I must disagree about the hot chocolate as this is one of the most amazing things I've ever had beverage wise in my life.

^, ^^ I'll agree with both of you however, what I do like about the red/blue one is that it shows the curvatures of the towers better. -

Just wanted to post the more colorful and patriotic version of the one above. -

Okay I scrapped my previous drawing seen on the first page. So here's what I've been working on now. This option as another one presented would renovate the current entry gate. The front towers would be simply for looks while the rear would be elevator towers. All towers would be to somewhat frame the Eiffel Tower. The Now Showing boxes on the front would be for LCD screens for the park to use as it saw fit. Hope you enjoy. -
Personally I love Disaster Transport and it was actually my second favorite coaster in the park (MF being my favorite and Maverick my least) last year at Haunt. Perhaps I enjoyed it so much because it was a near walk on during a super crowded day, or perhaps because it reminded me of two rides mixed together from the past (Screamin Delta Deamon and Chaos at Opryland). Though I doubt it'll be moved I'd love to see it put in that big box in Rivertown.

Discounted Holiday World Tickets
AintNutinElse2Do replied to Jasper's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Go just a little further down the road to Santas Candy Castle. Tickets there are $37.94 but I highly suggest taking that savings and buying the famous Avalanche if your a fan of chocolate. -

Forgive me as I did this pretty quickly but here's an idea as to what I'd like to see KI's entry gate look like. Definitely a work in progress. http:// -
Dollywood Billboard
AintNutinElse2Do replied to jbt's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Back in Pre-Paramount times we used to get Kings Island TV commercials all the time. That's what got me to talk my dad into taking me which began my love for Kings Island ever since. So glad to see Dollywood making the investment up there, I've done Kings Island in a single day trip, more often two days though. For reference I live about 25 mins from Dollywood hence why I addressed the topic backwards. -
Not that I 100% (maybe like 85%) agree, but Vekoma http://www.vekoma.com/ actually does consider them suspended.

DA at Cedar Point in 2012
AintNutinElse2Do replied to Captain Nemo's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I think it would of been a great idea if they reused the boat for the exhibit. A boat ride back in time to a land of dinosaurs, would've gave the $5 entry more perceived value as well. -
How many licks DOES it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop?...shall I keep going? I'd like to answer this one 987 single licks, yes I often amused myself as a child.

New at Holiday World for 2012

I'm thinking the pro slide version of the aqua loop and surf rider. Then on the dry side maybe a Zamperla Giant Discovery or other non Huss frisbee type rides in the 4th of July section. BTW what are those spinning firework things called? -
Well to be blunt Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat, this lady turned her shirt around. Rosa took a stand or seat I should say this lady made a complaint. I'm pro gay rights don't get me wrong but how is it right to act unequal and expect equality? There was nothing in me that told me start talking like a girl, to stop fishing, to stop working on my car and start wearing Hollister when I finally realized to myself I was gay. There's simply a time and a place to take a stand and a water park owned by a christian based company is not the place to do so. You wouldn't like it if a straight guy walked into a gay club with a shirt with a rabbit saying an obscene comment I can't make here. Which that last sentence is another example of a point I'm trying to make. Gay marriage will most likely happen within the decade but really isn't it just a piece of paper anyway? Yes there's those 1500 "lost" rights that for the most part we have ways around already and not to mention many companies offering domestic partnership benefits. Frankly I feel government should be taken out of the marriage equation altogether and only recognize domestic partnerships and let marriages be overseen by ones heart and their religion of choice.

I despise that this story is circulating on the national news now as I personally applaud Dollywoods employee for making the decision providing the employee wasn't being homophobic. I applaud them while I am myself gay. When people learn of my orientation I generally tell them that while yes I'm gay that is the smallest part of who I am and I'm Brad before I am anything else. The shirt and the couples reaction is completely opposite of what they claim they were trying to do, which was to provide an enjoyable family outing. No this is nothing like Rosa Parks, the Stonewall riots is probably one of the LGBT's biggest shifts in momentum for equality. While fighting for our rights we should not act as though our rights are supreme to others, how is that equality? The park is privately owned by a very spiritual organization they should have the right to uphold a dress code as they see fit. Heck there's plenty of gay clubs that wouldn't allow them in wearing that shirt.
-
I just don't see how they demand things both ways. In one instance we have tv commercials, legislation, etc saying don't say gay. Then you wear a shirt that says marriage is so gay. I understand the meaning of the shirt and personally I agree with gay marriage but the shirt is a political statement that has no part in a "family" day at a park. I would think the same of other political shirts. So I do think DW should make a policy change and say that any political shirts may be subject to dress code.

