  1. It could be anything from the network being busy or too many programs running in memory.
  2. Never eat a 3 or 5 way chili and then expect nothing to happen after riding thrill rides. All that will do is churn up the stomach and nature takes its course. For that matter, don't eat anything heavy before you ride. Did you see the scene in Band of Brothers after they were served all that pasta and sauce and then forced to go on that run? Their meal came right back up. But do drink plenty of water as has been discussed.
  3. Michael is a prime example that you can not live on borrowed money as it has to be paid back in some sort. The sad part is the people and lawyers that will trip over each in an attempt to get rich over his name. I look for it to be tied up in probate.
  4. What? Kids don't know who Fess Parker was? He played Davy Crocket and yes, I did have a coon skin hat!!!
  5. I vote for Charles Dinn, my old boss when I was in maint.
  6. Untill it is officially released by Kings Island and Cedar Fair it is not true. Until then, anything that Screamscape saids is nothing but rumor. Until then, should not this thread be moved to the rumor section? Just asking.
  7. What happens when your friends or relatives take you up on it and say, "lets ride Diamondback." Kind of hard to back out when you said you had riden it. The best way to over come your fear is to just ride it. After the first hill, you will be back in line to ride it again and again.
  8. With regards to the price of food in the park and people on KIC and other sites complaining about the high prices of the food reminds me of a story that my economics professor told us: A toll bridge in Chicago was constantly losing money due to drivers avoiding it and were willing to drive further just to avoid paying it. The officials tried everything they knew on how to raise revenues. They tried the following: 1. Raise the tolls on the bridge. This reasoning is based on the notion that by raising the tolls, commuters were paying more to cross the bridge and thus increase the revenues. They figured by having the same number of commuters crossing the bridge each day it would increase the revenues. But that was not the case. Less and less commuters crossed the bridge and were willing to drive further to avoid paying the increased tolls. The bridge officials were getting really worried and confused. The drop in revenues was cutting into the operation and maintenance of the bridge and they might have to cut back on personnel and cut back on repairs. They have tried everything they knew on how to increase the toll revenues and nothing worked. They were getting worried. Then someone said, "We have tried everything we knew on how to increase the revenues, but what about lowering the tolls?" There was no way that would work and they were dead set against it. But the fact facing them in the face forced them agree lower the tolls, even though they knew for sure it would not work. Reason being how can you increase revenues when you charge less for the product? Well what they in their tunnel vision failed to realize it by lowing prices would generate an increase in sales and revenues increased when compared to prior numbers. 2) Tolls were lowered on the bridge. After their objections over lowering the tolls, they reluctantly agreed, knowing there was no chance it would work. But how wrong they were. When it was announced, drivers crossing the bridge increased in numbers far above anything in the past. Revenues jumped and the increase was far more than they anything they ever thought of. This could apply to trying to increase food sales at the park. Rather than raise the prices by a nickel here and a dime here, what about lowering the price and also increase the variety and quality. This could apply to anything than just food sales. It could apply to admission prices, merchandise, games and others. More people might be willing to buy the product and increase the revenue, which is what the goal is. You just take a different road that will lead to the same destination.
  9. The parks will change their mind when it begins to effect thier mind. All it takes will be for people to start going to more "food friendly" parks and they will relax the rules or change the prices and variety of foods. I can see see not allowing guests to bring in complete picnic or meals but not a snack or a single serve drink, especially for small kids. But anybody that requires a special diet due to health restrictions or for an infant should be allowed.
  10. As a long term resident of Kings Mills, I know the area very well. In my youth, I used to hike through that area all the time. If you pan the map along the river, you can also see the ruins of the former King Powder Company. http://www.middletownlibrary.org:8080/cgi-...mp;CISOVIEWTMP=
  11. It does not matter how high he falls as it does not hurt you, but rather the sudden stop when he hits the ground. There is no way I would ever walk a tight wire, even if I was able to. I would bust my bottom even if it was 2 inches off the ground!
  12. The one thing to remember is that credit report is not free. You pay for a credit monitor service and they charge you after 30 days.
  13. Back in 1972 when it was near 100 degrees, I notice a group of people that were either Quakers or Mennonite's wearing their traditional attire. The women were wearing long, black skirts with long sleved tops and guys with their beards and same type pants. If you have been to Dutch PA, you see them all over and riding in their horse drawn buggy's. To a lay person it would seem they must be crazy wearing that clothing in such heat. But if anybody has ever been in the Saraha or any other hot spot would know they cover themselves from head to toe to protect them from the heat and stay cool. But the black clothing the guests were wearing absorb heat rather than repell it. But they kept themselves well hydrated and had no problem in dealing with the heat.
