I love any type of melon!

Does no one remember when the Sky Ride got stuck and all the passengers had to be brought down by the fire department? Like Terp said, all rides have plans on how to deal with this. But I am sure no employee would discuss it online here.

How can Six Flags call it a "handling fee" when the user is printing it on their printer? The ideal behind buying your tickets online is to save on labor and waiting in line at the park. I call this another name for a tax or user fee or whatever Six Flags calls it. Either way it is fleecing and creating hardwill with the guests.

I have a thought. Why don't we introduce new characters based on the Simpson's? I would love to see Homer greeting us adults. What about it? Duh....(in my best Rosana Dana impression.....NEVER MIND!)

Go to the Senior Prom. You have spent 12 long years going to school and putting in all the hard work. While the prom might seem to be a glorified party it is far from the truth. Granted it would mean putting out the dollars for a tux or gown, it is your reward for your time, hard work and effort that you put into going to school. Kings Island will there the next day, next week and even next month, but you only have ONE Senior Prom and if you miss it, it is gone. Go to it and enjoy the memories. I missed my prom because for all things I did not have a date. I wish I could go back in time but it is gone forever. Go to it and have fun.

Graffiti in Diamondback Line Already

I remembered when I was in Ecology, I would pay lots of attention when my area to clean also included Skyline in the Coney Mall area. Guests would sit and eat their coneys or 5 way chili and leave lots of cheese and chili on the ground or on the benches. They would do this even though there a lots of trash cans in the park. The same would be when I had to clean in fron of LaRosa's Pizza in International Street. During the noon time, that area can be very busy and just a very few might leave their pizza slices on the tables or on the ground. I can see a few crumbs but entire meals left on the benches or ground? But like mention if other posts, defacing fences just shows people think they have the right to leave their mark. How would they feel if guests to their homes did the same thing? I doubt they would be happy about it. -
As a long term Kings Mills resident, I remembered Mason when it it was a sleepy villiage and it has gotten way too big for its britches. It has seized land from the township hand over hand. It only sees $$$$ signs from the likes of P&G and now Kings Island. I used to live at Sterling Lakes and it was an in Deerfield Township and was completly surrounded by Mason. There was no money to be had and did not annex for that reason, in my opinion. That is the very same reason why they did not annex the land just east of the interstate bridge and the sleepy hamlet of Kings Mills. Look how they have spent money for the divided roads leading into Mason with the fancy street light fixtures? They spent lots of tax dollars on a skate boarding park just off of Mason/Morrow Rd. Now that they did all of this and with the economic down turn, they are looking towards Kings Island as a way to generate more tax dollars with this admission tax. Speaking of Kings Island, I think all they saw in Kings Island in the first place when they annex it was the income tax revenue from the employees. Mason knew they would have to pay the upkeep of Kings Island Drive along with providing water and sewer support. But wait, why did Mason spend $10 millions to buy the golf course? And now they come to KI to raise the needed tax revenue. I say cut costs and stop the wasted spending of things not needed to run the city.

I will be at Kings Island at 8:00 am but I will be working. Does this count? The Kings Island Original Employee

In my years at the park, young kids do not care how cold it is when it comes to water rides or Boomerang Bay. One weekend working BB wh"en it was cold, I saw a kid just enjoying himself in the water while the life guard, wearing a coat out side the water must had been thinking, "Don't even make me go in there after you! "

