Tell me more

Yeah, I have thought that too... But according to ACE's website, PREVIOUS ACE COASTER CLASSICS The following coasters were awarded ACE Coaster Classic plaques, but subsequent equipment, design, or operating procedures changes have made the coaster ineligible for ACE Coaster Classic status: * Beastie. Paramount's Kings Island, Kings Mills, OH USA

Landscaping on Maverick

'Nuff sed -
Did you get to ride both sides?

Speaking of sounds, I love the song Disney has at EPCOT. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? You can usually hear it in Future World around the gardens / green area going to World Showcase. It makes me wish KI would have their own theme music for the entrance / International Street (I love the random classic rock songs played around the park along with the techno at IJST).

Ah! The attack of the double posts
-
That sounds very very shady. What ride doesn't work correctly with all the seats full? Isn't that how they test it before the grand opening?
-
That's pretty unreal. Was Beastie ever an ACE Coaster Classic? I thought it was but had it taken away because they added seatbelts or something like that. Has anyone seen the placement of the landmark plaque for The Racer or are there any pictures? I know The Beast is before the entrance in the landscaping. I'm guessing at the bottom it says, "During The Racer's Thirty-fifth Anniversary Season" like it says the 25th on The Beast's.

How about I'm jealous. Too bad you didn't get on Montu, it looks pretty sweet and awesomely themed. Why can't KI's coasters be themed more like Busch Gardens'?

Don't forget the swampy mess too! Mmmmm.... delicious themeing goodness.

Landscaping on Maverick
welchce replied to Browntggrr's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It's funny to see that a thread about how sweet Maverick looks has turned into talking about burger joints when we all know that In-N-Out is the best (and still exists). -
I realized they were going to call it that, hence why I suggested it. I still think it's a sweet name even though it's "a female spirit whose wail was said to foretell a death in the family." You probably shouldn't be thinking about death while on a roller coaster...

www.screamscape.com also has this interesting tidbit about Canada's Wonderland... 2008 - New B&M Coaster - Semi-Confirmed - (6/15/07) Screamscape sources have confirmed that the park has plans to build a new coaster for 2008. The station will be located across from the Italian Job station and if the rumors are right, this will be a B&M coaster standing approximately 200 feet tall. While this could be a Hypercoaster, I’ve also heard that the layout appeared to be on the short and simple side, which could also be an indicator that it may be a Dive Machine instead.

Has anyone used their Maxx Pass for Gold benefits yet?
welchce replied to Young Gunz's topic in Kings Island
O, I just assumed they would be all the same. But there's still no difference between the pre-Gold Pass and post-Gold Pass Maxx Passes, right? -

I've pondered this too and as far as I know, they can't tell unless they scan them because they're not gonna change the color of the Maxx Pass since that'd confuse workers at other parks. So you'll probably be able to use your Maxx Pass purchased whenever at KI as good as a Gold Pass for all the deals. -
What would you do if Boomerang Bay became a seperate admission?
welchce replied to Young Gunz's topic in KI Polls
I voted "Get a KI or Maxx Pass but just not visit BB." I went to Boomerang Bay this year and I don't think that it's worth any extra money by itself. I mean it's very nice if you wanna cool off in the middle of the day by going to the wave pool and riding a slide or two but I don't think I'd be spending extra money to go. -

Yeah that's all I had to do. Either the guy knew what it was or I just looked like I knew what I was doing so he didn't question me. -

I've used it for AZ and Coney Mall early entry as well as Gold Pass parking and double ride Tuesday. I did some trouble using it for the deal at Wings Diner but it was the first day of the promotion and the guy said he'd make sure he'd check it out for the future. -
Name: Banshee Type: B&M Dive Machine Location: Rivertown/lake area. Features: A 90 drop into the lake to a tunnel below, inversion or two, and maybe a water brake like Griffon and SheiKra, and some good airtime in the woods behind the lake Highest Drop: 200 ft (lift hill doesn't have to be that high if it dives below the ground) Theme: Keep as many trees as possible/add more Colors: dark green, black

And KI does have some unused land. So why take out a favorite if not 100% necessary?
-
Actually according to KI's website... So as long as you have a Gold Pass you can always get into BB at 10:30 which is still a 1/2 hour after you can get to Firehawk, so no.

What does PKI need to take the next step as a theme park?
welchce replied to GADVFREAK99's topic in Rumors
The thing that caught my eye when I first started reading this thread was it's name, "What does PKI need to take the next step as a THEME park?" While I have just scanned most of the responses a lot have had to deal with many things that would make KI a better amusement park or thrill park but not necessarily a theme park. As was stated earlier... ... not alot of KI goes with itself anymore. IMO, the best "themed" rides (outside of Nick Universe) are in the most random spots (TR:TR in Rivertown, IJ:ST in Coney Mall, FoF in Coney Mall, Scooby-Doo on International Street). I have been wondering for a while how Action can be a theme unless the rest of the park had little to no action going on. So in conclusion, for KI to "take the next step as a theme park" they need to try to bring centralized themes back to specific areas of the park.