  14. When I worked in admissions at the front gate, I would ask people wearing offending shirts to change it or turn them inside out before going through my line. The offending shirt had in big, bold letters "F**K Y*U". I also seen a security guard escort a guy with a offending shirt to the shop to buy a decent shirt to wear.
  15. Once back in the 90's while sweeping the Vortex line, I saw a lady wearing a brief bikini top (Dolly Parton size) along with cut off shorts exposing her bikini bottoms and she had a Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction. Did it cause her to blush or turn red?? Nope. She just fixed it as if nothing happen. I remember her because she was wearing a red, white, and blue bikini and you might say she was showing her "colors!" I think this is ok over at the water park, but not in the park itself. I think all bathing suits should be covered, even the tops. Because I am proud of the work I do, I made sure that part of the line was spotless. Speaking of doing good work, once while working for Montgomery Wards as a porter, I was pushing a dust mop along the hall when the lady I refered to as "Miss America", was wearing her usual purple skirt with a slit going all the way up the side of her leg. As she past me and I turned my head to keep her in my sight, I ran into one of my supervisor friend. He knew what I was doing and laughed also. The point is wearing revealing bikini tops or any other clothing is a distraction. Also beings we are a family park, children are witness to this. They should not have to see this.
  16. You might want to ask the person working at the lost and found booth directly next to the metal detectors if they might allow you to keep your helmet with them. Not sure but it will work but who knows.
  17. Wednesday, July 1st should not be crowded like the 4th will be. It should be like any other Wednesday crowd wise. Now as you get towards Friday, then the crowds should increase. Expect the 4th of July to be more crowded than a normal Saturday.
  18. For the most part they change it once pass the entrance. As for offensive words on shirts, I have seen them force to either turn it inside out, buy a shirt or go home. Also regarding bathing suits, I think that all should wear tops along with shorts over their suit. I have seen women wearing very revealing bathing tops in the park acting as if nothing was wrong. Once in the 90's while sweeping around The Vortex line, a lady in a very brief top had a "wardrobe" malfunction and just fixed it like nothing happen.
  19. I have seen the guys wearing the pants sagging down their butt and I have been temped to step on the pant leg and see his reaction when the pants fall down exposing his crown jewels. I wonder just why they must have their hands in the pockets other than holding them up. If I was their father, they will never ever wear their pants that way. Heck, if it was in style, they will wear nothing at all. I remember once while watching COPS on TV, that a guy that was being chased by a cop lost his pants when it got caught on a fence.
  20. I read the news regarding the Marine being refused entry. As stated on other posts, there are other non ride activities to engage in. I would think if it was arranged ahead of time, things would had been different and he and his friend would had been admitted without cost. As a vet myself, I salute him for his service.
  21. I probably see you all the time because I am in Admissions. We always see them pass by. 2008 Post Season- SOB/Flight Deck 2009- Admissions I have had many jobs while working at the park except for rides, food services and merchandise. I pass by admissions every morning and say hellow to most I see and worked with. Stop me and introduce yourself. I have gotten to know most of the pets that come through pet care.
  22. Every time when I passed the news 5 van at work, I would say to myself, "Channel 5, where news is last!"
  23. I had a rubiks cube that I fiddled with all the time. I even solved it.
  24. Sweep - 1972 to 1973 Ride Construction - 1973 to 1974, assisted in construction of foundations for the mono-rail in Lion Country. Sweep - 1974-to 1975. Sweep - 1992 to 1994 General Services (pet care center) 1994 to 1996 Marketing - Call Center - 2005 Admissions - 2006 to 2008 Security (pet care center) - 2009
  25. Wrong. There are homes around Kings Island when it was built in 1972. I lived in Kings Mills since 1957 and the town has been there since the 1880's. We have heard the fire works ever since they began setting them off and could always set our clocks at 10PM when they went off. Even when they built Lion Country, we could hear the lions roar in the early morning when it was time for them to eat. Their roar carried for some distance. The vast majority of the home owners that live in "old" Kings Mills are retired and respect their sleep very much. So how can you say there was nothing around Kings Island when it opened in 1972? The fire workds always went off at 10PM, even when it closed at midnight.
