As always, that sign exaggerates a bit. 1 1/3 miles is both of them combined, 61 MPH has got to be without the trims (Maybe that's how it ran back then), and The Racer is 88 feet high, not 94.
-
If we went by that logic, I could say you know it's officially spring when parks start opening. And yet, on SFOG's opening day, it snowed.

Over the last few days I have been working on a stitch together of Cedar Point using Microsoft Virtual Earth's Birds Eye view. The said view gives you a close up perspective of earth from the sky, and I thought it would be cool if it was used to do all of Cedar Point. I used Power Point to stitch them all together, and it's not perfect. There are areas where it doesn't fit too right, and it doesn't cover all of the peninsula. But it's ok. Here it is:

Going to Dollywood any suggestions

First off, get there bright and early to get your QBot. A QBot is part of the Q2Q system Dollywood offers, and it is awesome. Scroll through your little QBot guy, and if you see a ride you'd like to ride, click reserve and it will give you a time in which you have to get there by. Once you get there, there will be a second, and much shorter, line waiting for you. It's easy, it's efficient, and you'll love it. But get there early, because, if you don't, they'll run out. Second, don't be a ride whore. There is so much more to do at Dollywood rather then rides. While yes, they do have Tennessee Tornado, Thunderhead, Mystery Mine, Blazing Fury, and a few others, Dollywood is not a rides park. There are, sit down restaurants, Bald Eagle pens, fantastic shows, a wonderful train ride, authentic scenery items such as live glassblowing, and much more. Third, don't forget to enjoy the beauty of the smokies. That's a wonderful place down there, don't focus just on Dollywood. And finally, do NOT miss Blazing Fury. Many have said that is one of the best dark rides in country, and I agree. I rode it more times that one day then I've ridden Diamondback so far this year. Have fun! -
Yea, NOT. I'm just waiting until that page is deleted.......

HurlFest......makes you feel soooooo thankful for Ride Warriors Coaster Weekend.

I doubt it is for a long time. The Beast survived the Second Coaster Wars (Which lasted from when Racer was built to, what, 2003 with Top Thrill Dragster?), without loosing it's status. It's 7,359 feet long. That is huge. Even for today's status. Maybe, if there happens to be a Third Coaster Wars, The Beast could fall victim. But I don't see that happening in a while. That doesn't say much. In the 1960's Blue Streak was the equivilant of Millennium Force today. Imagine a 1902 ride. Nostalgic, yes. Intense, hevans no.

Ooooooo................. Jackson, who's off to Roller Coaster Tycoon 3!
-
You'd be correct. King Cobra opened as the first stand up coaster in North America (There was one before it in Japan I believe) and the first Stand Up coaster with a loop.
-
While Diamondback is new and, in my opinion, a slightly better ride then Beast, as much as I hate to say it there are plenty of coasters out there similar to Diamondback. There is only one Beast. Diamondback broke no records (at least none the GP would care about) The Beast broke them in bulk. Diamondback recycles elements from similar rides. Beast is one of a kind. Diamondback did not set a new standard for roller coaster technology. Beast is a landmark, defined what a roller coaster could be. There is only one Beast.
-
The Beast. Without a doubt. Can you say tallest, fastest, longest coaster at the time, and longest wooden still to this day? And still 30 years later, still going strong! The Beast is without question, the most innovative coaster at Kings Island, and set a new benchmark in roller coaster history.
-
I'm hopping that's for the Hurler, not something else provoked by riding coasters.....

MELROSE KIDDIELAND TO CLOSE

And another one gone and another one gone, another one bites the dust! How sad indeed, one park after another. -
Go to maps.live.com, zoom in to Kings Island and go to birds eye view.

You must have seen me there.......
-
I was only saying that although many people regard it as the first looping coaster, many don't know Corkscrew was the first successful coaster with an inversion.
-
And yet, it still is not the first successful coaster with an inversion! That would be Corkscrew at Knotts Berry Farm built in 1975 (one year before Revolution), now Corkscrew at Silverwood in Idaho.

Cedar Fair has a license with Peanuts. You could find them at Cedar Point, Michigans Adventure, what was once Geauga Lake, what is now Nickelodeon Universe (MOA), and a few other parks. I can easily see them coming to KI soon.
-
The Nick stuff was discounted last year. Having said that, the license for the Nick theming, if I'm correct, ends at the end of this year, though I could very well be wrong, and Viacom is most likely to ask for a fortune for a renewal (A Fortune that Cedar Fair doesn't have), so I don't see Nick staying around much longer.
-
The news has hit Screamscape, although honestly I think they are being a bit optemistic of the situation. Once you ride it, you have trouble seeing it last for a few more years.

What coaster would you like to see Kings Island get?

Are you sure that major downtime up there isn't just due to the overload of Intamin? -

With Prowler opening this year and that darned ride they've been trying to start at CGA, I can see a GCII at more Cedar Fair parks. However, with Kings Island having Beast, Son of Beast, Fairly Odd Coaster, and Racer, I doubt we see an investment in another woodie soon. I see a park like Cedar Point or Carowinds getting one first. -
Just sent mine in, at the last second. Is that not just like me? Anyhow, when will they announce the winner?
