Knotts Berry Farm Theming?
upstop replied to fanofFirehawk's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Cedar Fair was responsible for ripping out most of the theming and crowding the park with attractions. All quaintness was basically stomped down to make the park a teeny tiny little Cedar Point west. -
Kind of like a hog callin' , Su Su su piggy piggy piggy weeeee.....

the haunt website is top notch.... hope the haunts are too.

I think these incidents are why Busch Gardens in Tampa is redesigning a lot of their habitats. They had a lion exhibit in a pit at one time, but that has been changed to one where visitors can look through glass at the animals face to face. It's more exciting for the kids and much safer. Here is a lion exhibit.

another piece at the base of the drop is up.....flying right along....

It could work if there were an all year round venue on site that is open to "members" only...where they could associate with other members during their visit...on and off season. Kind of like a bunnyless Playboy club or a Sports Bar/Restaurant....with maybe even a discount shop where "members" could get discounted merchandise year round. It could maybe be built to the right of the main plaza with an inside the park and outside the park access. (think big or go home...lol)

Seeing that they are working on the bottom of the drop, I'm wondering if they will run from there through the dive loop and back to the lift loop so they can still use Clifford. If that's the case I'd think they'd leave the top of the loop off to make the lift track installation easier. After that its finish the lift, top off the loop and start working their way towards the back end of the ride. I think you are right....we may see that the first two to three elements completed before the end of the season, at the pace they are moving now...

I'm guessing that the lift hill is as high as it's going to go until the loop around it is finished.

At one time the reptile house at the Cincinnati zoo had alligators in an open pit with a railing (haven't been there in a while so I'm not sure if it is still there.). A lady was holding her baby and standing with the child sitting on the railing. I was with someone and the two of us struck up a conversation about alligators and how they jump up to snap on raw chicken carcasses at an exhibit in Florida, and how that child was a little bit bigger than a chicken. Got a rather dirty look, so, and since she wasn't getting the hint, we told an attendant and moved on...there is only so much you can do short of grabbing the child away from someone.

^^or pay cash for your next pass, at the seasons pass window.

I'd buy in if they had membership only days & months before and after the season.... and if membership included all parks, and permanent Fastlane at all parks. Also if they had a members only club house that is open year round, that might be a perk. Maybe since you would be paying "dues", they could throw in complimentary foods and drinks throughout the season to members. Naw....ain't gonna happen.

During circle dance at the end, I only recognized Lambsy-pie ( I think). Weren't two of them Banana Splits characters? and I didn't recognize the sheep dog to name him.

As long as it's not laser beams in an empty room, I think I'll like it.

and apparently she dated her guests...heck she dated everyone except Laurie, Tracy and Shirley....(as far as we know.... )

I wonder if KI would benefit by inviting enthusiasts and roller coaster clubs to participate in voluntary cleanup days, in exchange for freebies. I'm pretty sure they would get lots of volunteers to paint, rake leaves and spruce up the park, maybe for a free pizza lunch or maybe a couple of hours ride time on one of the coasters.

http://cincinnati.com/blogs/ourhistory/2012/01/23/kings-island-skyride-failure-stranded-27/ But was that the actual reason it was removed? Did it ever reopen after that incident? I think it operated afterwards, but I think it had a lot to do with it being removed, since there were no rescue vehicles at that time that could reach it in an emergency.

I'd forgotten about Charles Jacques' book "Cincinnati's Coney Island: America's Finest Amusement Park". This book has many interesting details about the park. Paul IIyinsky's book "Goodbye Coney Island Goodbye" is more pictorial and has more park closure pictures. I remember going to Sunlight Pool waaaaay back when and walking through the ruins (mostly ghost ruins of ride foundations, no buildings. The haunted house with it's greased stained floor was there for several years after the park closed. I actually walked the old path in the haunted house a couple of times during 4th of July fireworks events at the park...along with the old Merry-go-round building. ( as an side note, if you ever venture to the park now, there is an enormous tree along the path at the back o the park. I believe it is several trees that have merged into one tree and it is twisted and gnarled and huge....Check it out if you are ever there. It is definitely a sight to see in nature.)

^^ Season's pass sales booth is a good place to start...or online....

It surprises me that it was "allowed" to happen....do you think maybe Bonaduce did it to be seen on camera since Mary Ann (obviously taller) was sitting in front of him? Or do you think he was just skirting the rules and being Danny?....

Retrofit Drop Tower with the larger version (see KD version) and add the preloading areas with the color coding like KDominion's version....hardly ever a line on that attraction.

What would you think if kings island was not owned by Cedar Fair.
upstop replied to CP&LERR Fan's topic in Kings Island
I had a dream once while Paramount owned the park, that in the bend in Rivertown, under where the drop to Diamondback is located now an attraction based on Tales From the Crypt would be located. I thought the design would be very similar to Extraterrorestrial Alien encounter (gotta say I loved that ride....watch the video in the Phantom Theater POV thread) only it would be related to a television episode of TFTC, with the Cryptkeeper as the preshow... Could still be done without the Paramount theme in a certain Crypt across the way..... -
I could tell you, but your ears might burn.

Also look at how pristine the park looks from different angles. I think CF is attempting to bring some of that back to the park....I certainly hope they do, or at least try to clean up some of the landscaping. (they are certainly cleaning out trees with the Starlight Spectacular - snark intended...lol)
