  1. Mrs. Gator and I went to ST:TE back in 2001. We both enjoyed ourselves there - even though Mrs. Gator's a non-trekkie. I agree with jzarley, the beam-up effect was amazing. There weren't very many people there at all when we went. We had a nice meal there too and Mrs. Gator had a fun conversation with a Klingon while we were eating. I don't remember what they talked about exactly, I just remember that we were both laughing quite a bit. I still wear my ST:TE polo shirt that I bought there to work about every other week. Overall, it was a great attraction (and we went before the Borg ride was added). Too bad it had to close, but at the time I could see that it might be headed that way. Interest in the Star Trek franchise as a whole was on the decline. With the success of the J.J. Abrams Trek movie, it would have been interesting to see if it would have revived a little had it stayed open.
  2. How so? I'm not trying to start an argument or anything, I just would like to know what makes you say that since I've had nothing but good interactions with every HW employee I've been in contact with.
  3. I'd love to hear them play Avenged Sevenfold's "Nightmare". The first time I heard that song I thought, "That would be a perfect song to use in a KI Haunt show!"
  4. ^Actually, that would be a "want to be" river, not lake. The Italian Job chase scene was set partly in the Los Angeles river.
  5. ^Well, I bet all you would have had to do is have a heart to heart conversation with Roy Wally, reminding him of the times when he would take his own family on vacations across the country. I think he would have had a change of heart, and he may have even ridden some rides with you in the end.
  6. ^ I like that "Eet Mor Humin", but I'm not sure how Chik-Fil-A would feel about it, especially since they have ties to the park. As for darkly comedic elements, I always try to bring a little humor to whichever attraction I'm working. When I worked as The Bouncer in Club Blood in '08, the Bengals weren't having a particularly good season, so any time someone came through wearing Bengals gear, I would say "Bengals? You're in! We like losers here!" Being a Nascar fan, if someone came through wearing Kyle Busch gear I would say "Kyle Busch? Really? Well, at least it's not Jeff Gordon!" If someone came through wearing Jeff Gordon, I would say the same thing but switch the names ("At least it's not Kyle Busch!"). Last year in Slaughterhouse, I [EDIT: to prevent any potential spoliers for things I might do this year] I've always liked a little humor sprinkled in with my scary stuff. I think this comes from liking the Nightmare on Elm Street movies and from one of my first visits to a haunted house when I was about 12. That was in Wisconsin Dells; my sister, my step-dad and I went through. There was a tambourine floating behind some metal bars and a voice said "Listen to me play my saxophone" and the tambourine shook. My sister, who was about 10 at the time, stood there for the longest time and tried to argue and rationalize with the disembodied voice that it was a tambourine, not a saxophone. My step-dad and I thought it was hilarious. That has stuck with me 25 years later... it's the only thing I remember about that haunted house. People always seem to like the humor. I even had one woman want to hug me for the Kyle Busch line. Who knows what I'll come up with this year, but I'll more than likely try to be a little funny again.
  7. I can't wait to go again. Happy Jack's Toy Factory and Eerie Estate were the stand out attractions to me. I liked our Club Blood better than their's, and The Fright Zone and Terror Island were better than I had expected. I didn't get to go through their Cornstalkers last year so I want to do that this year to see how it compares to ours. Only a few more weeks until I go on Sept. 17th & 18th! I would have liked to see a Dr. Demento asylum. I think that would be funny, but a lot of people might just see it as a novelty. -Gator, who typically stays demented, but even more so in September and October.
  8. You are correct, the brake run tunnels were added later. Back in the day you could actually see which side won the race. There were never any other tunnels along Racer's course, at least in the time I remember riding from the mid-'70s to now, and even looking at the Brady Bunch and Partridge Family episodes.
  9. Last year during public operating days there were no live animals in Slaughterhouse. There was a chicken room that had feathers, but I'm not sure if they were real feathers or artificial.
  10. Mrs. Gator and I were wondering about that ride and were thinking about taking GatorGirl on it when we went in November. Like you said it looks pretty good from the outside, but I got to wondering about how good the quality could be since it was just a roadside attraction and not in a park that could put the money into it like IOA or even Dollywood. Good to know we didn't waste our money!
