  1. I heard they were going to leave the Eiffel Tower in place and put TTD's tophat over the top of it. Some sort of expensive architecture will be used to utilize the Eiffel Tower as a support.
  2. So, let's see...it was down for about a month total, correct?
  3. I agree. It seemed to me that for looping rides, the policy was not loose articles that were not attached to you in some way. Other rides were a bit more lenient, although most new rides don't allow anything either. Maybe they haven't had time to revise the policy for the new SOB? I can't imagine another reason they would be so flipped out over what to do with the loose articles.
  4. What a shame about side B. Location certainly doesn't help the theatre attract more riders. I know that there are loads of movies for these things out there though, especially since theatres like this are popular in Europe. I can't imagine it would be that hard to acquire some.
  5. Heh, we only get a dive coaster if Anheuser Busch steps up and buys the parks.
  6. I think 10 minutes. Atleast, it used to be.
  7. I think we overstate the importance of the ride. It's been around for 6 years now. It's hardly new. Of course, I have no numbers for its ridership, but I'd be very surprised if it broke the top 10 for the park. A drop in the priority chain of reasons to keep it looking great instead of just average. People have mentioned Disaster Transport at Cedar Point. The comparison is striking. Years ago, the theming on DT fell into disrepair. Slowly, it was removed. First the queue effects, then some of the ride effects, then it was all dark, then they added some fluorescent paint, etc. Why did CP not invest more money into the ride? Because it ceased to be a thrill ride. People were no longer riding DT for excitement (some might argue they never did!). Instead, it's gimmicks are: an indoor coaster with an air-conditioned queue that you only need to be 46" tall to ride. That means people ride it to get out of the heat for a bit, for something different (indoors), and lots of kids ride because it is tame and they are tall enough. Not sufficient reasons for CP to make a major investment! Just keeping it running is enough to satify all 3 of those marketing reasons. Looking at TR:TR, it is a unique dark ride that hangs you upside down. That is what the public sees. Soon, I think people who want to get out of the sun for minute or hang upside down will be the majority crowd which ride it, similar to DT. If the ride has thus lost its marketing appeal, KI will not put major funding into an "attempt" to restore it. Instead they will build something else new. I'm not trying to be negative. I want to see the return of TR:TR like all of you. This is just how I see the cards being dealt at the moment.
  8. I'd say a flat, if anything. Maybe a kiddie flat? I'd maybe guess a new coaster for '09. You all are probably right in guessing the changes during the offseason. I can see TR:TR being "simplified" rather than made over though.
  9. That's good to hear. If any ride should open early for ERT, it should be Firehawk.
  10. Absolutely reliable is really funny. It is truly sarcasm at its best.
  11. The new additions since 2001 are: Tomb Raider (not worth riding anymore, has fallen into disrepair) *Delerium (really fun big spinning ride, not too nauseous though) *Scooby-Doo Dark Ride (indoor ride with gun zappers, might be fun, beware long lines) Sponge-Bob 3-D Movie (moving chairs movie, so-so) Boomerang Bay (new waterpark, probably don't have time) *Italian Job (unique family coaster with some special effects, fun) Nick Universe (big area for kids, N/A except for Avatar ride) *Firehawk (flying coaster, somewhat intense) No single rider lines unfortunately. However, some rides (especially Firehawk) do a good job of asking for single riders to fill in empty seats.
  12. Honestly though, think of what the general public sees, instead of what we enthusiasts see. Those are the features which they will upkeep. That means I would expect the lava to shoot up, the lighting to work on both the lava and ice, some of the main goddess lighting to work, and some music to play (w/o voice over). I would expect the house lights coming on during the ride to be a temp. problem. Other than that, kiss it goodbye. The pre-show, the fog, extra lighting on the goddess, dripping ice, etc. Also remember that the ride has always had balancing issues, so don't expect it to be fully loaded, ever. If they could simplify the ride cycle easily, they would/will. And that's about it. Have fun riding GP, I'll be on something else. Heck, when I was there just a week ago, foliage was almost covering up the bottom half of the sign. Let's just forget it's even there...
  13. A lot. Not as much as a brand new ride, but a lot. You have the cost of taking it apart, the cost of transporting it, land clearing costs, rebuilding costs, assembly cost, paint costs, etc. It was a good deal for KI for what they got. Dominator isn't going anywhere though. It's easily the best and most popular ride at GL. Plus, it's built partially over the lake, making it a hassle to take out. It's also a lot bigger than X-flight, I mean Firehawk. No, I wouldn't expect any other rides to leave GL unless something drastic happens. Well, maybe they could just tear down Wolf Kabobs.
  14. This was quoted by someone I know on 6/25. Maybe they have continued to have problems?
  15. There is also a much better waterpark now.
  16. Nice TR. 7 rides in 3.5 hours is a pretty good haul.

If you read this thread it covers most of what is known about KC's location.
  18. Hopefully this week. I'm hoping it has something to do with the good relationship with Don Helbig, but I could be wrong. It may not be of direct relation to the park itself. If not, it could be some sort of web merger, but I'm not sure what the details of something like that would be. I wouldn't expect to see a merge with another KI site or anything.
  19. I confront them first, then I would take it to an Op only if it was a major offense. Just saying something makes a difference though. They might get mad, but they are less likely to try it again if they know people notice and they might get caught. Personally, I would love to see a heck of a lot more people get tossed out of line (and out of the park!)
  20. Other. $2.00 pop machines. And Pepsi products!
  21. I don't think there are any left in operation. Maybe in Japan? ;0 KI dismantled theirs during the offseason after the "incident" which would be 1991.
  22. thomas, That wasn't very informative. What kind of coupon? A customer form where? How does that help to find cheap tickets for others?
  23. Umm, I'm going to say 3. I've ridden The Racer 3 times in one day. How's that?
  24. I would agree that it will take time to judge the new status for SOB. The problem with wood coasters is that the track plays such an integral role in the ride. With steel coasters, the wheels and weather conditions are the main two factors which determine how "smooth" a coaster runs. Woodies have changing track status and lots of it (especially on SOB). In the end, it is just a wooden coaster like Beast or Racer. I've had great rides on Beast. I've also had rides on Beast which beat me to death. Woodies are complex creatures!
  25. Demon Drop's height and overall worth probably make it suitable to go to a smaller type park. I wouldn't describe any park in the CF chain as that type of park. Also, CP has never needed to remove rides for "space." Most rides being removed for new construction are either lagging in overall usefulness and ridership, or have maintenance issues. This is shown by the relocation of rides like Calypso, Troika, Giant Wheel, Chaos, Super Himalaya, and others. If they had no room, how could they relocate those rides to other open areas?
