Back to naming the T-Rex, if we went with Mr. Big I wonder will he have waited in a line of greens and blues just to be the next to be with you? Hope someone knows the reference there.

Ashers says it well. There's 3 parks gone near to me I miss dearly. I would often go to Magic World instead of Silver Dollar City/ Dollywood at the time their rides were more "thrilling." Then there was Ghost Town which was my first time driving somewhere over 20 minutes away, of course I wasn't supposed to. Then of course there was Opryland as our families alternative to going to Six Flags, and I still refuse to knowingly spend money at a Gaylord property. Let's all be thankful for the parks we have left, while I'm thankful to have Dollywood as my home park, I'd be just as thankful if Kings Island were mine. I often wish Thunderhead made a Beast like move into the woods and that Timer Tower was a drop, or not having to pay extra for the waterpark. Is there a Park Appreciation Week? If not there should be. Back to topic, anything is possible and might be more than one speculator right. (Please I beg all of us enthusiasts to never become oil speculators we'd have the gas up to $10 a gallon.) Dino's do seem possible if we run with that idea, would it be a permanent attraction or one that they rotate through the chain? Or perhaps something like S.S.S.

Is Geauga's Time Warp ride accounted for?

There is a very good possibly that come 3/18 there may only be an announcement of an announcement, and leave us all with more questions than answers.

There's that game where you add images together to make words and phrases. So for sure we have a red ribbon tied to a tree + a muddy puddle + a goose + tire tracks = Intamin Aquatrax of course. Nah I've got many thoughts and I've shared a more detailed one previously. So here's a bit more what if's... It is believed that ptc is the reason we no longer have backwards operation on The Racer. There are at least two G trains on property that haven't been used recently and if there is a major refurb on SOB new trains would likely be part of it. So just perhaps turning back the thrill could mean putting the g trains on one side of The Racer and returning it to backwards operation. This would of course only explain the slogan of the teaser. But hey speculation is fun when there isn't long to wait.

Letting my mind run wild here, here's a stretch of what could be happening. Let's say that the planning picture outlines the general area to be used. Let's say they do put in a walk through dino attraction in that area as phase 1 containing the worlds largest t rex. Action theater becomes Dino Island and entry to it moves to the new area walk through. We steal the old sphere from Borg-hawk and it becomes a meteor. In phase 2 the area could connect to x base and Firehawk could become a flying dino and fof could become meteor themed. Add to this that name "stratasoar" and that could be the big new ride to fit the theme or could be a new name for Firehawk, granted I'd rather it be a new one. As for it bringing something back, a dino area is in esence similar to what lion country safari was. While not being a thrill ride dinos can be thrilling. If Cedar Fair hadn't recently shown interest in walk through attractions with things like Snoopys Starlight Spectacular I'd give this even less of a possibility. I do think there's a chance though.

If he is covering something up it should also be noted that he would be pointing towards something with the pen.

KENTUCKY KINGDOM CLOSED
AintNutinElse2Do replied to PKIDelirium's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
With Chang having been on Six Flags property what right does the fairgrounds even have to demand it or it's value? Also what if they do find someone to take over, I'm assuming the new owners would have to buy property from SF to have the entire park? Or will there be some serious shadyness in the local government condemning SF's piece of the pie for the "greater good." IMHO if the fair really wanted to save the park they'd make a public offer to Six Flags for their part of the property and entice new owners with incentives. Like profit sharing in place of rent (at least for say 5 years), allowing partial ownership of the rides vs saying you put it here we own it. IE: If a new operator added a $10 million dollar ride during the first year the operator would own the ride in whole but say the fairgrounds would gain 5% ownership per year up to 50% of fair market value. Then in the event the new operator wanted to remove a ride they would need to pay the portion owned by the fair to them. Or offer Six Flags money for their part (and maybe rides, maybe not depending on who really owns them) then sell the park as a whole to a new operator and the fairgrounds enter into a 30 year lease with the new operator in order to hold the fair at the site. -
MegaWhip... Will it happen?
AintNutinElse2Do replied to Coney Islander's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Here's my wishful thinking... a few years back a Dollywood ride survey had the Henhouse Scramble dark ride. The mega whip could be an incredible ride vehicle for that concept. -
Why doesn't Cedar Fair do this!?
AintNutinElse2Do replied to DropZone99's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I would argue that the ratio of people to the size of park would be in favor of Holiday World when compared to KI. Also not all steel coasters are 20mil. I doubt wood coaster maintenance would double the original investment in under 30 yrs at least. -
I'm sure I'm not the first with the idea and I know loading would be an issue. But how cool would it have an outer facing rapids ride. They could use a soft vest restraint.
-
For me it would be Timber Tower at Dollywood. Though I must admit the ride looks amazing from the midway. Well when it's running at least.

