That's the answer I was looking for.

Correct, I know none are clones, but designers and builders make a few designs and then will shop them around to parks with very little changes vs. a custom ride that is designed to go into a certain location.
-
Construction. Diamondback seems to be a rather cookie cutter design. Does anyone know if it was an off the shelf design or a custom design for KI? I feel like only the splashdown was a custom. Really any park with the room could have Diamondback installed really easy without hardly any leveling of land. I just don't like how much it interferes with rivertown and I agree on the pond as well. But hey Cedar Fair was having a lot of financial struggles at the time and at least we got a fun ride out of it.

Amen. I was actually very pleased with how mystic timbers came out though. Diamondback I never was huge on. It's always going to kind of be awkward in the park and stick out.

I'd love more Morgan retrofits... I'm surprised parks didn't hop on that train like they are with RMC coasters these days. Phantom's Revenge is a fun ride.
-
Yeah I knew all that about vekoma and arrows past, but I wasn't sure if there would be a legal liability should a park use a vekoma train when it wasn't originally in the design. You answered the questions since they are advertising it as a direct replacement. Vortex could greatly be improved with these. But tbh, I'm curious if they aren't seeing it as being towards end of life and wouldn't want to put the money into it.

There were posts here that some of the bars were not open during the other times. Also the bartenders are more than likely the ONLY people that are 21+ and can have that location open. You have to weigh not having any beer in the biergarten vs. having an extra cashier at the chicken shack. Something else a lot of people aren't mentioning is that a good chunk of the food locations are not staffed by KI but by outside contractors.
-
This should answer a lot of the questions.

I'd still say that KI has better guest relation capabilities than CP.

Have they used these trains on other arrow coasters? I thought all the boomerang coasters were Vekoma.

Yeah... you shouldn't expect Disney level stuff except for at Disney. That ship didn't even come close to docking when Paramount owned the park. But regardless of how some feel here it's a minority feeling. Sure certain individuals could use some training, but if someone calling a ride the wrong name at the end of a spiel is the biggest thing we have to complain about, that's just beyond nit picking.

I still would have been riding the heck out of TRTR...

Have they started testing the VR stuff on iron dragon more now?

Well all the OGs are coming out for this thread... and I'm glad. I think part of the problem could be solved by having a separate sign off for using the mic or just making sure the individual ride supervisors are being a bit more reserved with who they give it to. The reason why you guys have such a hard time with hearing it over and over again here is it's your home park and you are always here, you always hear the same jokes, the same things, and can become critical since their spieling is literally the only thing that changes about your visit other than the weather or crowds. Also for what it's worth there is evidence into not letting a job be repetitive and keeping morale up that INCREASES safety.

The problem is just that people try to do it that really don't have public speaking/social skills. There really isn't an easy way to go about telling them they can't do something and try to be part of the team. Honestly though everyone wants to complain about this the park is just going to take it away all together. Then we will have no more power hours etc. I don't think anyone wants that either. They just need to get on the rides supervisors and assistant supervisors to actually give some feedback and develop the associates that try to be funny to the point of being annoying. There is a line, and that line is different with each person. If it's not done this way, a higher up full timer is just going to say that's it and the rides will lose their personalities. But something else to consider is that people on this forum are a very small percentage of park guests. Most guests don't hear a darn thing that's being said half the time. For what it's worth the last few weeks for me at the park have been much better. The Beast tonight while I could nitpick one or two things actually had a great play on the driver and headset spieler. It was really livening, and kept up the mood.

Why was the dog show bad?

Dollywood 2017

Man I didn't know it was actually taken out... That's a shame. HUSS honestly kind of had a flew to close to the sun moment. They really were the first ones to start making high capacity thrilling flat rides that weren't just drop rides. I'm kinda bummed I never got to ride it. -
IDK, I think we should still be curious about the tree in The Bats queue that had the ribbon tied around it...
-
Should be pretty much walk on to almost everything with the rain.
-
Yeah she is amazing. I should have ran to guest relations and gave her a good comment. I think their headset has been broken the past few weeks. Driver has been spieling it all. Also darn, like the whole Mystic Timbers crew posts here... I assumed forums like this were pretty much dead to the under 25 crowd.
-
Rain and higher temps got everyone out... Park is dead.

Beast has a whole queue house full, KI in general is more busy than normal and Raptor has this. WHAT IS THIS WORLD WE LIVE IN.

Island Smokehouse now open at Soak City
TheRickster replied to malem's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Well as of right now I don't really fit on either of those coasters. I could spend the calories on some barbecue but then i feel like I'd be hungry a bit later. -
I think it's probably expanded media coverage which the new coasters do help. I think maybe the current staff has a lot more local pull for stories than the 00' decade did. Then even doing some rather liberal ideas like adding a meal plan option and unlimited drink options gets people talking about the park around the water cooler. I also think the park likely has a Wax and Wane effect. I know for years when I worked there I'd talk about how I was always there even when I wasn't working. EVERYONE back then complained about how long these lines were... However they really weren't that bad unless it was a busy Saturday or a Holiday. I think public opinion kind of shifts in and out of favor for Kings Island, possibly with the wait times being a big part of that. People learned that it wasn't as bad as what they thought it was and started going again. Now that the lines for food are huge, (though the park kind of has their hands tied on that matter) and the ride lines are longer again. We will see the crowds start to disperse after a peak to repeat the dip. It might just be my skewed view since I was a kid, but I remember the lines being longer in the 90's as well. In fact learning the opposite when I went again in 2003 is the reason why I bought a pass that year.
