Excellent point. Fruit is so refreshing during the summer. Especially on a roller coaster riding, running from ride to ride, jam packed fun filled hot day. I LOVE that idea! I never eat anything heavy such as pizza. I don't eat meat and usually an ice cream cone is about the only thing I eat at KI. A fruit stand would be outstanding! I hope some one takes your advice! One of my new favorite things a Disney World is the Dole Whips. I read about them before my trip last year, tried it, and now it is one of my must-haves there. The Dole stand in Adventureland has pineapple ones, and I believe somewhere else in the park has either strawberry or raspberry, I can't remember which. Basically it's pineapple soft serve ice cream in a cup with pineapple juice. Talk about refreshing! Just the thing we needed on that hot June day. We will definitely be getting one this September again. I will be getting my daughter her own this time instead of her eating part of mine, I didn't expect her to like it so much and eat as much of mine as she did!

I plan on being there... just look at my signature below. After being on the last Beast train of the season this past year, my opening day experience will be highly different from my last KI trip. But it will be the first of many this year with my 3 year old daughter, having fun watching her on the rides and riding whatever I can with her (and possibly sneaking away with a friend to get a big ride in).

While this is completely off topic and has nothing to do with the Eiffel Tower, I will say this you RaCeR: Take it from someone who spent a lot of time in High School browsing KICentral when I was supposed to be doing something else, those habits will stick and will royally bite you in the butt in college. I'm not 100% sure, but, didn't Intamin build the Oil Derreck at SFOT too, and the one at SFMM? I was about to comment about RaCeR wasting time at school by posting, but then I took a look at myself... posting from work! But at least I paid my dues by paying attention in high school and college (of course back then, Al Gore had not made the internet readily available yet ), which allowed me to get a job where I can fill in my free time by posting on here.

Actually, that picture is of that building, but from a few years ago when it was still known as Bier Garten, and being converted into BGSS. BGSS is not going anywhere yet. WOOHOO!!! Post #200!!! Now I'm a Junky!

Go Miami RedHawks! Sorry, I just had too...

According to www.pollstar.com, Jeremy Camp is scheduled for Spirit Song on July 11th, and Hawk Nelson and David Crowder Band are scheduled on July 12th. This website is usually a good precursor to coming events, even before they are officially announced. However, Ryan is correct in stating that nothing official has been released by the park or the promoter.
-
^So true. Spirit Song has grown from 2 separate concerts (Jars of Clay and dc Talk on separate dates) in 1996, to a 1 day festival, to a 2 day festival, and then the current 3 day format. At least one of the days, and sometimes two, sell out. It is a good event for the park, brings in a good chunk of money, and many people who like to spend that money. KI did a disservice to the Spirit Song attendees in getting rid of the campground, as many church groups stayed there during their visit. However I'm sure the revenue generated by GWL more than makes up for that. I just know many groups were disappointed that they could no longer mix and mingle with groups from other regions as they once could. Spirit Song is typically held the Thursday, Friday and Saturday after the July 4th weekend, so Red's date would coincide with that. Tickets usually go on sale around this time of year, but so far they have not. I would suggest checking www.sonshineconcerts.com from time to time. This is the concert promoter's website, but nothing is on it about Spirit Song or Kings Fest at Kings Dominion yet.

Skyscraper at Cedar Point

I think Mr. Bayless needs to look up the meaning of staccato. Most screams I've ever heard on rides are definitely legato! Sorry, that's just the musician in me... Wow, that looks intense. I'm enough of a wreck on ferris wheels, I can't imagine this. But I would do it anyway. I'm very complex like that. -
Which Kings Island Eatery Is Your Favorite?
XGatorHead 8904 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KI Polls
^^Yeah, for some reason every time I go there, Chick-Fil-A is closed. I guess that's because I'm always there on Sundays! Which is just as well as they use peanut oil and my daughter has a peanut allergy. The doctor said she may grow out of that (hopefully she does), but why take chances. I would have to vote LaRosa's. I've always liked the pizza there, and my wife likes the pizza from Canteen/Oscar's/Backstage Grill/??? better than the other locations. She swears they taste different, but I never noticed a difference. I think it's just her. We went to Wings buffet once this past year and it was horrible. I hate to repeat what others have said, but the food was dried out, stale and the associates were not friendly/helpful. The only plus was the free refills, we made sure to load our cups before we left. I miss the days of the Montgomery Inn ribs, the rib-b-que sandwiches with the tater babies w/ cheese. I also love Potato Works, but my wife is not too keen on it, so I never have anyone to share an order with (I try not to eat a whole one by myself like I used to), so I haven't gotten their fries in years. My wife's favorite place is Bubba Gump's. This is fine with me on a cooler day, but on a hot day in July/August, the last thing I want to eat is greasy fried food from there. I miss the metts and brats of Bier Garten! It hurts even more that it's the same building. And Starbucks? Ugh. I don't even go there outside the park unless there's no other option. I don't like spending that much money on coffee, I'm content enough with the coffee at the BP down the street from work. How Starbucks and their counterparts duped America into wasting that much money on a product that is relatively cheap to make is beyond me and something I will never understand. What a bad change for that building as well. La Patisserie Francaise was where I started my career at KI, what wonderful baked goods we had then. The elephant ears, cinnamon rolls, cookies and other items... all made onsite! And during Winterfest, the fresh baked gingerbread men. I loved decorating those in front of that big window on the side of the building, putting on a show for all those guests gathered around. Oh well, that's what memories are for... Even though I'm not a big fan of it outside the park, I do like the addition of Subway as an option. I just never eat there at the park. Plus, I would have rather seen them put it somewhere else besides Sweet Tooth. I always saw Sweet Tooth busier than Subway. And what the $&%@ is Fontana Bistro in the survey? -
Robin Hood and his Merry Men were not a part of KI&MVRR. The train was themed to a pioneer/river settlement theme, and taking a trip across the pond to England would have been a very long journey!

