Quick PTR from KIC Glam Rocker Party 6/14
BavarianBeatle replied to kiruler102's topic in Trip Reports
Nice meeting and talking with you today. You are obviously a very fine young man!! And I like the group pic by DB. Since I usually take the pictures, there aren't a lot of pictures with me and both of the kids in them..... -
This brings back memories of my kids walking off off their first ride on Magnum and bragging that they were 32 cents richer at the end of the ride. And of the cell phone we watched fly off of Raptor and shatter into about a half dozen pieces when it hit the pavement.

Walk back to The Beast in the morning (the back of the park is pretty much empty at that point as most people will be going to DB or Firehawk). Then turn right and do Back Lot Stunt Coaster and Vortex. Then head back toward the front of the park and hit Flight of Fear, Firehawk, The Racer, Adventure Express. Then get a free ice water at Outer Hanks. Then hit Action Zone and ride everything there in whatever order you want. By that time, the initial rush to DB will be pretty much cleared out and you will be able to ride it with a shorter wait.

I love Sundays in October!!!! The weather is usually pleasnat and the lines are almost always very short. Avoid Saturday nights though!
-
Tuesday night: Ironically we were in line for SoB when a kid said "Diamondback used to have a loop...." I was proud of the boys for just bursting out laughing and not trying to correct him.........
-
None of them work for me either. Can you "youtube" it?
-
As someone who went to the park starting in 1972 (when I was 3 years old), I always kind of resented the "Paramount" name added to KI..... But they did add some great things! But I agree the music is what I miss the most!

Are You The World's Biggest Diamondback Fan?
BavarianBeatle replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I only have two small tatoos. I got my kids' names in their mother's handwriting on my calves after she died. So mine mean something to me too! -
Well, I said "should not" be the proper procedure...... And I believe that everything you said is accurate. My disagreement is not with you, but with the policy you describe: if ride operators are in charge of policing line jumping and the potential confrontations that could result, that, in and of itself, IMO, is a problem! God forbid if several large men started physically fighting over a line jumping incident, I would not want to see one of the little girls who operate the rides try to stop that! In fact, I wouldn't try to stop it myself, I would be trying to keep my kids out of the way. And further, if my kids wound up in the middle of such a confrontation, the fact that that three or four teenagers would be our only defense does not exactly inspire a great sense of safety in my mind when it comes to that type of situation.

There are more rides at CP that she will not be able to ride. I started mine at KI, with only four rides (at the time; FH and DB have since been added) that they couldn't ride. In my opinion (I'm sure others will disagree with certain items on this list), KI is better at 48 inches for a number of reasons: 1. Flight Deck is better than Iron Dragon 2. AE is better than Cedar Creek Mine Ride 3. Vortex is better than Corkscrew 4. The Beast and SOB are better than Mean Streak 5. Drop Tower is 48 inches while Power Tower is, I believe, 52 inches 6. They have nothing like BLSC, which kids tend to enjoy 7. KI's "bigger rides" (except DB) are more secluded than CP's and won't be "in her face" as much (For example, Invertigo is in a corner, you won't have to walk her through X Base, and The Crypt is not visible) But granted, we have nothing like Magnum or MF. And Blue Streak and The Racer are in a tie. But, based on my experiences and the input of my kids, KI is better at that age.

I must disagree with you to an extent. Talking to ride operators (who, as their job title indicates, are there to operate rides), should not be the proper procedure. These are not "sob stories." IMO, they are legitimate issues brought up by people who paid to go to the park, and feel that they did not get their money's worth. It is the responsibility of management to provide a safe environment and protect their paying customers from punks and thugs. And if they don't, they will have fewer paying customers who don't fall into those two categories and more who do.
-
You're a very patient man.... Because the park is obviously aware of this problem and has chosen to do nothing about it, when (not if) someone gets seriously hurt in one of these situations, the lawsuit may cost them more than what they paid to build Diamondback!!
-
It's a free country. If you own an item and someone is willing to pay you money for it and they offer you a price you are willing to accept, you are free to complete that transaction. End of story, IMO. --Beatle, who wouldn't pay a nickel for a Cabbage Patch Kid or a Beanie Baby, but knows that there are others who exercise their right to do so.

The final helix on The Beast at night will always be my favorite as well.

On El Toro, the seatbelts are fixed position (rather than retractable) and buckle in the middle. One of the ride ops said "Welcome back riders! As the train comes to a complete stop please lift up on your lapbar. After that you may want to unbuckle your seatbelt and move it out of the way before you stand up, because it's pretty funny when someone forgets and get stuck by it!" The same ride op had a great Mickey Mouse impression and would use that voice to say "train clear." As to the Michigan-Ohio State thing. I'm a huge Ohio State fan and a student, and if I was in Michigan (or anywhere really) and someone said Ohio State sucks, I'd probably say "we're not the ones that can't win a game!" I wouldn't take it personally or take offense to it. That's the nature of a rivalry. I graduated from the University of Toledo, so I no longer need to rely upon being a Buckeye fan to trash Michigan........LOL!!! Edit: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/foo...an-toledo_N.htm

Couldn't agree more... I always stop and smile for a second and don't mind... After all, if my kids and I died in a car wreck on our way home, our family could find that little pink card and buy our last pic online...... OMG!!! THATS HORRIBLE!!! remind me to smack you next time i see you for that! but i agree its 10 secs no biggy. its more fun when you do stupid stuff/make dumbass faces ok i have been guilty of this one before I don't think its horrible at all! In fact, I think it would be a good way for them to remember us so that they would know we died happy!
