^Scooby Doo still has the rotating platform. As for KCKC, I remember it well. I rode it every time I went to the park. All of the above is correct. Here's the ride from start to finish: You start in the loading station and get into an assigned "log." Then you slowly rotate around until you reach the end of the station and you're on your way. You then slowly float to the lift hill, which is two long conveyor belts. I'd probably guess that it was about 80 feet tall. Once you got to the top of the hill, you went down a small (about 4 ft) drop, and then it wound around the treetops. Another part of this ride is that when you are winding around, you pass the boats in front of and behind you, so you could talk to them. Then after about a 2 minute cruise at the top, you come around the final bend. That was one of my favorite parts too, because the water would "pile up" near the drop, and the increased water level would slow the boat down, creating a lot of anticipation for the drop. Then you'd go through the switch (I don't think I ever saw them using the right side) and go down the huge drop, and go over the hydro-launch at the bottom and return to the station. KCKC was a really fun, relaxing ride. I would much rather have that than TRTR.

Didn't know we were including other parks... First Rides at other parks: Magnum Raven Raging Bull Last Rides: American Eagle Raven Power Tower MF

It's always a "little rough." Ride in a good seat and it's not nearly as jerky. As for first riders, that's what the first ride is for... to test the water. No one can look at a roller coaster and tell exactly how that ride is going to be when they're on it. Bottom Line: If you don't like it, don't ride it.

^I've been on FoF with heavy braking, light braking, and no braking, and I think I like the light braking the best. The heavy braking just kills all the momentum up to that point, and the next sequence of hills and turns is just boring. However with no trims, it's so fast and rough. Though when I rode with no trims, it still had the OTSR's. I like the light trimming in the middle on this ride. It prolongs the ride without ruining it.

^I've been in a Magnum line while the beach balls were going too. And there was a live DJ every night. That was a lot of fun.

I think the unload platform is a really good idea. It really clears up that time. Not to mention I thought it was really cool the first time I saw FoF's trains roll into the boarding platform empty.

^Wow. I'm not even going to respond to that one. Also, Dolt, a lot of people DO turn off their AC's because they consume so much power. Electric bills get high real fast. But KI would not take TRTR out because of its power consumption. I'd bet that FoF uses more power than TR. And if they were worried about utilities, installing an entire water park would not have been in their agenda. Like someone said, KI has so much land they don't know what to do with it. Ripping out rides is ridiculous. Which raises this question: WHY'D THEY TAKE THE EAGLES???

How was your first experience on the "New" Son of Beast?

Clearly you've never been out of Action Zone lolzorz.gif rofl.gif lmao.gif r00flz.gif -
It seems to me that CF could just sit back for a year or two and do some small housekeeping things in their parks, and then just make some money. Not everyone gets to make it to the parks every year, so they could market what they've already got for a few years in a row and I'm sure that their attendance wouldn't decline too much. We'll see what happens I guess.

What's a chest plate??? Wouldn't that be your rib cage?

I always thought that Kings Island didn't actually own the rides that you have to pay extra to ride. I was under the impression that an outside company put those rides into parks and they got most of the revenue for their use, but they paid KI for the land. I could be wrong though.

That's true, Interpreter. But this is Days of Thunder he's talking about. I think most people would agree that DoT is a complete waste of space. Personally, I'd like to see them take out the Action Theater and expand in the back of the park.

I miss the eagles :'( -
^^Skyhawk?! That ride is really fun, but I wouldn't say that it's scary. At CP I'd say that either TTD, MF, or Power Tower are the scariest. Probably TTD. Looking straight up that hill is probably the most intimidating sight I've ever seen on a ride. Though I've been on it 14 times now

I've been on Mantis at CP and I think it's a great ride, personally. The first 3 inversions are all incredible. I'm not sure why KI has kept King Cobra's parts for so long. Either they are trying to sell it to someone, or else they just haven't gotten around to scrapping it. I wish they would put it back together. Even if it was a mechanical nightmare, I loved KC!

The old trains were really heavy so that they would make it through the loop. However the weight of the trains was too much for the wooden structure over time, and last year there were riders on one train that were sent to the hospital because some of the wood was splintering and starting to fail. After that accident they shut down the ride indefinitely and eventually decided to remove the loop and invest in lighter trains.

^what does that even mean? Speak English. I think what you're trying to say is "Did they do well in the safety category? Because they have had some problems." If that's what you mean, then I totally agree. I'm very surprised that rider safety ratings were high with the horrific event that took place in KY.
-
I wish KI still had King Cobra tees and sold them for less. I'd buy a lot of them.
-
Here we go with the stand-ups again. Though I am an avid fan of stand-up coasters, I don't see anyone investing in them for a long time. I always thought an inverted stand-up would be really crazy... with just a small platform for your feet.
-
That's a good point. Staffing does really become an issue in the fall with schools back in session. Though it seems like there would be people willing to volunteer to work a concert up at KI. There's only one reason that I'll be going to the park in October though. I hope the creepers really scare me.
-
I'm getting some really strange calls lately too. Some creep keeps asking if I want AT&T long distance. I don't know who it is, but they're really starting to scare me with some of their offers...

^Wow that's pretty impressive. I'll look forward to the FearFest press release.