Dollywood Christmas Opportunity

I'd just like to second that on Puleo's Grille, very good food and nice variety. For your drinkers try a Big Orange Bellini while your there. Puleo's is our fast growing chain with the Strawberry Plains location being the original (exit 398 off I-40) this is the one I prefer but have yet to find a bad meal at the others. Oh and how could anyone ever leave Tennessee Tornado out of a must do list at Dollywood? I'd prefer ride it than anything at DW but just barely more than Thunderhead. -
Voyage to get new trains for 2010
AintNutinElse2Do replied to csikoth's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
For me the new trains do seem very exciting and seems like an evolutionary step towards a floorless woody, can't wait to see what kind of creations GG comes up with the new trains in mind from the start. I do think they will be the first to launch a woody and the next to give one an inversion. On another note if they were added to Beast I wonder if they could lose a trim or two since it wouldn't beat up the track as much. -
KINGS ISLAND, CofC Vow To Fight Admissions Tax Proposal
AintNutinElse2Do replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
I think Kings Island, the Beach, and others should come up with a loop-hole. Since the tax is a percentage of admission and parking charge less for admission and create a new random charge to cover the difference. Example: If tickets were $29.99 charge $3.99 for admission and $25 for Security or for some random novelty souvenir. Then the city would only get the admissions tax on the $3.99 but the park wouldn't lose anything and the tax on the small amount wouldn't be very noticeable. Same could go for parking charge 50 cents for parking and $9.50 for the parking ticket required. Or just for kicks make the higher amounts a "enjoyment fee" so then when the city tries to tax it people would go crazy that their trying to tax enjoyment. -
DORNEY is getting DEMON DROP?!
AintNutinElse2Do replied to CedarPointer's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Okay, so I think the chances of this happening are about 30% but here goes my theory anyways. During the viral campaign before the announcement for Shoot the Rapids they many times mentioned lightning really does strike twYce. Many have drawn their own conclusions to that based on what was announced, but perhaps it's more about what wasn't announced. With Demon Drop now on it's way out and CGA having plans for the GCI that would conveniently fit in it's spot could it possibly be the other strike of lightning? We've all seen how quickly GCI can put up a coaster after having watched Terminator goe up very quickly. Just to add a little more fuel, STR was planned originally for 2009 so it would seem 2010 plans were already finalized as well. Thinking that Cedar Fair will likely do very cost effective rethemes of the Nick sections and only 3 of their parks recieving major capital investments it seems that a GCI may indeed be feasible in that regard to. Again I think the likelyhood of a coaster suprise at the point is unlikely for 2010, it's just some nice thinking. -
Ok, I first want to say I see no chance of Diamondback ever going backwards or for that matter Racer returning to one side backwards (unless there's a pretty sweet deal on some trains without the reccomendation.) But while thinking about DB backwards here is what I think would be very sweet. Rather than turn the whole train around or individual cars, take all the center seats and turn them backwards would also give a Face-Off err Invertigo'ish feel.

Reclaimed lumber is a growing trend that you see many places in construction and design now. You can make floors, OSB, furniture, and pretty much anything you can out of new wood. However I don't see the park actually gaining any money from it but instead just an offset of cost of disposal. Of course thats if they do what I hope they don't. All the bolts and rails on the other hand would probably get a pretty penny for scrap.

While I don't think the fountains will be removed and raized for a permament show. I do think there could be SOME truth to the rumor. The fountains could be temporarily removed for a show or an event, I wouldn't think all season but a few days or a week seems possible if KI was to host a major event. Didn't they remove the fountains for Winterfest for the skating rink? The part of this that seems to make it less likely though is that it wouldnt be a very good spot for a big event not enough room for seating, I would think.

When I read the rumored options on Screamscape, I was like wow he's been reading this here and various other forums. I don't understand why he even bothered posting some of it. I mean how much sense would it make to replace the wooden structure with steel to have the same ride? You would essentially be demolishing the coaster to put it back up only slightly different. I like SOB but would rather see it torched than to see that option, a lot of better things could come of the money spent in that situation. Now if it were done as a retrack with a few areas recieving metal supports that I would understand.

While I must say some people really do stink, it's part of it. When you go out into public you should expect certain things especially in a theme park enviroment. It's one thing to ask someone to leave at a sit-down restaurant due to the smell affecting those around, but in a theme park come on, on a hot summer day most everyone will end up stinking at some point in the day. That's why having all the fresh air around you is a good thing. It's a slippery slope, what if I was to go there and complain that a person's uglyness obscured my view of their coasters theming???

A Invertigo for sale.
AintNutinElse2Do replied to Coaster Kid's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
They may be selling it to another park so it would be another parks problem, but the other park may just be the winner. Look at the Giant Boomerang (DeJaVu) that was moved from a SF park to Silverwood, for a ride that was down more than it was up at SF, Silverwood has been able to keep it running quite reliably. From what I've read when Silverwood bought the ride they had Vekoma come in and set it to their standards actually removing some "un-needed" safety sensors that were added by SF. Don't hold me to that just read it somewhere. -
I'm sure a lot of you have seen this before but wanted to share anyhow. This is from RCCA's website... "Son of Beastâ„¢" for Paramount's King Island - World's Only Looping Wooden Coaster: In 1997, RCCA approached Paramount's Kings Island with the concept of creating the world's greatest wooden roller coaster ride - the first ever wooden "hyper-coaster": featuring a drop of 214 feet at a 55.7 degree angle, a mile and a third of track (7,032 feet), a top speed of 78 miles per hour; plus taking riders through a 103 foot high loop inversion on the return side of the ride! Werner Stengel of Munich, Germany designed the ride and its unique loop feature. Structural engineering for the giant wooden structure was performed by William H. Childress, P. E., Wood Structures, Inc. of Atlanta, Georgia. The "new generation" trains capable of performing an inversion were designed and manufactured for the ride by Premier Rides, Inc., Millersville, Maryland. The ride opened to an expectant public in May, 2000 with typical comments from fans like "this is the best ride I've ever been on" and "it's nothing but non-stop speed!"

I was going off of this statement on WiKi "An experiment in new public transportation methods at the time, it has now operated with good reliability for over thirty years, though it has not been replicated elsewhere to date" But hey BART seems very similar so I dunno, either way I think it has something to do with it. -

A lot of us keep looking for the tie with Morganton WV, a lot of little things, a few steel plants, moonshine, but a lot of overlooking about it's big claim to fame. Never repeated anywhere the Morganton Personal Rapid Transit System is rather unique http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morgantown_Pe...l_Rapid_Transit I think it holds the clues. Especially in the way the system operates.
