  1. During my stay at The Mount, I went to intern at AT&T and we are advised of the company's policy regarding privilege information that we might come across in the course of our tenure with them. It does not matter how high up in the company you are with them, even if you in a lower position and come across a memo regarding a confidential conversation with high executives. Any information that is leaked can and will lead to termination. There has to be a level of trust in any position within the company. This would apply with Cedar Fair also.
  2. Speaking of video effects, do you ever see how the spokes on a wheel appears to stand still when a strobe light is shined on them? I wonder if anybody ever tried to stick their hand in between the spokes as the appear to be stopped? You know someone would be stupid enough to try it?
  3. Interns or any body that works for Cedar Fair should read the employee hand book regarding disclosing things that has not been announced to the public. Even if you do not give your name but only your user name, it is not hard for CF to put two and two together and find who the intern that is posting things that is confidential.
  4. I don't care if it is a giga or a mega as long as it is made out of wood!
  5. Yes.You must be able to swim. Being able to swim might be discriminatory to some people 3 beers short of a 12 pack.
  6. Pretty soon we will have 20 plus pages before the demolition even begins for SOB.
  7. People that ride motorcycles know not to keep their mouths open while riding. What does he expect parks to do, run insect fogger through out the park to kill those pesky pests? If so, he will then complain about the fumes from the bug spray.
  8. As they say, speed kills! Slow down, obey the speed limits, and for God sake, do not drink and drive and for all kids and adults, stop the texting on your phone while driving. That text you feel the need to check while driving will be there when you finish your drive. Take note when driving in parking lots, in school and residential zones and look both ways constantly and turn down that music. Driving is enough of a distraction and keep your eyes on the road.
  9. As all employees and former employees know, the hiring process starts around the mid to end of December by applying online and interviews start after the first of the year. We usually process around March, as all current and former employees know. As for a negative ding that resulted in a no rehire, usually it is a year from working depending on the nature of the ding. I would still apply as usual when it opens up and go from there. If you don't apply, there is no chance you will be hired.
  10. You know if portions of the wood from SOB would be sold to people, with all the known risks from the treatment process, they will still sue after they get sick. There will be lawyers that will be licking their chops over the chance to make a few bucks. But if you really want to roast marshmallows over all that pressure treated lumber and all the toxic materials given off, go for it. Let me know how your lungs feel after breathing in all that gunk.
  11. You would be surprised at the number of people that eat at Skyline and then decide to ride rides like that. All it does is churns it up and you expel your lunch. I hated to work as a litter getter those areas in front of The Racer and other rides that turns you every which way. It all has to be sanitized before the ride can operate. Thank God for Voban.
  12. It all is about the costs involved to stage the event and the revenue expected and the extra time and expenses related to getting the park ready for the next season. The park has to remove all the Haunt attractions and set it all up for the WinterFest. All this will take away from the time spent in rehabbing all the rides and making general improvements to the rest of the park. It would be labor intensive and bound to put strain on the staff working on this. I would think if it ever happen, it would be low key to start and gage the fan reaction through various surveys and focus groups. It would all be geared towards the holiday events rather than just trying to operate rides like it was during the fall. Believe me, I have worked during the first season when we were open in the first weekend in November and we FROZE!
  13. That is what I would do if I was going to build a replacement ride. I would want bids on the cost of tearing it down and the cost of building the new ride and other expenses related to it. I only have X amount of dollars in addition to other improvements for other parts of the chain.
  14. I would think that the budget for the new expansion plans will include the cost of tearing down SOB.
  15. The person behind the counter at the food stand is not trained to the same level as the person at Guest Services is. When I was a CSR at FedEx and when a customer was so angry and it was evident that I could not do anything further, we had a team of CSR's that soul job was to handle these type of complaints and had more authority to solve and handle them, all without having to be bother by their handle time (a measurement of time from when a called is taken to its conclusion), which we as CSR only had 120 seconds to take a call and finish it. But look at the way that lady from Chic-Fil-a handled that jerk that berated her. Any other might had dumped that order in his lap but their training allowed her to keep her cool and make him look as the fool he was. Associates at the park are not hired by the chains such as Skyline but by the park and their customer service skills might be different at the actual Skyline restaurant. But do take into account how busy the stand was and the number of employees filling the orders. Or try working behind the food counter and ask yourself, how would you react if a customer acted like this to you? How would you feel?
  16. Bat might think it was 10 minutes, but how often do you time your order from start to finish? How many orders were made before he placed his order? That preparer is making the orders in the order in which they were received. At what time was it placed? I know when business slacks off during a period of time, it is not uncommon for employees to be sent home rather than have more employees for the level of business. I bet the actual time was around 5 or 8 minutes and it seemed like it was 10 minutes. But if in fact if did happen or it was slower than what it should had been, then the proper thing would had been to report it to Guest Services at the front gate and tell them what happen and the location and what you expected to be done about it. But I would not come on to this site and rant about what you thought was poor service. I have been a customer service rep for FedEx and I know about irate customers that call to complain. But any cussing a customer makes to the CSR is when we state to them that tone of voice is not called for and if it continues we can and will hang up on them as per our SOP. Now if I was a fast food employee and I had a customer start yelling at me about an order like this and I thought it was unwarranted and he kept on getting abusive to me, I will tell him to serve him self as I told him where to shove it as I quit. I don't care how you feel about the lack of service that you received, never yell at the order taker (making minimum wage) but contact the corporate office, but in this case, Guest Services. Cussing or not cussing, any type of loud voice or yelling is not called for.
  17. Oh the irony! Court's in session, Court's in session cause, here comes da judge, here comes da judge!
  18. Is that in the park or outside the park? Yes. Terp, in your heart you knew he would. Quack! Quack, Quack....as I waddle to the soap dispenser and crank a paper towel from my Paramount Kings Island towel dispenser.
  19. Lots of areas besides food service reduce or close down locations when the park is not as busy to warrant keeping the location fully staffed. Why have all the food stands open when there are other locations that can take up the slack? Why keep all registers open when they are not busy? Just keep open one line rather than two or three. Fully staff the locations during the very busy times and when business slacks off due to small crowds and fewer employees, close some locations and send others to other locations or send them home. Same thing goes with rides during the end of August when students start going back to school. No need to keep all job locations fully staffed when the crowds die down and start sending employees home. Why pay employees when there is not enough work volume to justify staying open.
  20. ... A suburb of Cincinatti. ...but still has Kings Mills as its mailing address (my former home town where I grew up!).
  21. How many orders were placed before you placed your order? They prepare the orders in the order they were placed. They repeat your order to you to ensure they have the order correct and to not give you your food and you find it was not what your ordered or you decided to change it. Also, was the order placed during the lunch rush? Have you ever worked in fast food places?
  22. Did the park order the gear from Spacely's Space Sprockets and by chance did George build it? Or did Cogswell build the original gear and it was of an inferior quality?
  23. I love the ribs at Montgomery Inn. Do you remember when the park served Montgomery Inn ribs in Wings during the 90's? They used to have the ribs smoking on the side of the building in plain view and it was something to behold.
  24. Have you ever heard what the term, "up selling" means? The price for a coney is higher than just a plain hot dog. Every sales person is taught to up sale on any order or service they receive. I do it all the time at work and the end result is increased revenue for the park. Try the same thing at a regular Skyline off of Kings Mills Road and you might hear something similar. They are asking just on the chance you were mistaken and wanted the order changed after you receive it.
  25. I can just see the local building inspector make a visit and writing lots of building code and zoning violations. Look at what they do with a kid wanting to open up a lemonade stand on their front lawn or the grief they give if you build a tree house.
