  1. We went tonight as well. The sign being gone could possibly mean that they are renaming the ride, rather than removing it. Something like "AirTran The Ride" (for those who are old enough to remember that name change).
  2. Since Knoebels is a "pay per ride" park, why hasn't this "man" been investigated for prostitution?
  3. How do you burn steel? hooky, who just HAD to... With thermite, this stuff burns around 4200 deg. Without bringing up any 9/11 conspiracy theories, that is, in fact how it is done! But, on point, I like SoB... But if it must go, I don't care as long as they replace it with something that doesn't suck.....LOL!!!!!
  4. My heart races when I first see the skyline of a park, just like it did when my sister and I used to look for the Eiffel Tower on our way to KI when we were little kids.
  5. I lost my wallet, with my badge and my security card last year. It was in Action Theater though, and I got a call from the KI police before I left the park telling me it was recovered! And I lost one of my kids at the county fair once, if that counts..... He was also recovered, thank God!....
  6. I agree with your last point. As long as the trains are still there, we still have a chance. We will know for sure by next year, though. I figure CF would not want it SBNO next year. With it being such a prominent feature, I'm sure they would not want to spend 2010 with the GP spreading false rumors about why it wasn't running!
  7. Exactly! As a single parent, my first reaction is "Where were the parents?!" It takes several minutes to drown, and when mine were that age, i would never have even considered taking them to a water park! Running through the sprinkler was fine at that age!
  8. The down side... I used to like it because my kids could get vegetables (which I make them eat) , now they rush through their meal for the desserts.....LOL! Edit: And the meatloaf is quite good with ketcup, as are the edible taco salad bowls with the chicken, cheese, salsa, and sour cream....
  9. I find it fun, at times.... --Beatle, who has been laughed at for his glowing forehead after colliding with a lightning bug on a Beast night ride.....
  10. I've only been evacuated down a lift hill once. On The Beast in the early 80s. The ride op said the lift chain broke... We weren't vey far up though.
  11. Only 1 guest per person?..... Then I can't go! I have two kids!
  12. For me the drive is worth the difference in price. And we are rarely at the hotel while we're up there anyway......
  13. We usually stay at the Red Roof on 250 by the turnpike. It's about $70 per night. And has an indoor pool for the kids in case it rains.
  14. Years ago, when my kids were two and three, they won stuffed monkeys at the duck pond game (I think it was). They were too young to read the sign that said "everyone wins"! They loved those monkeys!
  15. I have only ridden two of those (DB and Carolina Cobra when it was at GL), so I do not feel qualified to vote.....
  16. Attendance will drop dramatically on August 31.... LOL!!
  17. That brings back a lot of memories for me! I remember the first evening my yougest reached 48 inches. I still have the on ride photo of his first Beast ride and the one at the end of the season with his hands in the air! Enjoy the time with your kids....
  18. Looks like y'all are getting what is essentially a mirror image of Diamondback. You will enjoy it very much!
  19. At the guess your age, weight, or birthday game, a man wearing a gray (formerly white) tank top with a mullet steps up and asks the little girl operating the game to guess his birthday within three months. After she does so and he loses, he reaches into his pocket, pulls out another five dollars and says, "Bet you can't do that again!!"....LOL!!!!! That one's made up, BTW!
  20. International Street! I still get chills up my spine when I see this walking into and out of the park, like I did when I was a little kid. That feeling has never gone away.
  21. But the crowd cleared out nicely in the evening.....
  22. I must agree with Terpy on this one... By today's standards, DB is better... But for those of us who remember waiting two plus hours to ride the biggest coaster in the world 30 years ago, nothing will ever top the experience of riding The Beast!!! I was 10 years old and was riding the greatest coaster in the world.......!!!!!! --Beatle, still feeling very blessed for that opportunity!
  23. I must say, the condition of The Racer is deplorable!!! Peeling paint, the trims that take the airtime out of the run back to the station, and the disgusting spit and gum all over the walls of the tunnel in the final blocks.... While remembering saving Top Value trading stamps in the 70s so I could get KI tickets and ride what was then a beautiful coaster once or twice a year, seeing those things almost makes me want to cry! CF should be ashamed!!!!!!
  24. In my experience, it is best to be there when the park opens on a Friday hight. Then go to the coasters first, as most of the GP heads for the Haunts. Then do the outdoor Haunts later after it is dark. The get that last night ride on The Beast (or two or three, etc....) I always appreciate those rides, knowing that my days are numbered!
  25. Starlight Experience is beautiful! The kids and I love it!!!
