because people still pay to ride it which means more money for a company swimming in debt.

Personally I feel that SOB needs tunnels before it can ever truly claim to be the actual Son of Beast. I felt this way even before they took the loop out and I think that it especially needs them now that the loop is gone.

Holiday World's Bakuli
padfoot714 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
This ride doesn't look as fun as the "funnel" slides. -
There definitely needs to be something done with the far end of Coney Mall. That area is dead except for The Vortex.
-
I'm 6'4" and 200lbs and I fit in all the coasters. My brother is 6'7" and 180 and he fits in everything as well.
-
Retheme TR:TR as a mineshaft to fit better with Rivertown. Get rid of the Wild Thornberrys theming and return that ride to Rivertown. Add a new ride across from the log flume and possibly over the lake. In Coney Mall all that needs to be done is to add some flat rides across from The Vortex where the old laser tag building and those stupid trampolines are.

I assure you, if that ride were dangerous, it wouldn't be open. Do you really think they'll move water rides from Geauga to Kings Island? I can actually see them keeping the waterpark at Geauga Lake. I know several people who refuse to ride it anymore because of head injuries they received while riding. Also, when people get off the ride they are also pulling their suits out of their butts and they all walk away funny. Trust me, Bondi is the worst and most injury prone slide in the park. As for moving GL slide tower, I highly doubt that will happen. I was merely suggesting that KI should get one that is similar to GL's.
-
That area has been clear for at least several years.
-
A 7-slide tower would be a great replacement for Bondi Pipeline. That thing is dangerous and painful. I've been to the tower at GL and it is a lot of fun. I'd love to see KI get something like that.

I will be at Universal Hollywood on New Year's Eve and I was wondering if anyone else on the forum had ever been there before. I know its a long way off but I like to plan early
-
No. Its not worth it. Even if it was true I wouldn't be that excited. There are many flat rides I'd love to see KI get before we ever got a coaster like TTD. Its just to darn short.

When I was at the park Monday with my friends from St. Louis I rode SOB twice and on the second ride the guy on the loudspeakers said that there were no negative G's on the ride so it was now safe to carry on loose articles. That didn't make any sense to me because regardless of G-forces the ride is so rough that it is still near impossible to maintain any sort of grip on anything other than the handle bars. Things could fly out of the car at any second. I was actually really ticked the first time we rode because my friend had just bought a bunch of discounted paramount Beast glasses right before we rode because I told him he could leave them at the station. Fortunately none of his glasses were broken but we were still really ****ed off. It was especially irking because they had the bins sitting right there in the station.

My advice on riding Maverick is to get to the park at 8:45am and park your car around back by Soak City. They'll open the gate back by Magnum at 9am and then everyone will sprint to Maverick. This is the only way to avoid waiting over an hour for this ride. Also, stick to the back of the park during the early part of the day and then move towards the front at the end. Here's my top ten list of rides (including flats). 1. Maverick 2. Millennium Force 3. Skyhawk 4. Raptor 5. Wicked Twister 6. Magnum 7. Top Thrill Dragster 8. Power Tower 9. Demon Drop 10. Maxair

I agree. I think We might see TR:TR rethemed to better reflect its surroundings. Perhaps an abandoned mine shaft or something. I'm hoping for a complete River Town revitalization. Hopefully something cool can be done with the empty buildings across from the Wild Thornberries. I highly doubt we'll be seeing any coasters or really expensive rides though. CF is in major debt and we just got a new coaster this year. It just seems improbable that we'll get a major new ride under those conditions.
-
For me, anything that would restore some of the old River Town atmosphere would be great. A roller coaster would rock but personally, I'd like to see TR:TR rethemed as an abandoned mine shaft. The whole hidden Asian temple thing just doesn't fit in that area of the park.

Drive to the back of the park so that you can park your car near Maverick. Ride that first if you plan on getting there when the park opens. MForce amd Skyhawk shouldn't be too crowded at that time either. Stay away from Raptor until later in the day otherwise you'll probably have a 2 hour wait.
-
I don't think KI will be getting ANY coasters in the next two years. We'll likely see some BB expansions and maybe a flat ride or two. I doubt there will be any new coasters until the 2010 season at the earliest.
-
I hope it is re-opened in time for my friends when they come next weekend. They are driving all the way from St. Louis!
-
I think a lot of it has to do with the waterpark expansion. It is ALWAYS crowded over there. It only take about an hour for the waterpark to fill up every day.

Are both sides of the station on Firehawk operating yet?
padfoot714 replied to notredame0608's topic in Kings Island
When I was there last weekend they were having some minor issues late in the day but both stations remained opened. They ran a few empty trains and sometimes one side would go twice in a row. The left side of the station appeared to be working more efficiently. -
Hotel suggestions and places to eat in the park
padfoot714 replied to JessicaC's topic in Kings Island
There are several Cincinnati based food locations throughout the park if you want to get some authentic Cincy food. Skyline Chili offers Hot Dogs with Cincinnati style chili and shredded cheese, LaRosa's pizza is a Cincinnati based pizza chain, Montgomery Inn barbecue is served at Wing Diner, and Graeter's Ice Cream is probably the greatest homemade ice cream you could ever have. There is also a Subway and a Starbucks in the park and a Panda Express in the Festhaus. Potato Works is a great place to get steak cut french fries. The park also offers typical fast food fare at various locations. Personally, I would recommend leaving the park to eat especially if you just want fast food. You can get your hand stamped when you leave to indicate you have already paid for admission. There is an Arby's, Burger King, Wendy's, McDonald's, Big Boy and a Skyline all at the Kings Mills/OH-741 exit off of I-71. These are all within 5 minutes of the park. There are also some sit-down family restaurants in the same area. The only drawback to this plan is that you will have to pay for parking again which is $10 so I'm not sure if this saves you money or not. Since I have a parking pass I don't have to worry about these things. -
I think I would have preferred red or yelow prior to riding it yesterday but after I saw it in action and in the station I decided I like the blue.

How was your first experience on the "New" Son of Beast?
padfoot714 replied to Delirium33's topic in KI Polls
I though SOB was much improved due to the new trains. The ride is smoother and its actually something I'll probably want to ride evertime I go now. Before the new trains I couldn't stand it. It was far to rough and I always came off with sore knees and thighs mostly due to trying to cram my 6'4" 200lb body into those tiny cars. I will say that the removal of the loop makes the ride feel incomplete in some ways. It just feels like it is lacking something. I think that if they built tunnels this problem would be easily solved though. I'd especially like a tunnel at the bottom of the first drop and at where the loop used to be. -
I rode all three of the woodies yesterday and I would have to say that Racer actually gave the roughest ride much to my surprise. The new SOB is really great! I can actually enjoy riding it now! They really need to build some tunels though to make up for the loss of the loop. It would make the ride much more thrilling.

Well X-base is probably going to be its own area in the near future rather than being part of Coney.
