Man, what a tough choice. I love the entire thing, start to finish, but I guess if I had to choose one it would be the Second Hill. In the back you really fly over that and the airtime is wicked, then the second drop is surprisingly huge and your thinking "What? Second drops aren't like this!" Good times, good times.

You might be a KI Addict if..... You go up an escelator and scream "Wait, WHA?" when you realize your not gonna fall back down afterwards. You can draw the layout of every coaster at Kings Island. Even Flight of Fear. Your Desktop and Laptop Wallpaper are the same. Diamondback. You find yourself asking, "Is it April 18 yet?" or "Is it Ride Warriors Coaster Weekend yet?" You watch Movies like Rollercoaster or National Lampoon's Vacation and can name every ride in the movie. You Find yourself going through withdrawl symptoms despite having gone just yesterday. You call Kings Island "Home" and your home "The House" Guilty, of all the above.

Diamondback Construction Thread (Updated 3-19-09)
Beast1979 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I think it's only fair that I have the last post. I agree with this - Dane -
Sure, use it. I don't mind. Ohh, hia then!
-
Yes, but major emphisis on ALMOST.
-
So, if people were getting 25 minute waits for Diamondback today (One of the most crowded days of the year probably) via the single rider line, I wonder if on dead days we might be seeing some waits close to walk ons through the SRL!

How long did you wait for your first ride on Diamondback?
Beast1979 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KI Polls
I was one of the first riders so, I was one of the people who waited less then an hour. I left the park at 11:30, no one told me the line would be tiny after noon! I woulda' stayed and gotten 4 rides on Diamondback! Ohh well. Is it next Sunday yet? -
Hmmm...... RexandtheBeast.com(Rex), Violakat03(Kat), coastergirl82(Angie), Pkiboy(Adam), Don Helbig (who know's what his username is!), Avatar(Jesse), gad190(Don't know his real name), BoddaH1994(Ryan), Gordon Bombay(Ronny), CoastersRZ(Robbie), and Dane(Dane), and a few other's who's name I didn't catch. Wait, my group had a Diamondback Meet-Up later that day? POO!!!!! Jackson, who's very sad, and still has his hand stamp on his hand.........

Can you provide a reason as to why you think that? Because quite frankly if you think that, I'm conserned for you.....

Diamondback First Thoughts and Impressions?!
Beast1979 replied to tigellinus's topic in Kings Island
It looks to me like Diamondback was a sucess, but what do I know? -
Sigh. Try searching for one of the numerous related topics on the subject. If all else fails, try the test seat out in front.

Thanks guys. It sounds like the Single Rider Line will come in VERY handy this summer when there won't be a line going 20 miles before entering the queue! I look forward to 10 minute rides this season!
-
Help me out here, since I am almost always a single rider, where do single riders enter on Diamondback? Also, do you have to wait in that line that streches back to Terre Haute before you enter the single rider line, or can you just bypass that line and enter the single rider line? Thanks!

Are you Satisfied with Diamondback? Does it live up to the hype? Post your vote and comment in a post! I, for one, was intensely satisfied with Diamondback (See my "Interests" on my User Page), and thought it lived up to the hype and more!

Diamondback First Thoughts and Impressions?!
Beast1979 replied to tigellinus's topic in Kings Island
Sorry Skywriter. Pity, it's such a shame to wait for hours just to be let down. You did try the test seat though, right? Woa hey! Wait a minute! You havn't even ridden this thing yet! You have no room to talk! I think you might just be saying that because you couldn't ride. -
Not if you talk about our PR guy like that you won't!

Diamondback First Thoughts and Impressions?!
Beast1979 replied to tigellinus's topic in Kings Island
I need but one word to describe it all. Perfect. -
The front cover of the On Ride Photo. The inside flap, and *drumroll*......... That's me, in the front right. That's All for now! Thank you Kings Island for the great time and fantastic ride called Diamondback, Thank you to everyone who I had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with, and most of all, thanks for Reading!