I have worked under all the owners of The Island and they all left their mark. Of Taft, Kings Entertainment, Paramount Parks and now Cedar Fair, I would have to put my mark with Taft. I worked at The Island for the first four years of the park's operation, starting in 1972. I liked each themed area of the park having their own flavor and distinctive music. When I worked in the park, I always enjoyed working in Coney Island (now Coney Mall) for the music they played. As a musician myself (Tenor Sax, Harmonica, Concertina), I loved the music that they played. There is one piece of music in particular that I enjoyed the most. I forget the title of it but I know one of the lines of it: "Yes sir, that's my baby; yes sir, that my honey; yes sir that's sweety pie!' Yes, I like the music but don't get me wrong, there were other things also. Besides the parties in the park, they paid for us to go to a Reds game, which was in 1974. Now I am basing this as an employee and not as a guest. But I would have to say as a guest, Taft made their mark on The Island. They made each section of the park have their own unique design. Coney Island recreated the days gone by of the early 20th century. River Town had rustic look and feel to it. Hanna Barbera Land created an atmosphere as if the kids were entering a cartoon. And Octoberfest reminded me of my grandparents homeland in Germany. As mention, each had their own music to set the mood. Taft brought the best of Coney Island with them and created new rides and areas that defined Kings Island that it is to this very day. One thing I can say for Cedar Fair, they are bringing back the glory days of my my youth, not that I am old. Cedar Fair has brought back the same glory that was and is Kings Island and best of all, they are making sure that MY Island will continue to excel in the years to come. Oh I remember that day very much! As a member of the Kings High School Marching Band, I marched in the grand opening parade, and also the opening of Kings Island Drive. It was a very fun day as you could see. I did not start working there until June in 72 and that litter gitter in the video brough back memories. I remember wearing those white shirts, white pans, white golf hat and the dreaded black hush puppies. We had lots of fun working there, as we do even to this very day. Kings Island is a very great place to work at and meet lots of good friends.

I wrote a virus while in college as an assignment but never post it on the internet. It is not hard to do for an experience programmer. I once was the victim of a virus that wiped out my operating system. I had to reload my OS and ALL programs, which I had backed up. As always, BACK UP, BACK UP your computer on a regular basis. -
I have a few of those that we bought in 1972 at the park.

I used to remember hiking all over Kings Island before it was even thought of and the only "racer" that I encountered was colored "black" and scared the heck out of me! But my last experience with that Shooten Star along the river in the fall of '71 made be giddy for the "Racer" being built in my old hiking grounds. It was just fun feeling the rush of the wind in my face while droping down that hill on that grand 'ole' lady just gave my shivers. They might make them so high as to touch the stars, but nothing compares to The Racer, that grand ole lady on the mall. The only thing missing is the music from the roaring twenty's! Bring back the good old days.

I have a metal plate and screw in two disks in my neck and they have no problems with any rides. I did ride FoF once with no problems, but do not ride any more rough rides any more. The magnets should not be a concern but rather the leg itself. Did he have his bone fused with the rod? I would check with your doctor just in case. Xgatorhead is correct, go to Guest Relations and they can give you all the info and handicap waver for rides.

I remember waiting in line for The Bat for about 2.5 hours during the mid-day on a very sunny, hot day. Usually I wear a hat to keep the blazing sun off of my shinny head but on this day my head was bare and I received a very bad sun burn that caused my head to blister. Oh, the curse of being a red head!

what is the longest ride you have ever ridden?

I took the train to DC, does that count? Otherwise, it would be The Beast. -
Diamondback Location on Opening Day 1972
KI-ORIG-EMP replied to FOFirehawkFAN's topic in Coming Attractions
When my family moved to Kings Mills in 1956, there was nothing but corn fields and woods. There was no I-71 and Mason was just a village. I remember being in the car driving down Kings Mills and Columbia Roads and smelling all that "country air." All the land that is now Kings Island was all woods and what was left of the old King Powder Company. When I-71 was built in the 60's, it all changed. The city was approaching and it is now what it is. How the times has changed. -
During my 2nd year working in the park in 73, I ask Charlie Dinn if I could come and work for him and he said, "Come after Labor Day and I will hire you." I remember Charlie marking my height on the entrance on the wall and seeing how much I had grown. I worked full time in maint working as a laborer assisting in building all the footings to the mono-rail in Lion Country. I worked there through 73 and 74.

Floppy drives? I used to use the 7 inch floppy at college using an ancient Mohawk in the late 80's. Don't even get me going on the tape drives.