Carowinds' Giant Frisbee?
AintNutinElse2Do replied to bkroz's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Not saying it will happen but there's also the chance that IF Carowinds gets a Huss Frisbee another park might lose one. -
Just saying if anyone wanted to kill the "Fast Lane" flash mob style it might be easy but expensive. Get you and at least 61 other friends to purchase the Fast Lane and create your own ert session on Diamondback on a busy Saturday. As soon as you get off get back in line. Theoretically I guess you would actually need 4 trains worth of riders so bump that to 128 people. No doubt that would show the major flaw in the system.
-
I'm going to keep this short. I for one thought the lack of a fast pass system is what helped make Cedar Fair parks special. It kept everyone on a level playing field. With it now there KI no longer holds an advantage to me as a day trip over SFOG, I rarely spend time in waterparks otherwise it still would. Now granted I'd be much more likely to purchase a fast pass for Cedar Point as it's a much rarer trip so I guess I only prove the justification of the system.

RUMOR: California Great America Closing?
AintNutinElse2Do replied to CodyDL's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I think a lot of this stems from the loss of two coasters. That GCI that never was built. The stadium that might be built in the parking lot. Then articles like this http://www.wksu.org/news/story/27583 brought up on that other site followed by endless ranting by a know it all and his minions. From what I've seen though CGA has been doing well this year. Though if they close KI should definitely pick up their Flight Deck and their Top Spin to replace the current giant variety. -
New at Holiday World for 2012
AintNutinElse2Do replied to Colonel_SoB_fan's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
As someone who is now 31 and have been to many parks with much greater coaster collections I made the journey from East Tennessee to Holiday World last year. I came away feeling it was nearly my favorite park of all time just behind my home park of Dollywood. I am a huge thrill seeker and wasn't disappointed in HW the slightest bit and I only stepped foot on the Wildebeeest on the wet side the remainder of the day was spent on the dry side. I should also note I can easily enjoy an entire day at Lake Winnie never being bored. I feel it's about the approach you take when going to parks of varying sizes. When I go to KI, SF, CP, and so on I'm rushing from coaster to coaster trying to squeeze them all into a day often missing out on the smaller things. When I go to a smaller park I'm rarely rushing and find myself enjoying the park as a whole. Also if this tells anything next Thursday I will again be making the journey to Holiday World taking 3 newbies with me, granted I'll be up in Louisville Wed. for the NKOTBSB concert so the side trip made perfect sense, but we chose HW over KI. Not that I don't love KI mind you. As for the topic I feel this will be another water park investment it makes sense it's the parks bread and butter. I'm thinking it'll be of the aqua loop variety, likely a 2 loop complex with perhaps another couple slides mixed in and possibly a flow rider added to the side. -
If the park acted with negligence or a ride malfunctioned (neither is known publicly at this point) then yes there is warrant for a lawsuit. However, what would be the purposes of the suit outside of just a windfall? A man is dead I'm sure the park will undoubtedly pay for all expenses relating to this, funeral, burial, etc. If he had children then yes I could see compensation for the loss of income and a fair amount given to ease financial worries, you can't ease the loss a loved one but taking away another worry is a prudent gesture. The problem in America is that a lawsuit would likely be for far more money than what should truly be compensated. Though I'd be concerned of the potential outcome I'd be far more impressed if the family seeked out changes in policies in the amusement industry when involving disabled guests; stricter rules for the disabled or when possible new restraining devices for them. Not necessarily new restraints on rides but perhaps vests that could attach to a specific seat on a ride allowing a person without limbs to be restrained (doesn't The Beast have a system like this?) Again my heart goes out to the family of the victim and also to the Darien Lake family.