Ooh, ooh, I get it! We're getting a sign! And what a beautiful one it is... And why wasn't this topic part of the "Rumor Coaster for 2009" topic? It's the same thing!

I'm scared of a source that calls it a loop-the-loop. It sounds like it was written by my father-in-law who calls coasters "rollie coasters". When correcting someone's grammar, you may want to check that your grammar is correct as well. And here I go running away and ducking, the whole time swearing that I'm not taking sides in the physics argument because it's been 17 years since I've taken a physics class and most of that stuff has left my brain, but I did get an A+ in that class! But everything I've said here is in jest, trying to lighten the mood...

Kings Island: Where the Magic of the Movies Becomes the Lamest Ride Names of a Lifetime!

OMG...they actually DID change it to Drop Tower! That's the last time I take a week away from this site, I totally missed that news! Now the "Enclosed: The Coaster", and "Water" Falls post from Thrill Biscuit makes sense to me.

Has anyone been to Canada's Wonderland?
XGatorHead 8904 replied to Vortex's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I've been to Wonderland twice, 1996 & '97, so it's been quite a while, but I would recommend 2 days as well. The park back then was wonderfully landscaped, had good rides and we all had a good time (although the 2nd trip we did experience some problems that prompted me to write a letter to their Guest Relations, mainly regarding difficulties we, as Paramount Parks employees, had getting into the park which I had not encountered the first visit and the way we were treated in regards to my friend's handicap accessability needs). I highly recommended the park back then, but that was over 10 years ago. ZOINKS! -
SFKK: Girl Injured in Accident
XGatorHead 8904 replied to joecoaster's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Definitely not selfish. I was thinking the same thing about my daughter, although she's only three. Reading Kaitlyn and her mother's statements made me think of the incident in a more personal way. Really drove home the trauma of the whole event. -
Motley Fool: Don't Sell Disney
XGatorHead 8904 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
A few weeks ago we received a flier in the mail from WDW with a deal for 40% off the value resort rooms during certain times of the year. These times are during their off-peak times, but that works out fine for us since our daughter is only 3 and not in school yet. We were actually going to call last night to reserve (it has to be done by 3/31) but got too busy so we were calling tonight. I didn't really think too much about why they were offering the discounts until I read these articles. But hey, I'll take it. Especially if those checks clear the senate and get out in the mail. They do have some valid arguments against the current plan, but that's a whole different (off-topic) story. We're going to Disney World with or without that check. -
"Confirmed" Information vs. Speculation
XGatorHead 8904 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
Wow, I'm away from the forums for a week and all this happens! I just have to say, it's about time! I can't count the number of times since I've joined where I read someone's post claiming to have confirmed information, and they are almost always the same offenders (and yes, certain names do come to mind immediately). Put your money where your mouth is and back those claims up. As a long time former associate of KI/PKI, I know a lot of things from my personal experiences and from contacts that I still have at the park which I will NEVER post, even as a rumor. I respect my friends too much to expose them to any risk. And I know I'm not the only one in that boat. Someone said it well in a post in another thread awhile back, something like "Those who know, don't tell". I couldn't agree with this more. -
They can do a tie-in with the themed ride at CP and paint the billboard like this:

^Nice pictures of the DeLorean, and I love the license plates! After reading so much on here about it, it's good to finally see some pictures. Edit: Now you've gone and changed the pictures!

Actually, Western Row dead-ends into Socialville Foster. Take Socialville Foster east and that will get you to the Little Miami. Google maps shows that "Kings Mill Road" runs north along the river, taking you up to The Racer, although that obviously is not open to the public.
