It was supposedly done to "Keep it consistent with other racing coasters in the chain". Gemini at the time was the only racing coaster that ran both sides forwards. There are many other theories as to why Cedar Fair did it. The 2 I think are most logical are these. PTC (Philadelphia Toboggan Company), the people who made the trains, made it clear that the trains were not meant to run backwards. Taft flipped one side for the weekend as a publicity stunt, and it stuck. The one I think is most likely correct, for Insurance. What do you think is harder to insure? A forwards or backwards running roller coaster (Especially one not meant in the first place to run backwards)?

Maybe they should put lightning rods on coasters over 200 feet........ -

Let's jam pack the park with (What is it now, 4, 5 Intamin Coasters?) that are nightmares to maintain and see what happens. What? They get broke a lot? I didn't see that coming! Seriously, part of the blame goes to Intamin, for making these rides like this in the first place, another goes to the maintenance crew. I mean really, look at that cable! That should be avoided at all costs, not "knowing what to do when it happens"! They better get this fixed before June 6, or I will NOT be happy. -

We're not hating on Ty, it's a good picture he took. It's just that there are other pictures on here that, imo, are better. -

I won't get my hopes up, but I'll watch and see. -
Except, when they are advertised as an intense high speed thrill ride, are enclosed, and have a "5" intensity rating. The Crypt is the only Ferris Wheel that fits that description.

There's a Trim on the first drop There's a Trim before the second drop (It's been what, 4 seconds since the last one?) There's a Trim on the straight away before the second tunnel (By FAR the worst, slows you to a near stand still) There's a Trim on the drop after the second lift The Beast is one of the best coasters in history, a fantastic ride, but the trims are murder, pure murder, on the ride. I've been starting to think for quite a while that, perhaps Jeff Gramke ENJOYS the feeling of hitting a trim! And, yes, it feels slower to me too.

While Ride Warriors Weekend, KIC day, and some others were fantastic days, I've also had some great experiences with an empty park. It depends mostly on what I ride, who I'm hanging out with, whatnot.

Cedar Point is without a doubt the best of the 8 parks I've been to. I havn't been to enough Cedar Fair parks to vote in this poll (Kings Island and Cedar Point only), but Kings Island, from what I've been told, is one of the best parks in the chain.

There are 2 major things that determine the fate of a ride, when it is to difficult to maintain (to the point where it is not financially sensable) and when the ride is unpopular with the public. From what I'm herd, the Crypt is both. I would not be surprised to see it removed in the not so distant future, maybe even by the 2010 season. When the ride is constantly down, has been since it opened 7 years ago, it's reprogramed to reduce said problems, and is still having difficulties, then you have a serious problem.

Yes, someone knows. Jackson, who couldn't resist.

It was very tough between the Action Zone rides, which are all pretty great. Drop Tower's feeling of free fall, Xtreme Skyflyer's feeling of flying, In the end I voted Delirium, because it creates the best experience for me. Your facing straight down to the ground one second, the next your facing the sky close enough you can reach out and touch it. It's a fantastic ride. Although, I've yet to ride maXair, so......

Again, proves to be different from the crowd.

Please. Row 16 is where it's at!
-
That is because Kings Island's Tomb Raider/Crypt/Timmy's Air Tours Sr. is a GIANT Top Spin, the only of it's kind. It is also a maintenance nightmare, but don't worry, it won't be soon......

^Magnum has been running Trim Free for a while this year..........

Sick. I'm definitely joining, this site was made for me. And yea, I want to know about the photo contest!
-
That would be........weird. Build a ride just like The Beast, but a bit longer just for the purpose of breaking it's length record. Imagine how that would go over with the GP!
-
Where exactly do you expect said longest wooden roller coaster to go at KI? KI already had the opportunity to surpass The Beast with SOB. I say it's extremely unlikely. They actually have a lot of land left. They could make it a terrain coaster, and a great one at that! As if we don't have a coaster that already does that?

An official thread for all "How busy is it?" posts. Brilliant idea, I can see it becoming one of the longest threads in KIC history.
