How to ride Magnum XL 200
markr replied to dragsterguy21's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
My feeling is that there should not be a "how to" to ride any ride-if a ride is causing any kind of ride. If a ride is causing pain then there is a problem and the manufacturer should fix it. ( perhaps replacing lap bars so that they are not like concrete as seems to be the case on Magnum.) -
Mazel Tov to you on your recent nuptials. May you both have many years of happiness.

I haven't ridden Firehawk in some time but have always been allowed to take a fanny pack on the ride as I have always been alloed to take a fanny pack on DB. To my knowledge the only ride that does not allow fanny packs is Banshee.

Best glasses straps are the ones sold at CP.

If you go on a busy day I suggest that you go back to Diamondback after doing your Banshee early ride time. Do Diamondback, then Beast, then navigate the park in a counter-clock wise direction. The Rivertown and Coney Mall areas are usually pretty empty because everyone is at the front doing Banshee. In this way I find you can have an enjoyable day and still ride a lot of rides without the expense of a Fast Lane.

May check out FOF when its busy just to see what the real difference in the wait time is without Fast Lane. I know Fast Lane is here to stay but just curious.

Mantis at Cedar Point
markr replied to dragsterguy21's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Anyone notice anything different about this photo? This was Mantis as it was pre-2000 when the entrance was behind the train tracks from the beginning of the Frontier Trail. After Millenium Force opened in 2000 the entrance to Mantis was changed to its present location by the photo booth. Notice also the long line. Used to love Mantis especially the brief air-time after the dive loop. For the past few years, sadly, it has gotten kind of rough around the edges. I am certainly keeping my fingers crossed that they will give this coaster a bit of TLC whether as a floorless or some other style. -
Sounds just like the old creepy lady spiel from the early years of Millenium Force before they converted to live spiel.

Yesterday afternoon ( Sunday) the attendant doing the mike at The Banshee station had me in stitches with his "Thank you for riding Bineshee" schtick.

As I was driving down one of the parking aisles yesterday there was a car stopped at the end of the aisle. I am assuming that the car is going to turn but as I was approaching behind the car, suddenly the car backs up and is proceeding to back into a parking place-there was another car behind me and we both had to back up because of the thoughtless driver in the front car.

Not silly at all. I have a friend that uses a cane and the ride staff take her cane while she rides.

When I see an e-cig commercial I feel like I have stepped back in time to when I was a kid when cigarette commercials were all over the air waves. I have the feeling that e-cig commercials will also eventually be banned from television. For those of you too young here is an example of a commercial from my youth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ch6HafID4DM

I think some smokers simply wish we could go back to a more innocent time such as 1960 when smoking was basically a social norm with little or no restrictions. They do not realize that we cannot go back to that time with all that we have learned about the health consequences of smoking as well as the consequences of second hand smoke.

Well, I have been convinced. After weeks of observation I would have to agree that the no bin policy has made for awesome ride capacity at Banshee combined, of course, with the awesome staff. Still will not buy a sport quart because of it but I get it that they will continue to sell such quarts whether I buy one or not. ( The wrist band deal kind of makes up for it.) At any rate, does anyone have a crow for me to eat?

That is certainly something to think about when deciding whether to file a homeowners' claim. My parents filed one homeowner claim their entire life and the insurance company cancelled them. They did get revenge as they had their auto coverage through the same company. They instructed their agent to immediately give this company the heave ho as to their auto coverage as well.

Just an fyi everyone-check your homeowners' policy as may cover losses in such a situation, ie stolen items from lockers. Contents do not necessarily have to actually be in the home to be covered.

I think shark6495 has an excellant point. I don't have kids but I am sure that with all the scary things that can happen a leash may be not only a convenience but a necessity especially in a big crowded place.

Don't want to start a civil war here but one of my pet peeves is parents who force their child to go on rides when they are absolutely terrified. Children who are forced to go on rides when they are terrified to the point of screaming are more likely to hate than love thrill rides. When my niece was little I would always show her what a ride did before taking her on the ride. If she was too scared I would simply state "That's ok sweetie." Eventually she did ride coasters when she felt ready and she loves them. And if your child never wishes to go on such rides even after they get older-I say leave them alone. Some people hate and will always hate thrill rides. ( Not to mention that there can be serious health consequences in forcing an unwilling person on a coaster.)

Sorry Diamondbill-hope you saw my adjusted post above after I discovered my error.

Boy, you guys must be psychic because that is exactly what happened to me at CP a few days ago. ( Trip report coming soon.) I was in the second to last row on Gemini on the blue train and these girls behind me were taking selfies of themselves. I advised the girls to put their phones away but they ignored me. When I reported this incident to one of the ride attendants at the station, the attendant laughed. I advised her that this was not funny but a serious safety issue and demanded that she tell the girls this. As I was walking away I saw that the attendant was talking with the girls but I was thinking to myself she was probably still laughing off the whole situation. Therefore I did exactly what you would have done, Terpie, went to GR and demanded to speak directly with a ride supervisor. The supervisor was awesome and advised me that she would make sure that they had a serious talk with the Gemini crew. She also gave me two exit passes.

I don't see what is wrong with that. My mom used to take me to the ladies' room when I was little because she was concerned about the risk of leaving me unattended and this was 50 years ago. Ooop, just noticed you clarified yourself in previous post-sorry about that-need to make sure I read all of the follow up posts.

I was just thinking about this this morning as I was, you guessed it, driving behind a pedestrian walking in the middle of the parking lot as I drove behind them.
