  1. Unbelievable. From the dino webcam, it looks like they have been using an elevator lift all around WindSeeker today. It's possible they are installing these right now at KI.
  2. Saw on the webcam today that they took off some of the WindSeeker seats and then re-attached them. They have water dummies loaded on the inside of each of the cars, but I have yet to see them do a cycle.
  3. Do you think they will move the Dinosaurs Alive camera again? I kinda feel like we are looking at...well, nothing. Then again, I'm not really sure what we should be trying to see from an attraction like that. Personally, I preferred the close up WindSeeker cam. I thought there was a good possibility that you might see someone puking at some point this summer.
  4. Thanks for the replies. I agree that it does appear on the bottom toolbar. I just find it weird that on other browsers it appears in the top right as well.
  5. I'm not sure how everyone else reads the forums, but I make heavy use of the 'View New Content' and 'Mark this forum as read' buttons. I did notice that when using Google Chrome, the 'Mark all as read' button doesn't seem to be there. Anyone else notice this? Or is it just me?
  6. This is so true. I just wonder if KI isn't "blind" as well about what to do. Considering what it took to build and get the ride open, then to later have to make the decision to use new trains and demolish the signature element, they have had a lot of tough decisions to make. I can only imagine that they would be second guessing any approach to "fix it" considering past events. I think the Gravity Group vs. B&M comparison is a little different. GG and B&M would have both loved to build rides at KI many years ago, but this situation concerns the fixing of a ride which happens to be GG's specialty. Although everything is speculation on our part, I have to believe that GG (and probably Intamin) submitted some sort of recommedations/proposals. It seems only probable that KI would reach out to any and all wood coaster manufacturers to submit a plan. We probably won't ever know what most of those plans were. To be clear, I sympathize with the park's situation. The fact that it is still standing indicates that they trying to save it if possible. But at this point, the ride it reminds me the most of is Drachen Fire.
  7. Oh I think they would be interested. Remember that KI received several bids/plans for possible ideas of what to do with Son of Beast. To our knowledge, all of them were rejected. Gravity Group is based out of Cincinnati, so I'm sure there is some level of interest in being involved. I'm no ride engineer, but I would guess that many issues would be reduced if you could just reprofile the first half of the ride. KI probably doesn't want to do that though. Of course that what started the whole mess, KI not budging on their requirement to have a loop.
  8. I really think this is the beginning of the end for the Action Theater. There was no avoiding it anyway. Both IMAX and motion movies cost a lot of money to license. I doubt they would be charging $2 if it were cheap to get the Dinosaurs movie. The problem is, none of these movies draw enough people. Cedar Point did away with their IMAX a decade ago because there wasn't enough good selection of movies and the movies that there were did not draw enough of a crowd. KI is simply trying to put something in the theater that is relevant and might draw people. I guess they thought a $2 cost for a related movie was better than anything else. Either way, I don't think it or any other movie will justify keeping the attraction open for long. It's a no win situation. Pay for a license -> No one watches the movie -> Monetary loss
  9. I'm not at all surprised about this. In fact, I would be surprised if all them don't skip the helicopter scene within the next 3-5 years.
  10. I believe the Paramount parks all added metal detectors in 2002. The Cedar Fair parks prior to the Paramount merger never had them installed. Obviously, CF decided that they might as well use them since they are already installed. I've never had the impression that they use them with great scrutiny.
  11. So, are there threads that are being deleted for some reason? I was reading this thread: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23720&pid=426703&st=30entry426703 ...and then poof it was gone. Couldn't find it anywhere. What happened?
  12. I'd also like to chime in and say thank you for this thread. I was a bit sad that the 5@5 did not return this year as KI said that it would. However, this thread really served as a replacement. I really hope folks at the park have discovered this thread and checked it daily. It would be pretty amazing if they decided to do something like it themselves. I can only imagine that they must have a whole lot of photos stored somewhere. It would be easier than answering questions daily to just post another photo each day.
  13. Is the top observation deck on the Eiffel Tower open on top? Or does it have a roof?
  14. Yeah the Tomb Raider pic looks like a "how to put it together" model for the construction crew.
  15. I've always been sad that I never got the chance to ride Flight Commander. I missed it by maybe 2 years...or about 3 inches.
  16. Haha, it should say "Present this for one head-bangin ride on Flight of Fear."
  17. KC had a great color scheme. Wish they would reuse it. Don't seem to be many green coasters these days.
  18. Someone please explain what the chants meant? Was there some sort of sponsorship?
  19. Doesn't coast. Not a coaster.
  20. Ah 1999. The debut of the McDonald's themed coaster.
  21. I'll take King Cobra over Delirium.
  22. Ah yes, the witch's caldrons...the most misplaced ride ever.
  23. I loved the kids whip ride. What was its name?
  24. You're right, but what I was saying is that there tends to me more negative feedback in the era of the internet then ever before. BBW certainly had some online petitions. Unhappy folks can create much more negative publicity and become better organized than ever before. In reality though, I think the much more expanded park season (basically until November) means that many rides cannot be constructed in just the November-March time frame. Hence, rides like Diamondback have a year where they are simply fenced off. Many ride closing announcements are saved until August/September as well, to cut down on the time.
  25. Poor Demon, the sign should have just said 'Condemned'. Maybe that's why they take down the previous ride before building another. Can you imagine the uproar if you knew a year in advance that your favorite ride was being removed? In today's world there would be an internet craze. ...and that banana splits clip was so bad it was good.
