Just a note about the satellite pictures... Did you notice that this picture is WAY out of date? This photo shows Water Works before it was Boomerang Bay, and the Eagles are still there!

Can someone answer my question about what goes on during auditions? Do you just perform on a stage as to how you would scare someone?

don't forget Vortex! almost always a short line and a great ride. Here's what I would do... start back by The Beast because everyone goes to Action Zone first. Then go backward around the park, hitting Italian Job and Vortex. That should probably only take a little over 1 hour I think. Then if you're wanting to hit Firehawk, do it, but be ready for at least an hour wait. Flight of Fear will also be kind of long. Then hit up Racer. That should be really short. Then you can make your way to Action Zone. You should be able to do pretty much everything you want. If you don't want to ride some of the rides in AZ, you can go to Nickelodeon Universe and ride Scooby Doo's Haunted Mansion. It's actually pretty pleasant. The Avatar coaster is surprisingly fun too.

^I could be wrong, but it seems highly unlikely that KI ever housed workers in UC's dorms. UC is on a quarter system, so a lot of kids take summer classes there, not to mention freshman orientation, etc. Cedar Point is able to do it well because of the location of the dorms, and quite simply because they own them. I think it's a really good idea... they get workers from around the globe by allowing residence for the summer. I think other parks in a suburban area could really benefit from something like this by getting a much more well-rounded staff. Though its difficult to say, because in a larger city, there are plenty of people wanting to work at an amusement park, unlike in a small town like Sandusky.

I don't think Dragster fits in Kings Island's atmosphere. It seems too extravagant. But for the record, it may be short, but it really is a phenomenal ride and well worth a decent wait in my opinion.

I think a dive coaster would work really well at KI. The only ones in America are on the east coast. I think that if the midwest got one it would really draw a LOT of people to the park. Though I don't see KI spending big money on a ride again for a few years at least.

Wow sweet #1 kids area in the world wahoo! Now I absolutely MUST get to KI again.

^yep. I was right. Catastrophic explosion.
-
That's pretty elaborate... and there's no way that's going to happen... but I wish it would

What exactly do you do to audition for Fear Fest? I always wondered about that... Do you just try to scare the judges or something?
-
uh oh.. I sense a catastrophic explosion in the VERY near future regarding that last part.

^haha yeah I think we've all wanted to do that at least once. I guess they'll have to start making people carry lose items onto drop zone, too............. *end sarcasm* Seriously that's ridiculous. There's no reason not to let people put belongings into the bins. KI isn't responsible for anything that's lost or stolen, and (to my knowledge) they're 100% safe. The only disadvantage is that the bins slow down the dispatch time for the trains.

^Shucks. KI could totally make that area really nice. It's such a neat spot, between the two racer turns. Especially looking back at the part where Racer divides. KI could really revamp the area and make it one of the nicest parts of the park... not some crummy theater with ugly queues.

Halloween is easily my favorite holiday of the year. Scary stuff is awesome!

Hooray Drop Zone! Definitely one of the best rides in the park

I got stuck on Millennium force for 40 minutes once near the top, and it was about 95 degrees and sunny that day. Needless to say I was mega sunburned. Owee. But they gave us free coupons to get to the front of any line in the park except TTD, so I did Millennium Force again It's #1 for a reason

When PKI tore down KC, it was one of the saddest things I've seen. KC was my first stand-up coaster, first looping coaster, and one of my favorite rides. The airtime on the camelback after the loop was incredible! I'll never forget the Cobra.

Bush Gardens Europe or Kings Dominion.
Dvo replied to DropZone99's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I actually went to both parks in 2003 for my HS Senior spring break. Kings Dominion was a lot of fun, especially Hypersonic XLC. But BGE blew it out of the water. And that's before Griffon even existed. Apollo's Chariot is easily one of the best hyper coasters out there, and Alpengeist is just flat out intense. Not to mention the absolutely gorgeous scenery. It's a fantastic park, nothing less. BGE all the way. -
I think Maverick was a big improvement for Cedar Point. The Frontier trail really improved with its installment. You really feel like you're in a western back there now. But I agree, the rest of CP is mostly a concrete paradise. However the lake really does make the park beautiful, especially from the top of the tall rides Disaster Transport, as you said, is a joke. They've tried to re-theme (and when I say re-theme I really just mean change the lighting in different parts) of DT for about 5-6 years, and each time it got progressively worse. Now they basically just leave the lights off so most of the ride is in complete darkness. I guess it's a nice ride to go on with a date....... I guess we can only hope that Maverick inspired the head honchos at Cedar Fair to make well-themed rides for their parks.

just looked at the web cam and it looks like they're lifting the gondola

How much smoother is it now than before? I was one of the first riders on SOB... I rode it on the gold pass preview night in 2000, and back then it wasn't TOO bad... but the years that followed, I was too tall and it was the most painful ride I've ever been on. If it's a lot smoother now, I might give it a shot next time I go. But if not, forget that pile of crap.

Mom charged in fight at Disney World
Dvo replied to Browntggrr's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
This article is hilarious... I can totally see some butch southern woman going crazy on some poor woman. It's definitely a bad situation to be in, and I feel bad for the woman who got injured. But it's so ironic that this happened on the TEACUP ride in FANTASY LAND, at WALT DISNEY WORLD! Of all the places in the world for a fight to break out, I'd say that's one of the last places I'd think of. It's the happiest ride, in the happiest section of the happiest park. Women, I tell ya....