There goes my train. Up, Up And away! I rode in the Back Car of the 4th Train. To my right, Dvo. Behind me, Rex, from www.rexandthebeast.com. To my back right, Violakat! As soon as I got off the ride, I screamed "MOM! GIVE ME MY CAMERA!" I felt an urge to take a picture of my new favorite ride. Not just at Kings Island, anywhere! How is Diamondback? Absolutely amazing. Pure Coaster Bliss. That explains the "WOW" title of this thread. WOW. Absolutely Amazing. To Gauge it, it kicks the living daylights out of Millennium Force. Just ask Angie, she agrees, and that's saying something coming from Gigacoaster2k! Violakat wants the check. Angie liked the Complementary Gift Bags. The best part of the ride? I don't know. It's all amazing. Definitely the best aspect is the airtime. There is Airtime. EVERYWHERE. I was practically stapled and spent half the time out of my seat! And the drops. Ohh, my the drops. Each Drop is filled with delicious coaster goodness, your stomach smoothly flying into your chest as you plummet to the Earth. The turns. The magnificant smoothness that the ride has gives it a graceful feeling through the ride. But at the same time, it feels out of control and wild like The Beast. And then the beautifully put splashdown, creating a wonderful effect that amazes and transfixes future riders into a state perfection and awe. True perfection. Let's do something a little different. Let's ride The Beast! When I say "US" I mean "US!" Our group rode The Beast together. I can remember Avatar, Gigacoaster2k, Violakat, and Adventure2007. There were a few others. What does our onride photo look like? (Epic nerd moment) Another great thing about Diamondback It towers over everything. EVERYTHING Dedicated to Jordan Hill (beastfan26), who sadly could not join us today. Hang in there buddy! I can tell you, from the POV I was worried that Diamondback would be slower and less exciting then I thought. I was wrong. Very, very wrong. Our group practically walked onto The Beast. When we got out, this happened. There was an entire group of people looking at Diamondback. Who wouldn't? Vortex looks just a little more orange with it's new paint job, but quite honestly, if they were gonna invest in paint, invest it in Flight Deck danngit! Our group PLANNED to ride Flight of Fear, but it broke. We lost Angie and Kat, and a few others. But hey, The Racer wasn't running a full train! So we rode it. Then our group headed to the walk-on Adventure Express. Great ride, as usual, despite the fact we got stuck on the second lift for about 30 seconds. At this point, our group had broken up. We checked Action Zone, and it was packed. I walked back to Flight Deck, it was packed. Enjoy it while you can, Beaver. Wanna do Diamondback again? NO!!!! The line was huge. HUGE. HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!! I went up in the Eiffel Tower to see how huge. Here's Action Zone, which hasn't changed. Oktoberfest, which hasn't changed. Coney Mall, which hasn't changed. International Street, which hasn't Changed. And, Nick Universe, which sadly, hasn't changed. But hey, Rivertown looks pretty different! Webcam Nostalgia. This is what the new Beast Enterance looks like. The splashdown area, in which the grass hasn't quite grown. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQ6P7yVoiNM A Video I made of Diamondback's line. Thanks to Jordan for putting it on youtube. Embeded: Diamondback from about 1/2 up. Since there was nothing left to ride that doesn't have an hour wait, we rode the carousel on our way out. This made Trooper Mom (The poor packmule for all our bags) very, very happy. I'm sorry, I just can't help it. The Diamondback Bus!!!! A little artsy photo I took through the sun roof of the car. More in just a second........

WOW. Just, WOW. I'm not gonna talk, I'll just let the pictures tell themselves. To get into the coaster spirit, last night we watched National Lampoon's Vacation. Chevy Chase, John Candy, And Roller Coasters! Despite the hilarity though, I was not put to sleep early. By the time the alarm went off, I was laying in bed going "About Time!" I was up since 5:20. Before that, 4:00. Before that, 2:30. We got out the door at about 6:20 Dawn at Kings Island I've never gone there that early. The parking lot was already crowded, at 6:30!!!!! The Eiffel Tower at Dawn A good shot of Action Zone Time to check in? No, we have to wait in line Cool view of Invertigo Luckilly, I had my iPod Touch with me to entertain me. How many people were waiting for the gates to open? Well, this was the back of the line as of 6:30. I bet it got bigger by the time they opened. Due to the magic of Photo Trip Reports, you have been instantly transported to the front of the line. Enjoy! Now we go stand in another line for security. This is what the lanyard looked like. The new billboards. Jasper, this is for you. Then, after security, ANOTHER line to get into the park! Finally, we got to the front of the park. Now, I know these pictures don't look like it, but it was actually pretty cold. Eventually the first riders were escorted to Rivertown Junction. Eiffel Tower again. Ohh my god. After over a year of waiting, We're finally here! It's only a matter of minutes before I ride it! Right? Wrong. Up next is a wait to sign in. The Diamondback Trading Post. Actually it is very cool, lots of decent merchendise Hate lines? Just imagine the bliss of this first drop. The "Snake Pit" food stand. The sign, which is actually looks really good. There's actually a decent amount of roundabouts before you even go under the sign! Eventualy it started doing test runs. The surprise here? The lift. It is super fast. I mean Cable-lift-hill fast. Also, it is super quiet. You can't hear the anti-rollback dogs unless your on the ride. The entire Rivertown Area looks rejuvinated and beautiful this season. Where there was a bench and a tree there is a nice piece of landscaping and a decorated lamp, and the grass is green and pretty. Let me tell you, I got sooooooooooooooo excited for the ride, Trooper Mom said I was obnoxious how jittery I was. We entered Rivertown Junction and were greeted with a group of coaster-hungry-offseason-bit-enthusiasts, along with the occasional member of A Kid Again. They asked you what size you were and gave you your shirt. Then they gave you your number. Sticker it on there! Let's RIDE! Yes! YESS!!!!! NO!!!!! Yep, yet another line. There I am, at seat 107. Eventually they got the line moving. More in a second.....

Very nice. Wonderful pictures. I'm glad to see yet another who is crazy about Diamondback. How do you think it is in your Top 10? It's my #1. I would post my PTR, if only Trooper Mom would come and proofread it (Long story, don't ask).

Here is a video I took of the ride's line. IT. IS. PACKED.
