end of the sentence and apply for rehabitation. Just ask President Bush when he visited Canada as president. -
I worked at Information Resources, the leading package goods market research firm, and brand loyality is well known. When it comes to name brand products, consumers will always choose certain brands even if the price increases. There are certain brands that I will always choose over local or the "other" brand. Heinz is always my choice for ketcup. It has more flavor and is thicker over the other brand. It is the same for Coke, Skippy peanut butter, and Kraft Mayo to just name a few. Places like Cedar Fair, fast food restruants I am sure conduct product research in test markets and focus groups to gage the public's acceptance to brand changes. They combine that with surveys, both blind, mail and phone surveys to see if they will change their preferences. But I would venture that just because CF chooses change their ketchup providers will not see their attendence drop for that reason. Now if they change their soft drink vendors it will only come after countless surveys and what is in the contracts Cedar Fair has between the vendors and the location of their parks and how strong the brands are with the public. But I would only be speculate about brand choices and I will not do that. If they do change, that is of no concern to me.

Construction Underway on Kings Island Drive

What, fix pot holes? Those pot holes were designed when the parking lot was first paved. The pot holes in the employee lot have been there for several years and have been filled and refilled each year. If the fixes for pot holes lasted there would be lots of people out of jobs and they must used water based asphault in their special mix. -
I have been wearing glasses since the 8th grade and have gotten used to wearing them. I have bad eye sight and could never wear contacts. Also, there are very good looking styles of frames, unlike when I first started wearing them. Now if had to wear the birth control glasses like I had in the army, then I guess I would try wearing contacts.

Theme Park Jobs...
KI-ORIG-EMP replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
In all of my 16 seasons working at Kings Island, I have never ever been stonned or drank, nor have any of my co-workers. Unless Cheech or Chong ever worked at one of the seasonal parks. Kings Island does not hire characters but rather people of character and we care and enjoy the work that we do. -
That was my first job at Kings Island when hired in 1972. I worked at that I was a litter gitter (sweep) for 10 years and it was the best job! Worked outside and had the entire park as an area to work in. No working in the same spot the entire day.

The call center is located at the park. I filled in there one day years and years ago, and had almost daily interaction with them for years when I worked at the park on a regular basis. A few of the same people are still there, and they are a good group of people. It's a good department to work in (or at least it was in the Paramount days... hopefully it hasn't changed much under CF). Good luck, and welcome to the site! Thanks!! I still haven't heard anything yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed! I worked at the call center in 2005 (was call rep for FedEx for 4 years)and it was a great place to work. Yes, there are still regulars there and I am still friends with them. Now I of course work in the Pet Care, which fits in really great for me. Hope you get the job. Just remember to pay attention to detail and give correct information.

I had a cervical fusion surgery back in 2003 that the surgeon put a pin and screew into the disks in my neckand I will most likly have more surgery soon. Needless to say, I do not ride any roller coasters period. The cause extreme jerky movements and I do not want to arrive in the station paralized.

World's most popular beagle arrives at Kings Island

With me working in the marketing field after leaving The Mount, I can picture Snoopy posing beneath the Pet Care entrance and me shaking his paw! It would be a nice promotion for our Pet Care Center, which is where I work! Maybe if Don sees this and says to himself, "Yes! This is a great ideal!!" "Lets make it so!!" -

Well, actually other types of service dogs are also allowed in the park, but most doggies are relegated to elsewhere. The real question...where is Scooby allowed in the park now? Only with you or can he go in? Ah, the answer awaits most patrons on April 17... As for Seeing Eye Dogs, did you know that is one organization that provides guide dogs? http://www.seeingeye.org/aboutUs/ Yes, there are other type of working dogs that would be allowed in the park with their owners. I had a very nice seeing eye dog in the kennel last season. The owner requested that he stay there as he was with others. He was very well trained and very friendly. I bet most people did not know that if you see someone with a seeing eye dog to not go and pet him/her without asking first. I even had a policeman come in and boarded his working K9 police dog. I posted under his dogs name "Do not pet" and made sure young kids would not attempt to pet. He was very well trained and obeyed his masters commands to a tee. -

Snoopy might have a hard time getting inside the park as only seeing eye dogs are allowed inside. I would love to have him spend the day in the Pet Care Center and all of the Peanut Gang can visit him and take him for walks. -
I lived the TV's from the 50's and I miss My Little Margie. The TV was the center piece of the living room and we sat in front of it.

As in other messages, wait for either the letter or the email and you will see the light.

I lived in Kings Mills all my life and used to hike on the land that Kings Island now sits. I would watch the construction of the tower and the rest of the rides while eating lunch and attending classes at Kings High School. When I was first hired in 1972 at the park, I would ride my bike back and forth to the park. I would ride down Columbia Road past the green house and the camp grounds.

Will one of the songs they pipe through the sound system be Snoopy vs. The Red Baron by the Royal Guardsmen?
-
The big hang up as far as the KI employee entrance is there is not a left turn signal off of Western Row. There is a turn signal in each direction except for going into KI employee entrance. It only takes a few cars going west bound to hender trafic and why Mason does not activate the left turn signal is beyond me. But I am sure they will state some traffic study as to why not. When the left turn off of KI Drive is on, have the left turn off of Western Row on.

I really liked the Days of Thunder ride. Do you remember the sounds of the race being played at the entrance? My asignment when I had the rest room cleaning detail at the end of Coney Mall was to keep that mens restroom cleaned. I could not help hear the NASCAR race being played with the radio announcers talking about Rusty Wallace. I heard that broadcast that I had it memorized and could recite it word for word. The ride itself was very great with the sound effects and when they jacked the car, your seats would go up and when the car roared off, your seat would slam you back in your seat.

I am not afraid of heights. I remember back in 74 when I worked as a construction helper at Kings Island walking the mono-rail track (about 1 foot wide) across the ravine without any safty harness. Back then we did not wear those safty devices. I just did not look down and sure made sure the soles on my boots were clean. I was grouting the foundations that the track supports were attached too. Anybody sky dive? Looking out of the plane and the ground far below would give one second thougths about their scare of heights as they took that step out of the plane.