  11. There was a topic previously on this: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19564&view=findpost&p=334132 Post 6 of that topic is where we discovered it was The Darkest Day, after a few posts of thinking it was from Independence Day but not knowing which track exactly.
  12. Somehow I've managed to avoid Cinnabon this year. I went there plenty last year. I tend to not pay attention to the food perks since most don't work out well for my family, but if I had paid attention to this Cinnabon perk I shudder to think how much more I would weigh!
  13. Hands up on Racer, Beast and Diamondback (and out on Firehawk). Hands down on Vortex, Flight Deck & Invertigo, only because of the OTSR. Hands down on Flight of Fear, Woodstock Express, BLSC and Adventure Express - not out of fear, but because I just like sitting there and enjoying the ride.
  14. ^You're probably thinking of Kenton Cove Keelboat Canal, or KCKC for short. It was a flume ride that was located where The Crypt is now. As for my picks: 1. FLYING EAGLES!!!! (sorry for the enthusiasm, but I really miss these) 2. Der Spinnin' Keggers or Winnie Witch's Cauldrons - either one will do 3. Enchanted Voyage - pre-Smurfs! 4. Lion Country Safari Monorail - there really was no better way to cool off on a hot day! 5. It's a toss up between Skylab, Bayern Curve and The Rotor. It's too hard to choose between those three, I loved them all.
  15. The shoes were The Flying Dutchman, which resided most recently at SFKK.
  16. My votes: I'm excited, I will try to ride it opening day (or the first day it's open to the public), and I'm just happy to be getting a new ride. I've never ridden a Screamin' Swing, but I know where I can about 4 hours away from here.
  17. It tells me you don't really like Firehawk. Nothing more, nothing less.
  18. ^Yes, but those were the Paramount years. We've so far had a very small window of time to see how CF will work. I do hope for a nice new big addition for the park's 40th anniversary though.
  19. Honey, I Shrunk the Audience at Epcot. Not anymore. Captain EO is there now: http://disneyparks.d...y-world-resort/ I didn't know Honey, I Shrunk the Audience had been replaced. I haven't been to Epcot since '08 and haven't kept up with happenings at WDW like I used to since we don't plan on going again until 2012. Last I had heard was Captain EO was going to be returning, but I had never heard where it was going or that it had actually already come back. I'm a little behind I guess! There have been several occasions this year that I've gone to the park and have seen teens wearing the yellow 3d glasses from Spongebob in the midways and on rides. I second your . While I enjoyed DOT back in the day, I wouldn't want it to come back. They brought it back at one point years after it had stopped showing full time, and it looked horribly dated even then. The clothes, the hairstyles and the cars are from a bygone era... the mid 90's! I agree with the others who said that the car rocking at the end was a good effect. That was one of the things that worked best with that film.
  20. Honey, I Shrunk the Audience at Epcot.
  21. Indyguy4KI-If it is offered only to those RENEWING passes as the poll states (they already have a pass this season, so they are not getting into haunt for free as you say, they already have unlimited visits for 2010 ). With buy now pay later you also have to give valid banking information that KI tells you up front; can't be cancelled. Those that have used this in the past know this. One should think before one post. Ouch ham, that was a little harsh... Perhaps IndyGuy hasn't used the buy now pay later option and wasn't aware of this. I know I've never used it and didn't know it. Give the guy a little slack! We'll be getting season passes, the only question is when we're going to buy them. Mrs. Gator was told a few weeks ago that they're closing her plant soon, and she just found out today that her last day will be October 29th. Hopefully she'll be able to find something right away, but who knows with this crazy economy. We'll have to seriously look at our expenses during the next few months, things we want vs. things we need.
  22. You both are spot on, exactly what I'm thinking while reading this topic. Like I said in the other topic, let them stay out of line, I'll gladly take their place. I'm really excited for this ride, now that it's confirmed. Sure, it's not a coaster, but there's a LOT more to parks than just coasters. Some of us realize that.
  23. WindSeeker is already on KI's website: http://www.visitkingsisland.com/public/park/rides/thrill_rides/index.cfm
  24. ^Put us together and we have the whole thing!
  25. I have the video, but my work computer doesn't have sound anyway.
