Yes --Beatle, who just couldn't resist

Agreed. I have really enjoyed Dorney Park every time I've been there. Meteor is really nice, as is their topspin. Short lines, nice rides, and a resulting relaxed atmosphere... What more could you ask for?
-
You will like it! And it will teach you that, with the exception of their hypers, B&M is really not very good overall!

Most of the people on this site live around the area of KI. I would suggest you look at hotels.com or other sites that have reviews from out of towners. But I have heard that the Days Inn on Fields Ertle is inexpensive and acceptable.

How would that "go after the thrill seeker" and be something the "teen market will really enjoy"? They're putting in a skate park. --Beatle, running for the door

Or as Yogi Berra would say, "Nobody goes on Columbus Day weekend, it's too crowded."

After my first Great Adventure this year, I must say that I agree with very much of what you say! Especially about Nitro, Kingda Ka vs. Dragster, and Superman!!! I enjoyed GASM, but I was disappointed in El Toro, which, imo, was just WAY to short, and far inferior to The Voyage!

Very nice TR! It was more than refreshing to read a report from someone who didn't whine and cry about roller coasters being "rough" (Wah!) or "painful" (Wah! Wah! Wah!). And you are a thirteen year old girl. Many on here can and should learn from you!

We should start a new poll on favorite posts. This post is in the # 1 slot for me. Why would this this be a favorite? I really wasn't suprised at all to find someone commented on my thoughts on Cedar Point's rides (even though I haven't been but I really don't care). There are lots other parks I would choose over CP. Sorry but I don't give a crap about a 17 second ride that launches you up and down a hill that is 400 feet tall or other record breaking rides that are there to break records. As for the rest of the park it doesn't look that special. There are many more unique rides out there. The park looks mediocore in my opinion. I rather spend my time on more unique rides and a park that's clean and not over populated. Rides like these look interesting: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rides like these are over rated: See how drawn out this is? Launch up then down your done? Cedar Point does look like a good park but it is WAY over hyped. They do have some sweet lookin rides but most of them are over rated. Much rather visit family owned parks like Holiday world, Kennywood, and Lake Compounce. Spoken like someone who has never been to Cedar Point....

Bottom line... Iron Dragon?!? Are you kidding?!? One of the most tame, boring rides I have ever ridden! CP's Woodstock Express is better!!

That person has 5 posts on that site. All I know is that last Sunday, the trains were not on the track. -

What suspended coasters have you been on? Only Flight Deck, though Coaster critics have said its the most "intense" of all of them, which to me doesn't say much as Flight Deck is pretty weak. Thought honestly my main compliant is how short it is... if it were a bit longer I wouldn't have any complaints. I think the rumors we hear every year about them tearing it down just go to show its an unpopular coaster that no one cares about. We all know very well that Kings Island doesn't need to tear it down to get the extra space as they haven't even currently used half of the land they own. But many people talk about it being the first coaster to go even before Son of Beast because they secretly loath the lame-a-coaster and want it gone. Either that or they just hate the ridiculously long queue it has, which I agree the queue sucks and it isn't worth the short ride. I will be riding my second suspended coaster "Iron Dragon" next week which honestly from POV videos, looks a bit more entertaining than flight deck as it at least has 2 lift hills. If you are a fan of lift hills, you will love Iron Dragon! Edit: And Cedar Creek Mine Ride! -

I like suspended coasters like Flight Deck, but I'm not a fan of coasters that are "suspended" in the manner of the one next to it. But it seems that themeing has become the theme of this thread... So I will say that the theme in modern theme parks is survival, while themeing within said parks has become less of a theme. In light of the theme, I will just applaud the survival theme and ignore the themeing and/or lack of themeing of various rides and parks and continue to enjoy those parks that follow the survival theme without regard to themeing.... --Beatle, who writes in this manner from time to time. -

I enjoy the transitions on Arrow Coasters. Roller coasters are supposed to be snap and throw you around. That's what makes them fun. --Beatle, who grew up in a time when kids who came home from KI without bruises from The Racer were promptly provided with them by the other kids in the neighborhood. -
I had to go with Nitro, because its the best of the three that I've been on. But, for the most part, I think a poll about the best B&M anything is pretty much like asking about the favorite paint you've ever watched dry.

What rides will be at KI when you bring your kids there?
BavarianBeatle replied to KI FANATIC 37's topic in Kings Island
Some parks are in areas where there may be tornados, or floods, or earthquakes, or fires, or other unanticipated events... We should just be thankful for what we have now, and feel the same in 20 years! -
I have seen possums, skunks, Great Blue Herons, chipmunks, cicadas, rat snakes, and bluebirds...

Glad I got to ride Great American Scream Machine last week. I enjoyed the ride. I have never ridden Chang, but I hope it's a better ride than the B&M that will be next to it at Great Adventure. --Beatle, who spent his ultimate flight feeling like he was strapped to the bottom of a bad roller coaster, and who believes that adding B&M's to the park that contains Nitro will make all of those other B&M's seem inferior. -
I cherish my memory of riding The Beast for the first time in 1979 when I was 10 years old! I rode Kingda Ka for the first time this weekend with my children who are 10 and 11. Sadly, my experience in 1979 was much better than my kids' experience this year....
-
I have been to Cedar Point, Carowinds, and Dorney Park. My KI platinum pass has scanned perfectly every time.

Not today! --Beatle, who adored his first Nitro experience, but found the adventure to be less than great...

I agree. That forward snap of the head when you hit the trims on Mean Streak's first drop can be brutal! --Beatle, who quite obviously hates trims -
