  1. While I'm not quite as old as you Terpy, I recall the days when there was a shoot em up cowboys v indians show in Frontierland in Disney World
  2. Wolfgang Pucks in the West End has a nice menu with lots of good price points. There is an upstairs dining room there that is more formal. If you like Cuban food, Bongos is there as well. Otherwise, Planet Hollywood and House of Blues are options as well. Your best bet is to go to the Disney World home page, click on DTN and search for places that look good. Most have their menus posted so you can see theofferings and prices beforehand.
  3. Just be patient if you're riding the Disney busses. On peak days, be prepared to wait about 30-45 for the bus to your resort of choice. After midnight, the Downtown Disney Marketplace hub closes and you must go over to the West End to transfer until 2 AM. the TTC basically resembles a ghost town about an hr after the Magic Kingdom closes.
  4. A word of advice about the Disney bus system if you're travelling between resorts. You cannot take a Disney bus from one resort to another. You must transfer at either the Transportation and Ticket Center next to the Polynesian, or at Downtown Disney (either Marketplace or West End sides) to get to your resort of choice. Pleasure Island (inbetween the Marketplace and West End) is nothing right now so don't waste your time. The West End is mainly restaurants and is anchored by Cirque Du Soleil.
  5. I rode Jaws when I was there this past October. I have to say, judging by the tenor and attitude of the ride ops, it's time was way past due. (oh look. watch out. a shark. i better sort of make an effort to pull out this pistol and shoot it.). Once Bruce came out of the water, it looked as though he were suffering a seizure. The parks weren't busy the day I went (rode Potter sev times with as little as ten min wait), but Jaws was a walk-on and the ride ops were growing cobwebs under their eyes waiting for people to ride. The park has to stay current, so I'm all for a Potter expansion if that's what goes in that area.
  6. I'm getting ready to head to Orlando for a long weekend and plan on hitting the parks. I recall being at DL some years ago with the knowledge that some fastpass machines were stand-alone; that is you could have a pass for it without influencing a pass you had on one of the other 'networked' machines. Does anyone have any knowledge of such machines at WDW and if so what attractions have them? thanks.

    GLEE

Thought you would like that . The context of teh mention was that Sue Sylvester (coach of the cheerleading squad and 'villian' of the show), had made a video of her doing jazzercise routines to the song Physical. The Glee kids got a hold of the video and put it on youtube, where ONJ eventually saw it. She called Sue and said she was doing a ribbon cutting in the area and would be at Kings Island the next day for a save the rainforest function and would she be interested in meeting her to remake the Physical video? It was pretty funny!
  8. and as a side note, that catchy song was brought back as part of the 'Funtastic World of Hanna Barbara' that played in the B side of Action Theatre a couple of seasons ago. That movie was an import from Universal Studios, where it ran previously.
  9. and even then they feel the need to push the envelope of taste a bit too far.
  10. well the park owns lots of fog machines as evidenced by HH..not sure how much fog juice costs, even in bulk, but im guessing that they only budget enough for the month of october..as has been said, a lot of theming on rides is long gone..crypt, AE, water after the final drop on BLSC..and even the fog elements on FD that were once in the line. I'd rather KI's budget for installations next year will go towards saving SOB.
  11. States usually own all the subsurface rights too under the interstates, so if KI were to tunnel under the interstate, they would need ODOT permission..easier to stay on your own property!
  12. If CF were smart, they'd hire a good tax law firm to contest the legality of the tax. Here in Indiana, the gambling boats were orig charged a similar admissions tax (each person had to pay a 5.00 cover to get on the boat). To compensate, the boats would then hand out a free $5 gambling chip once on board. Eventually the costs to the boats got so high that a few of them hired an Indpls law firm to challenge the tax, which was eventually overturned by the courts.
  13. This doesnt qualify as favorite, but memorable..getting stung by a bee in september while at the park (over by sdathc) (first time I've been stung in over 30 years) and having Rachel (stalker) and Kat make me go to first aid after I said I'd be fine..lol!
  14. http://www.indystar.com/article/20091105/B....+coaster+build From today's IndyStar..an article about the Nat Geo channel filming an episode of 'World's Toughest Fixes' at HW later this month when they top off the Wildebeest.
  15. As I recall, it surpassed 1M rides in July, which means that the last half of the season ridership trailed off signifigantly, since I remember a post on the blog from Don saying it was on track to smash Vortex's ridership record. Now, of course, the 2nd half of summer coincides with back to school in August, so that most likely had a lot to do with ridership.
  16. Dubai, despite the slouch in oil prices, is still poised to build basically whatever it wants. They already have an indoor ski resort, an underwater hotel due to come online soon and dubailand, just to name a few. I can see Dubai building extreme coasters for the forseeable future.
  17. The park is much more interested in making Halloween Haunt the premiere fall attraction in the region. CF makes a good deal of money on it, so that's why so much time and effort goes into planning it. Winterfest was a joke, at least the new one was. The coasters aren't designed to run in very cold weather and who would want to ride a coaster when it sub freezing outside anyway?
  18. You say that, but I'd guess you'd be pretty cold when it's in the low 40s out, you're stuck 250 ft in the air with nothing under you and the wind is blowing!
  19. While at HH on Saturday, I noticed DT get stuck about 3/4 of the way up around 11:30. It was already chilly when I got to the park about 7:30 PM and it was stuck for almost 30 min before it was lowered back down to the ground. Those folks must have been cold! It was down for about 30 min and I noticed it running again about 12:30 as I was leaving the park.
  20. Ah thanks! I saw the restraints and thought Behemoth. I didn't realize that B & M had these restraints in 06 when Goliath opened.
  21. I'm putting this in here for lack of a better place..but, has anyone seen the new 'Free Credit Report.com" commercial? It features the guy on what looks like Behemoth. This makes sense because I've read the the guy playing the free credit report guy is from Canada, speaks very little english and has to basically read lips to do the commercial. The restraints are exactly like DB's except yellow.
  22. I'm guessing that the state of ohio's inspection requirements and KI's are two different things. KI's are almost certainly more stringent. To me anyway, if the park can show that not only did the ride meet state guidelines but the park's as well, with testimony to support that, I don't see how a jury will award her anything. If KI loses, though, I'd expect an appeal, depending on the dollar amount awarded.
  23. Disney does sell gum, it's just not displayed very prominently..its stashed away in the gift shops in a pretty inconspicious place. The same holds true for cigarrettes..I know they used to stock them only in a couple of places at the MK anyway and again they were kept behind the counter to prevent anyone underage from buying. Disney cleans the gum nightly off the streets with the high pressure hot water sprays, which are so powerful, you will suffer some very serious burns if you come into contact with it!
  24. Hopefully the park adds the 22nd or 29th as a rain make up date.
