  1. The Beast made City Beat's "Cool Cincinnati" List, about 2/3 of the way down: http://www.citybeat.com/cincinnati/article-21627-cool-cincinnati.html
  2. According to KI's Haunt website, Half Pint Brawlers doesn't start until October 1st, so they are not there this weekend.
  3. Only one week to go! Since I'm getting in the mood by going to CP's HalloWeekends tonight & tomorrow, I think it's about time that my Wally Gator avatar gets in the mood again too!
  4. ^Come on, Dave, where's your sense of adventure? Silverwood's only 2100 miles from Columbus (thank you Google Maps)!
  5. A victory for those of us who are built more like Hagrid than Hermione! Harry Potter & the Forbidden Journey Seats Modified to Fit Larger Guests: http://attractionsma...-larger-guests/ This gives me hope that I might actually be able to ride if we go like we're planning to next year!
  6. Hmmm.... I seem to remember some members (I was definitely not one of them) on here predicting that KI would lose the Golden Ticket for Best Kid's Area with the Peanuts re-theme... Guess they were wrong!
  7. ^Nice! Yeah, there's a few VH songs I won't play for her yet. That one and "Panama" come to mind immediately... "Hot for Teacher" would be another, considering she just started kindergarten. I can just see her saying to her teacher, "My daddy likes to sing 'Hot for Teacher'!" That might make for an akward parent/teacher conference next month...
  8. Ah yes, I remember those days well, being a 10 year veteran of Admissions during Paramount's reign. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger: It gave our voices a work out and taught us how to project. Uh, wait... did somebody say something? Excuse me while I go find out, my hearing's not what it used to be...
  9. And then there's my 5 year old, who absolutely LOVES Van Halen's "Jump". That's my girl!
  10. Hmmmm.... Christmas presents for GatorGirl! I'm there!
  11. Why? Well, at least at KI, someone thought that the wonderful old Bakery would be the perfect spot for a Starbucks, a place which can be found in abundance outside the park. Now the wonderful cookies, delectable brownies topped with icing and either a Hershey Kiss or mini Reese's Cup, ginormous elephant ears, nice iced donuts and huge pecan rolls & cinnamon rolls (of the non-Cinnabon variety) that once graced that spot on International Street have been replaced by... biscotti? (sorry, I'm not a fan of biscotti at all, or any of the other pastries that Starbucks offers for that matter. I will however take a Venti Chai Tea Frappuccino!). Gator, who long ago worked in La Patisserie Francaise on International Street for his first job, way back in 1989... before some of you were even born...
  12. Why wait until after opening night?
  13. ^Wrong amphitheater. Saltwater Circus was located behind International Showplace, in the area currently occupied partially by Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular and partially by Diamondback.
  14. We went today too, and it was fairly busy but I've seen it much worse. Then again, I've been there a lot more that the average gator. It was nowhere near the crowds that the park had on the old Paramount Gold Pass Bring a Friend Free days, or even the Robby Knievel and Rick Wallenda events.
  15. I wouldn't say it came out long before the movie. Mike Oldfield's album Tubular Bells was released on May 25, 1973 and The Exorcist was released on December 26, 1973. Although I've had times where seven months seemed long, I imagine especially at the age I was when both of those were released! (for those wondering, that would be 5 months old and 1 year old) Gator, a fan of Mike Oldfield, having the albums Tubular Bells, Tubular Bells II and The Songs of Distant Earth.
  16. Post of the day award goes to Terpy, and we're only an hour and 44 minutes into the day! Kings Island? Check. Paramount's Kings Island? Check. Cedar Fair's Kings Island? Check again. I was in that exact situation last year. It was extremely difficult to wait until they finally announced Slaughterhouse, but wait I did. And I recently realized I probably shouldn't publicly disclose exactly where I'll be this year either. It's a returning attraction, but it hasn't officially been announced as returning or not returning. It's pretty obvious it's returning if you've been to the park or seen pictures of Haunt construction though. Hear, hear! Those that know me well know how I was disappointed by a former employer, but that opened up new opportunities and experiences that I otherwise would not have had. Sure, I really miss doing what I did for that employer, but things changed for the better in other aspects of life. Life has a funny way of balancing itself out and reorganizing your priorities. Me either! Is it April 2011 yet?
  17. I would suggest going to Guest Relations. They should be able to look up your mother's order and hopefully take care of you. I'll be at the employee reunion too.
  18. What seems to be the "proper way" to you may not necessarily be what the park considers to be the proper way. I'm sorry, but a former blue ice cream/pizza slinger is nowhere close to understanding the full complexities of running a park. I worked at the park in a multitude of different positions over the course of 18 seasons, and I'm nowhere close to understanding the full complexities of running a park either. The park has reasons for disclosing what it does and for withholding what it does. Every single company does the same. There is no such thing as full disclosure. Such is life. Deal with it. While I admittedly know nothing about the situation regarding your previous park employment, from working at the park for so long I have a pretty good understanding of how the park treats it's employees overall, and guess what... it's pretty positive IMO! Sure, there could be policies you may not agree with, or there may be events that occur that could cause you to have a bad experience or two, but let me tell you something about this great big world we live in. The same thing happens everywhere. I've had bad experiences in every job I've ever had, but the positive events far outweigh the negative ones, especially at Kings Island. Kings Island is in the business of providing fun to it's visitors, and any associate that doesn't want to help their employer, whether that employer be KI, White Castle or Procter & Gamble, meet it's goals should probably seek employment elsewhere. And I'm confused... You love the park too much to ruin their reputation, but then you say "Never be loyal to something that is not loyal back." That's a little contradictory. If you feel the park was that disloyal to you, why don't you follow your own advice and tell us what happened. After all, you're the one that believes in full disclosure if something is "true". Maybe that way you can finally be banned from posting some of the nonsense that you do.
  19. I don't think you have anything to worry about, now that we have people posting that WindSeeker may be increased to 400 ft: http://www.KICentral...ndpost&p=402242 I'm sorry, I just find posts like that one to be completely idiotic and irresponsible.
  20. Oh yeah, that sounds totally logical. In the EXTREMELY slim chance that what you are saying is true, please let me introduce you to a new topic that you may have missed: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=22638&view=findpost&p=401758
  21. They typically don't release the price points for after the fall sale this early. Once it gets closer to the Oct. 31st deadline, they may release the 2nd price point or they may not until after the sale is over. If you buy a gold now and decide to upgrade to platinum, what they do is charge you the difference between the price of the platinum price at that time and what you paid for gold. As far as spring vs. now, historically it's always been better to buy now in the fall.
  22. It's not bad, but there's an error on their main page. I says on there that the date for Pointfest is Sept. 19th. I got excited for a moment because I had seen previously that it was on the 18th, one of the days I would be there, and I thought if it was switched to the 19th that would be less people for my visit. I went to the Events page, and it is listed on there as the 18th. Oh well, I went on that day last year and it wasn't too bad.
  23. They would have to use the radio edit (which is the way I heard the song the first time with the offending word silenced out... but I somehow knew what went there ). I of course bought the "Parental Advisory" version of the cd and crank it in the car, and have the song as my ringtone. On my way to Haunt I usually listen to Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson (and this year will add Avenged Sevenfold to that mix) to get myself in the mood.
  24. I completely agree with everyone's sentiments regarding Mrs. Koch. Opening day this year was the first time I had been to HW and didn't see her there. It just didn't feel the same. We asked about her and she was out of town that day, I believe in Florida. Great park, great people. Too bad I only get there once a year.
